  1. I thought Yost did a horrible job last night managing....That was a very winnable game....Everyone could tell Cappy and Villanueva were done, but Yost kept them both in way too long Cappy had a shutout going and only faced 4 batters in the 4th so I have no idea what he could have done there. And Villy is a fan favorite so I don't think he left him very long either. He gave up the homer and then came back out for the next inning. If you took him out you are going to burn up another arm in a game that you are losing already. So either way he does it someone is going to complain. Funny how it is so easy to say these things when the team is losing and now even Villy is getting ripped a bit. Yost is in a no win situation and the players make or break him in the end. I can't stand these discussions because they are either positive or negative depending on how the team is doing. But Yost still manages the same.
  2. Our guys are not in the system of the mets, yanks, boston, or any other big market team. I really believe they hype the guys with those teams so they can market and make them big once they come up. But maybe that is just me.
  3. I don't know how everyone knew that he was done. He cruised into that inning and then walked a guy and gave up the bomb.. It looked like he was stuggling a bit but I don't think it was obvious to take him out until he walked another. If that were the case, many of our starters would not last more than an inning or two. It just seems like whenever we lose we were either "Yosted" or someone messed up. Wise could have limited the damage and we could have scored more runs. We lost a game because we played poorly. He could have taken cappy out after the homer and it still didn't look like we were going to challenge anyone offensively yesterday. I just find this all silly when anyone says that it should have been done like this or that. If its said in the IGT it at least has a little credibility. But still some say it over and over and when they are right they rip yost, but most of the time they are wrong, things work out, and nothing is said then. Funny how that works. It seems all well and good but when the game is going on it is much more difficult. It's just funny to see a bunch of people that all have this easy solution to how a game should of been won.
  4. He probably was left in a guy to long but walking all those guys and wise giving up the double is not on yost. Why does a manager take blame for pitchers not throwing strikes and the bullpen giving up hits. I never really got that. He sits in the dugout and puts guys out there to play. We are not scoring runs and not pitching that great. Tough to win when you don't score many runs.
  5. In this weird world of baseball I find it amusing that people are now calling for the likes of graffy, CC, and Jenks now that we are struggling. Things are not going well but its everybody, not just a couple guys. We can't string hits together and I am getting frustrated as well. And just like that we got two runs. We need that one.
  6. I agree that he has been below average for some time now but I agree in saying that he is what we expected. I don't know why this is a surprise to most. He has always given up a bunch of hits and had an era in the 4's. Yesterday is what he is. We were in the game and the offense was mad up of all solo bombs. As our 3 or 4 starter, he will get us 12-15 wins this year. I would say that is pretty good. Once the playoffs come, who knows who is going to pitch. But getting there is the most important and I see the team making changes as the second half plays out. But our 3-5 starters keep us in the game almost every game. Sometimes the offense has to pick up some of the slack. But asking a team to score over 4 runs is not much to ask from a good team. If you want to win the division and be up there with the best in the NL, you have to hit as well. Loses like yesterday are on the offense just as much as the pitching, which was average.
  7. Now thats good. So bringing in our other long man, who is pretty good, is a bad decision in a tie game? I don't get how this can be on yost. Just another case of how he will be to blame if one of the fan favorites gets hit around.
  8. It was a rocket. Nice play at first. Sucks not to get anything that inning.
  9. If I caught what Ned said correctly, Carlos will be available Thursday. 45 pitches was the target number; Carlos tossed 48. Why, after a win, must we always dwell on the negative? This thread is always filled, with what ifs, and so on. He pitched 4 innings. If he pitches 3 or even 2, its the same thing. He will probably take the next two off. So what? Yo is the long guy in the next couple or we have a game where we have a starter go 6 or 7 and then we go to bow and coco. Why is Ned always to blame for something. We have plenty of relivers and you never know when these guys are going to pitch. So why not let him throw the rest of the game? I just get sick of always coming up with negatives when we win games.
  10. The outfielder has cost him both of those runs even though the at bat to the pitcher sucked.
  11. So cause he threw a couple balls high, you are bummed already? That would have been a pretty quick inning if not for the misplay. There was not a ball hit very hard at all.
  12. I think the game yesterday is a perfect example. I happened to catch part of the postgame show on 1250 and people were asking how bush could possible stay in the rotation. Well saving Yo for later in the year is one reason and his performance has been pretty good lately, so that may be another. But they were saying this because he was supposedly so "awful", "again", yesterday. Well actually he could have given up only 2 runs, if the guy is out at home and we catch a popup. Giving 5 outs in an inning will usually come back to get you. So he has actually been pretty good in just over a month. So I think people are quick to jump on a guy when there is another option. But we want to save Yo a bit this year and bring him along slowly. Which I agree with and hope it turns into him starting later in the year or at least being able to pitch a little more later in the year. But that is something we can worry about once we get there. Our team is tops in the NL and I think the expectation have gotten the best of most. In past years, these starters would all be awesome seeing we were only winning 75 games. But winning will do that to the fans. We are impatient and have a new taste in our mouth. So nobody is safe from being killed by message boards and talk radio everywhere.
  13. Love atlanta. I don't know how old you are but I really like the area. Turner is a great park, CNN building, and coca cola are downtown and ok to check out. But I have always stayed in the burb, buckhead, and that is where ESPN zone and some cool bars are. But there are also some nice golf courses, shopping, and just a nice area. I have no idea what you like to do but that is a start.
  14. It might be but I don't think run differential is the only thing that will tell us that. But I think it comes down to the big market thing again. When the brewers struggle it's because they are really not ready for the big time and not that good. When the mets, yanks, boston, or LA struggle, its because they are in a slump and will work out of it. So they are always a story either way. It sucks but thats the way sport and media are these days.
  15. You have to laugh a bit when you see this thread. Just a short bit ago there were threads complaining about Graffy and CC playing and saying just wait for Weeks to come back. Ned should be fired because he was playing those guys. Now Weeks is back and there is talk about how bad he is and what are we going to do with him. He has been pretty bad lately but I think you let him keep going at it and rest him here and there with one of the two backups and hope for the best. I would expect him to have a good stretch either this week or just after the break.
  16. Corey has an average arm for a right fielder. Usually most would not tag from that shallow of a ball.
  17. Why do we have to talk about losing when we are still winning? Lets just wait before we get that started.
  18. The voting is closed and will be announced sunday.
  19. He has given up two runs thru 4. Soup gave up 3 yesterday and some said it wasn't that great of a start. He has been good and a couple more innings would be great.
  20. His second best outing of the year, sorry if I am underwhelmed. There must not be very many games that are good then.
  21. Just a quality start for soup. I will second the only 3 runs off woody williams comment.
  22. This is not a bad start. He is exactly what we paid for. A mid 4 era guy and he is going to win about 12 or 13 games. He is keeping us in the game and you have to expect to score about 5 runs to win a game. So this is a pretty good start I would say with 7 k's.
  23. He's givin up two runs after 5 now. I don't really call that getting beat up. Does he have to throw a shutout? Keep us in the game until the late innings and hope we score enough runs, which is hapening right now. Lets go offense!
  24. It was a big belly flop type slide and it almost looked like Mcgahee hit when he was at miami. A little more force and Loretta may be looking for a new knee ligament. Nice hit by prince.
  25. Just snoop around the outside of the stadium and there are usually people trying to get rid of some. I have been pretty lucky with that method in the past if I don't go down with tickets. Don't pay over the amount you want to and if you are patient, you should come up with some for a decent price.
