  1. Cubfan1126 ah now I see why you poke holes in my joke... I wasn't relating it to this latest injury in specific, and it was 3am when I wrote that I was just throwing something out there.., but the "...............................................................................", means play action is going on, I was skipping ahead to certain spots.. Thanks
  2. "And now the Cubs closer Kerry automatic injury Wood is on to pitch the 9th............................................................................ooooh he just threw a wild pitch and the trainers are out there, he says he's fine so he's gonna keep going........................................................................................................well it looks like Kerry is gonna be taken out of the game after throwing 5 consecutive wild pitches, and allowing 5 runs in 1/3 of an inning"
  3. I will be soooooooooo peeved too if Villaneuva starts the year in the minors or goes to the Minors. He seriously has nothing left to prove, and can only offer upside. He will certainly have a reason to be p****** off as I would too. My Dream of the Rotation: 1. Sheets 2. Gallardo / Bush 3. Suppan 4. Villanueva 5. Bush / Parra I figure have Bush in the rotation until Gallardo comes back which should be soon, then drop him to the #5 starter. Bush is an inning eater and always is healthy for the most part and could potentially offer upside. I seriously can't stand how Yost says that ST will determine who goes where, but then he says performance from the seasons past like the vets is big, but then Vargas is doing great in ST, so now he could potentially be in the rotation. Trade Cappy, trade Vargas, keep Bush as the long man inning eater, #5 starter or something along those lines. Unfortuantly Yost runs the Club so the rotation will look like this: 1. Sheets 2. Gallardo / Bush 3. Suppan 4. Vargas 5. Bush / Capuano - if Cappy is not healthy then Parra So will have 2 young players who have a ton of POTENTIAL upside in Parra and Villanueva sitting in the minors, while just because Cappy, Vargas, Bush etc are vets, even though they have pitched poorly in the past will get into the rotation. Wow, aside from Gallardo which yes is a big imrpovement over a full season, our rotation will still be the same. Mediocre at the end of it.
  4. even if that deal hadn't been made, theres no chance he would have ever had a chance with MIL - I say that because look at us now during ST this year, much less unless he was as hyped as Gallardo, or he was called upon midseason to pitch due to injuries, he would have to put up great numbers to even have a chance.
  5. Id be willing to take any of the card sets too and or as well as the football card sets, and or the rickie weeks baseball signed, email me at chatpeps@yahoo.com if I win anything Thanks man appreciate it
  6. We all knew what we were getting when we signed him. We didn't know back in December of 06' that Villanuva, Parra etc would be legit and competiting for spots. He was signed because of his leadership ability, his vet pressence, the fact he could typically keep you in games, put up 200+ innings etc. What does that pay? Yea 40 million for stability and those intangibles. Its alot of money, but thats what the market pays
  7. Though it's grown on me him batting leadoff, at the same time when Yost first started doing it I was never a fan of it, and I still question it a hint today as during all the time Weeks has spent outside of the Brewers under Yost he's batted anywhere from #2 - #5 in the lineup, and he's PRODUCED BIG. Does that MAYBE mean that Weeks just isn't a leadoff type hitter? I also did get scared in Sept. he hit like .247 but with the power OBP yet, while in August he hit .311? or so.. I really hope he breaks out this year, and I was thinking about his ST appearances too, but it is too early to worry yet.. If he's stil struggling in say May with a .230BA little power alot of K's then I'd worry about the future of 2B.. He could go anywhere IMO during his PRIME of being a .320/40HR/40SB hitter to where the best he does in his prime is .275/22HR/32SB... and he's clearly not near his prime yet about 3-4 years down the line at this point yet, but whether or not his prime will be in the majors or minors at that point will be a valid question.
  8. happy he'll be OK, but I never liked him with the Brewers - if I could stick Yost or Lopes with the 08 club id say YOST me.
  9. As Yost said its going to be a competition for those spots. If it's a fair competition and say Villanueava has a 1.50ERA with 25K in 15IP and doesnt make the rotation while Cappy has a 14.0ERA 25BB and he makes the rotation I'll lose it. I realize you can't go completely on ST performances, but at the same time they shouldnt say its a competition either if its clearly not
  10. Email sent jez what a loser I mean seriously - yes I told him that too
  11. wow is that for real that offer? you would think a coaching position is what theyd offer him, not a mascot position, much less the "secondary" mascot.
  12. Everyone says Fielder is a leader in the clubhouse ---> does that have some corelation with the fact he called out the fans when the would boo at home or with this whining to the media, or blowing steam at his dad ---> what type of a leader is he??? Now he may be awesome in the clubouse, a real leader, but at the same time from the perspective he's letting off it's that dont mess with him or he'll open his mouth, and that hes very outspoken. Its one thing to say something around "you know I am dissapointed but I realize its a business and the two sides couldnt come together so they used their system for paying us out", and another with the way Fielder went about it and what he said. and what Brewerjamie15 said, if you let Fielder get higher than that, then the rest of the young stars will want that too, and it has to be fair to all
  13. keep in mind that remember our BP was really struggling around the time of this deal - its easy to say that the trade wasn't worth it, but in those 25IP if we didnt have him that wouldve meant giving the ball to the struggling BP.. it COULD have been worse in those games, we could've had more losses without him, and we couldve been out of the race a month sooner and no winning record. While it's easy to say this after its all happened and we lost - what if we had gone to the WS - then everyone would be saying "Oh Doug you saved us and our BP with that linebrink trade great trade etc". So many people are opposed to it after the fact because there not use to the Brewers trading prospects at the deadline, it's always been the oppposite. Obviously looking back on it now it probably wasn't one of Melvins better moves and we did give up alot, but if we didn't have him, we might be an under .500 club - with that said I'm happy with how everything turned out
  14. whats next, Zambrano saying he's going to win the Cy Young award - o wait he said that last year .. I'm sure he'll say it again, and Kosuke will be ROY and D-Lee will be the MVP with Ramirez winning the HR crown.. IMO their very cocky over there in Chicago.. add Dempster to that list
  15. Santana - even if we had the prospects it never would of happened, we can't afford to resign him Cabrera - same deal, wouldn't of had the money to re-sign him to a huge contract, both of these guys are not what were about Bedard - had a better contract, not forced with re-signing him since I believe he has 2 years on his contract left. The O's were asking for Corey Hart - came straight from owner Mark A. at the winter warmup when I asked him. I don't know the details though. I think all together with the Linebrink trade, Inman was a great prospect at the time we dealt him, but at the same time many scouts were already saying negative things about him, if he had done that at AA and AAA then he's a top 20 prospect in all of baseball. But anyways, if we had held onto him, Im just saying him because he's the most notable in that trade, but if we held onto him, we still even without Corey Hart in a deal for Bedard, we still would've had to add in at least a Matt LaPorta type player etc. All of our top talent in years past is in the major leagues, and with that said teams are asking about the Weeks, the Fielder, the Hardy, the Hart, there not after our minor league players as much anymore as they use to be. Any trade for Bedard (that is if Mark A was lieing or Doug could've gone around Hart), would've consisted of at least LaPorta, Inman, Escobar, maybe Gwynn something around that.. so while Innman may have been a significant piece to acquiring Bedard, I think that adding in LaPorta, Escobar, Gwynn, etc Doug wouldn't do.. at least thats my thinking.. Also, it should be noted that LaPorta can't be dealt until what a full year after signing with the club or something like that.. if I'm wrong correct me, but if I'm right, that would've meant another big name player instead of LaPorta would have to fill that hole in the trade, which would mean potentially a Gallardo maybe.. Keep in mind Bedard wasnt up for trade last season either.
  16. at the expense of Bailey/Cueto / Votto it'd be stupid for them IMO. Im hoping they do it. All the hype about the Reds last year was attributed to the young guys like Bruce, Bailey, Votto, Cueto - keep in mind how many games they won last year -
  17. If Sheets is there opening day he will most likely be there the entire season. 1. If sheets puts up Cy Young type numbers - he obviously wont be dealt at the deadline 2. If Sheets puts up horrible numbers - he wont be sold low - unless the return is something at least half way decent - theyd look for him to turn it around 3. If Parra breaks out, Villanueva breaks out, Bush breaks out, Gallardo breaks out, and Suppan is suppan - then Sheets could be dealt, but hinging on #1 and #2
  18. I really don't think he's going to do anything. If he stays in the rotation he needs to figure out AAA batters first before coming to MIL or MLB in that matter. With that said, I think in the Major Leagues he could be a good #4/#5 starter if given 200innings. That said it wont' happen in MIL. I wouldn't throw out the fact of them trying him in the BP - who knows what could happen in the BP for him.
  19. For me I knew Fielder hit 40HRs off of righties last year so when I read that it made sense, I guess after re-reading that his verbiage is a bit off with that, I think his intent was to say that Fielder hit 40HRs off of righties.
  20. "While Braun destroyed left-handed pitching to the tune of a sick 1.480 OPS, Fielder hit 40 home runs mostly against right-handers, so opposing teams won't be able to mix-and-match pitching so well." He's saying that Fielder hit 40HR's against right-handers, of which he did exactly. I didn't read every single detail, I skimmed a little, but it really wasn't that bad guys. They've done worse before. He didnt' mention Corey Hart which is the only really flaw I saw on his article.
  21. I realize our BP has the potential to be already stacked with people this year, but if Doug could acquire him at a decent price why not? 22. Again it's not about what we want to ship to them - (our scraps). The supposed trade to Seattle was netting them young players. There in a rebuilding mode most likely now and from what I've heard want the young players. They have no reason to want a guy like Cappy (unless he was cheap - and he'd be a fill in until younger players arrive), Vargas highly doubt it (same with cappy, if he's cheap sure), Turnbow maybe but I don't think their that high on him, and TGJ is probably the only guy on that list they'd want. Now I said for both Vargas and Cappy that if he was cheap maybe as an add on to the deal they would take it so they can some inning eaters until the younger players come. But with that said a deal should not be centered around Vargas and Cappy, that does nothing for them. While it would be nice to get Bedard, Mark Antansio specifically told me at the Winter Warm up (which I posted), is that they were asking for Corey Hart. Its not to say we could maybe keep pressing and go around Corey Hart, including maybe LaPorta, Irribaren.. something around that, I just dont think either are going to happen.
  23. Last year when he sent them out (I got his book) it said something along the lines that you're not suppose to publish them or give them out or something. Im not sure if thats copyrighted material since it's in his book, or Idk. I can tell you Bruce is #1 for hitters and Bostons Bucholz is number 1 for pitchers
  24. Hopefully he gets resigned. Or the Cubs could move on him when he's a FA.. same goes for Sheets.. not trying to change this thread, but could you imagine Sheet signing with the Cubs?
