  1. If Hanley played for NY he'd have the hype that Reyes has. Ramirez outperformed Reyes offensively for the most part, only thing Reyes did more of was steal bags, but Hanley stole I wana say 40+? I'd pick Ramirez. If he had to move to the OF, I might still pick him but I'd think about it more.
  2. I probably after hearing everyone could've gone higher on the Reds in my prediction, but at the same time I still view Griffey as a liability because he gets injured so much. IMO Dunn is the only sure bet in that OF to last the entire season. and Bruce the minor league player of year in MLB is just that, a minor league player, while I have him on my keeper league fantasy team and won't trade him, it's very unlikely he comes up and does a Ryan Braun impersonation.
  3. How is Pierre defensively. I didn't take into account D much because it didnt' seem that the writer did. I said his OBP is low, I think it's .330/.340? so it's not bad, I think because he got the contract everyone now is on Pierre more, but he's a good player, he'll hit .290-.300 and make your team a threat on the bases. Jones did have a bad last season, but even if he just comes back half way he could do a .255/.260/30-35HR potential which is good, maybe not the best for him but nonetheless.. and Ethier and Kemp are still young, but considering the other clubs their more solid bets instead of a guy like Jay Bruce or Upton who have loads of potential but have done squat in the majors.
  4. Thats funny, Soriano is the only sure thing. Pie struggled big time last year, and aside from the hype Kosuke has received, he could be Kaz Matsui for all we know, he hasn't had one major league AB. Theirs alot of potential here if Pie breaks out and Fukudome breaks out, but again that's just potential.. very high IMO to rank them the #2 OF in all of the NL. Byrnes is a sure bet, and Young did well at almost a 30HR/30SB mark, he does need to improve his OBP and AVG though.. and Upton is a big ??? for at least 08, again all the potential in the world for Young and Upton, but I think it's still a little high in my book. And I expect Byrnes to regress a little. Alou 41 has trouble staying on the field. If he stays on the field he could be a good one if his age doesn't get to him, Beltran is really the only sure bet here, Church is mediocre..Church has had an OPS of .800+ the past 3 seasons, but he hasn't really broken out completely. This placement for the Mets isn't too bad. Pence is a stud yes, and Lee is a stud yes, but Bourn IMO is a huge wildcard. At best he might hit .285/30SB maybe, but I'm very skeptical of him. Again potential, but I really think this pick at #5 is too high with Bourn being the reason. If were going on potential like this writer was with the past 5 teams, Braun is a legit .300/40HR/20SB guy, Cameron is a legit .270/20HR/20SB guy, and Hart has the potential to do .310/30+HR/30+SB. I think the Brewers should be ranked higher than #6 IMO with or without the potential mark on Hart. The Brewers are the only the only team aside from MAYBE the Mets that have 3 regulars that are proven and very very solid if not exceptional, while all the other teams have ??? or are riding on potential way too much IMO. I also wana note that Bruce hasn't had 1 major league AB yet and this OF is 1 behind the Brew Crew? I also wana say that I think the Dodgers should be ranked higher. While Pierre has a low OBP, Jones should rebound and is proven and can be a stud, and Kemp raked last year and Ethier is very solid. My rankings: 1. ROCKIES LF Matt Holliday, CF Willy Taveras, RF Brad Hawpe. 2. BREWERS LF Ryan Braun, CF Mike Cameron, RF Corey Hart. 3. DODGERS LF Juan Pierre, CF Andruw Jones, RF Andre Ethier/Matt Kemp. 4. METS LF Moises Alou, CF Carlos Beltran, RF Ryan Church. 5. ASTROS LF Carlos Lee, CF Michael Bourn, RF Hunter Pence. 6. DIAMONDBACKS LF Eric Byrnes, CF Chris Young, RF Justin Upton. 7. PHILLIES LF Pat Burrell, CF Shane Victorino, RF Jayson Werth/Geoff Jenkins. 8. CUBS LF Alfonso Soriano, CF Felix Pie, RF Kosuke Fukudome. 9. BRAVES LF Matt Diaz, CF Mark Kotsay, RF Jeff Francoeur. 10. GIANTS LF Dave Roberts, CF Aaron Rowand, RF Randy Winn. 11. REDS LF Adam Dunn, CF Jay Bruce, RF Ken Griffey. 12. CARDINALS LF Chris Duncan, CF Colby Rasmus, RF Rick Ankiel. 13. NATIONALS LF Wily Mo Pena, CF Lastings Milledge, RF Austin Kearns. 14. MARLINS LF Josh Willingham, CF Cameron Maybin, RF Jeremy Hermida. 15. PIRATES LF Jason Bay, CF Nyjer Morgan, RF Xavier Nady. 16. PADRES LF Scott Hairston, CF Jim Edmonds, RF Brian Giles.
  5. "i think he'd start over Cameron. It is a 162 season, a solid 4th outfielder is needed. " Not trying to pick on you vannzee52 or anything like that, but first you say he'd start over Cameron, and then you say a solid 4th OF is needed, are you refering to Cameron being that 4th OF? Either way, it's been stressed so much that with a gold glove caliber player like Cameron coming to MIL is why Hall and Braun were willing to make the switches. If it had been someone else they wouldn't have made the switches. Joe Dillion should be a fine 4th OF along with Gwynn and even Gross... I really dont' see them paying Cameron 4 million to be a 4th OF , much less if that changed he'd be pretty upset, and the same goes for Kearns, if he came to MIL, (not sure if he has a no trade clause or not), but he'd turn into Kevin Mench, and Mench wasn't happy about platooning.
  6. Whether or not the trade is fair.. why would we do that? We have Braun, Cameron and Hart in the OF. He's valuable starting everyday, so to have him play the first 25 games while Camerons out, and then put him in a utility role after that is ridiculous IMO and I don't think he'd be a very happy camper.. see Kevin Mench.
  7. Well.... if we move to Arlington and play him against RHP I think we found our 3B -- we should lock him up to a long term deal (should be blue http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif )
  8. Tickets are sold out now anyways. But for the 175 it includes a free autographed gift, a dinner buffet, chance to mingle with all the players and coaches etc that are there in a business casual environment. It also includes a ticket to the Gehl club on April 4th against the Giants which on on that day includes 2 glasses of wine or beer, and a dinner buffett also.. I thought it was expensive just for that one night, but it includes the Gehl club too. . I'm going with my family
  9. I'd like to think these guys were the players that helped them get to where they are right now in terms of hype, as production from Bailey was minimal during the season, and Votto only had idk 100AB or less. Hamilton did help out alot when he was healthy though. Aside from Cordero, they havn't done anything else thus far, it's still substantial the signing but nonetheless. And even before they signed Cordero there was talk that CIN could be a sleeper in 2008, and most of that was based off the fact of their young talent that they have. Now trading that talent for Bedard? Is Bedard a FA after this season? Homer Bailey, Josh Hamilton and Joey Votto I would imagine that would get it done, but they could probably get better use out of those 3 in 08' than Bedard alone. It seems the Reds FO really wants to trade Hamilton for whatever reasons.. with that said I think Hamilton will be gone by next season, and will go on to flourish somewhere else at a line of .295/32HR..
  10. while he doesnt provide pop or speed etc, hes still a valuable guy for PH duties and a fill in every now and then, not saying the Brewers should get him, but if he was on my bench id be content with him
  11. Towels could be decent if he actually is for real which is a big IF. Kaz was horrible away from home. I'm interested to see how much $$$$$$ goes into Kaz that I can laugh about.
  12. On the offense: -Fielder's numbers regress a little - .289-44HR-106RBI -Hart's numbers don't improve - .289-25HR-85RBI-22SB -Braun's numbers regress a little - .294-33HR-93RBI-15SB -Rickie Weeks doesn't improve - .254-15HR-47RBI-23SB -Billy Hall improves from last season - .270-20HR-69RBI-8SB -Hardy declines a good amount - .264-15HR-54RBI- I'm not sure how these work, but I've always taken a look at them to say the least. But in my opinion these numbers deffinatly regress from what the club did last season, and the improvements I thought they were making, and the improvements/experience they would have going into next season, I thought/think they'll be alot better than that. While Fielder could wind up around there I don't doubt that, he's not going to hit 50HR's every season.. Hart I'm expecting he'll improve alot, Braun I think will be closer to 40HR's around there and more SB's. Rickie really did well the second half, and I'm hoping and thinking he'll be around .280/25-30HR/30-40SB. Hall I'm not the biggest fan of anymore but it's good to see better #'s than what he did this season, Hardy I don't think he'll hit 25HR's like he did this season, but I doubt his BA will decline, I think he'll be around .280-.290.
  13. Balledi isn't close to being worth that in any means. Not sure you can go from a SS who hit 25HRs at the age of 24 for a player who can't stay healthy, much less a guy who hit .204 in 137AB. Yes he hit .302 LAST season in an injury plagued season and had 16HR but nonetheless. He's at an all time low I'd say right now, and I doubt anyone will pay much for him.
  14. just initial thoughts, I wish the Brewers would've gone after him, it doesn't seem like the Phils paid alot to acquire him
  15. I agree a little with the Prince / Cecil thing, I think part of Prince's attitude is the fact he hit 50HR's had a monster year, everyone calls it pretty much his team, he's the leader, I've said it before and I'll say it again I think it's gone to his head a little bit. With that being said, I do agree it's something that should either be resolved or, something that should be kept quiet. Though, I don't think it's that big of deal nor number one..(but idk what my number one would be though, but not that)
  16. how are the rankings created?
  17. how are the rankings created?
  18. I'm opposed to it. When was the DH added to the AL?. I personally like it how it is to be honest. Yes they get the perks in the AL with that but to bring it to the NL.. idk wouldnt care for it
  19. who were the most prominent guys that were available before they had been signed? do you have any links on BA to those guys as mentioned above
  20. does anyone have reports and or rankings on all the intl free agents
  21. .258 / 9HR / .333OBP Those numbers don't look very encouraging to me. If they acquired him Estrada would be gone most likely as Ramon would start everyday, or would want to start everday. Then your right back to square one, only with an older catcher who could easily do worse than Estrada.
  22. Obviously this is different but in my fantasy league keeper league, Sheets isn't exactly over valued. He isn't worth that much. I compare that to real life because teams don't want a guy who's super brittle which it seems Sheets is nowadays. He's labeled as injury prone in my league, and I would say that for real life also. He hasn't been an "ace" much less pitched 200 innings since what 2004 in his almost Cy Young type year. I say he hasn't been an ace because in my mind we think of Sheets as an "ace" our #1 starter. We take that ace number one guy mentality and because we have that mentality we think he's gonna get a Phillip Hughes and Chamberlain. He's not going to fetch that much. He's probably not even an ace to other clubs. Unless you get some GM that has been in love with Sheets all his life and wanted to draft him, and wanted to trade for him every season.... To other clubs he's a guy who has the POTENTIAL to pitch 200IP MAYBE and he MAY post an ERA under 3.50. But with his recent years there not going to pay that for a guy that MAY do that. Ending.. in my league I own Phillip Hughes.. I wouldn't trade Hughes for a guy that MAY be an ace in Sheets. Hughes COULD be an ace next season in all honesty, just like Sheets MAY be an ace and pitch 200IP. But in Hughes you get a guy thats super young, super cheap, and injury free.
