  1. lol whatever you say boss
  2. lol wow this is a joke right, im finished with my case
  3. I really truthfully don't understand all the negativity with Patterson. First, he did not have the single most worst season ever. Secondly, he's turned into a contact hitter, who doesn't strikeout much, who provides occasional pop with alot of speed. Now if you don't like his stats of what he's done the past 2 seasons, (average of about 470AB .275BA/10HR/40SB/65K) and you don't think he's a breakout guy waiting to happen since he's only 28, if Melvin could get him cheap, not sure why anyone wouldn't take him as role player, or a bench player. Late inning PR or PH, give guys days off and rest.. Secondly, I'm thinking to next season, Jenks id assume would be gone... so Patterson in my opinion could be a different kind of an upgrade over Hall considering what hes done this season, if you havn't given up on Hall, shift Hall to LF, Patterson in CF and Hart in RF.. and no offense to Gross, I think someone should have given him a chance to log consistant AB's and have about 400-500AB to really get a feel for him, but obviously the Brewers don't think he's that type of player and neither do other clubs, I say other clubs because if they thought he was something special they would've tried to acquire him already.... and if you wana keep Mench next season and pay him what you'd most likely patterson go ahead I guess... Yea he may want a 2yr-3yr type contract with X millions going to him, but then again, I really don't see alot of teams jumping on his services, when in reality, he's had a decent couple of seasons
  4. Like the last poster said, Brauns not moving anywhere. I don't get how people think Melvin and Co. are going to move Braun to the OF or whatever position other than 3B. Just like ala Weeks.. Brauns not moving anywhere so get over it.. As far as Hall, I think realistically Hall will be in CF again, unless a shakeup occurrs such as him only moving to a corner OF spot and Hart to CF.. I think they'll try to acquire an OF this off-season via trade, and if they get someone productive it may over -shadow what Hall does or doesn't do next season on offense.
  5. What do you guys think of signing Corey Patterson to a 1yr deal with maybe a Team Option for a second year or something. What I found interesting is that he's only 28 years old, which would be just entering his prime now. Another thing that I found interesting is this: 2004 -631AB -168K 2005 -451AB -118K 2006 -463AB -94K 2007 -461AB -65K Obviously he's had less AB's each season compared to 2004, but the past 3 years he's had around the same AB's, and his K's have gone way down. From 118 in 05' to now 07' 65. His BA and OBP isn't the world but, he could improve and ya never know he could breakout, I know that sounds like a joke, but he's only 28 years old..... He could be a bet to hit .270 maybe better, with a .315OBP to go along with 15HR's and 40+ SB... if he were to breakout become the player that everyone thought he would, maybe be a .310BA-25HR-50SB.. obviously thats a pipe dream, but when his K's have gone down so much that leads me to believe that he's on the right path... Only 3 errors in the OF. Obviously stickin it to the Cubs would be nice, but he could turnout to be a nice surprize. Now Billy Hall is in CF obviously which would be a problem. I like Hall, but at the same time I don't know how he can think he's got a starting gig next season unless he wins it in Spring Training. If not Patterson and Hall splitting time, Patterson a late inning replacement, or a nice PH off the bench that could steal a base, provide occasional pop, or if were lucky he really takes off next season.... and no offense to Hall at all, but who would you rather have this season based on there stats, Hall looking lost hitting .255 with 13HR 4SB or Patterson hittin .270 with 8HR and 37SB What does everyone think?
  6. We all know the story behind Ankiel, won't go into it. Some or all may know that MLB is looking at if they can do anything about what he had done. What he had taken was not banned by the MLB at that time obviously as we all know. My question is, he was in the Minor Leagues during the time he had taken his "juice pills". So....if he was in the Minor Leagues during that time, what is Minor League Baseball's Policy on Drug Use / Roids etc? Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't or isn't the Minor League drug policy alot tougher since theres not a union in the Minor Leagues? Thats what I had heard again I might be wrong. So then if say Minor League Baseball had HGH banned the past 5 years or whatever just an example, and he took it during that time while he was down there.... couldn't MLB do something about that then. Now I may be completely off in this, with there drug policy and what was and is banned etc, but if this theory checks out, theres no doubt that MLB should find a way to punish him etc. Am I right? Feel free to just tell me I'm completely off on this, ... its just a theory I thought of...
  7. He did it in tonights game, he took him out in what the 8th inning I believe. I kept thinking, "I hope this doesn't come back to bite us". Sure enough, 2 on in the bottom of the 8th inning and Yost has to go with a guy just called up with Rottino. Granted Rottino almost had a base hit up the middle if it wern't for Loretta making the save there... but nonetheless. I'd rather have Braun batting obviously. I'm somewhat torn on the situation with defensive replacements such as Braun. I realize that Brann's D is horrible but should he have waited another inning, or just have gone with him the entire game? Is this that big of a deal or not really. Just curious to see what others think on that. My other question is about Aquino, he obviously gave up the big hit against the Astros in tonights game. Should Yost have gone with Aquino in that spot? Were there any other options he shouldve gone with? Aquino obviously was in the Minor Leagues for a reason. Pretty much Yost and Melvin didn't think he was big league material. So why put him in a spot like that when the game is on the line?
  8. Optimistic Approach (ya thats right my optimistic one) Cardinals - 84 Brewers - 82 Cubs - 81 Hate to say it, but while the Brewers and Cubs have been out sleeping while playing there games, the Cards are in this thing, and as weak as they are, and how laughable it'll be to see them get first place, they'll capitalize on it. LaRusa knows how the game is played, and has gotten this team this far, he won't stop there. They may be over achieving, but LaRusa is my NL Manager of the year if this happens. This is my optimistic approach ya. My pessimistic approach is this: Cardinals 84 Cubs 83 Brewers 77 At the rate the Brewers have been going, they could easily fall flat. They've had plenty of "oh this could turn us around", and every time someones said that, Sheets, the Yost-Hardy fight, etc, nothing has helped turn them around. Look for them to easily claim 1st next year when they put it all together completely.
  9. "The Cubs will pay his $3.1 million salary in 2007 and his $4.75 million club option for 2008" per rotowire. So thats about 7.85 Million over this season and next. Now I'm not sure if he'll back with them next season, it sounds by that like he would be, but they can always release him too. But thats a chunk of change. If the 2 prospects Melvin would've sent were horrible, I still wouldn't consider it tooo much. Trachsel has gone down hill. He's had some good years no doubt, but 6 of his 13 years in the Majors he's had an ERA under 4.30, and only 3 years under a 4.0ERA. I think he couldve been a high risk/ medium reward type player lol. He could provide vet leadership, eat some innings, and could potentially go on a stretch run pitching well to get us into the Play-offs, maybe.... but the fact that your paying a 37 year old that money and giving up a couple prospects for something that could prove to hurt your club..ill pass. and his walks have gone up while his K's have gone down the past few years, thats a recipe for diaster. Gotta remember too, the Cubs will throw money at anyone.. for Hendry its like tossing 2 pennies and those two prospects to get Traschel.
  10. thats great, there 40% better, how on earth does he come up with an equation that gives you that result.. maybe in terms of money spent haha
  11. From what I understood maybe I'm wrong, it was the Cubs players saying that Uecker got them fired up, the cubs fired up, and the cubs fans fired up. Then what I thought it was, was Ueck saying that the cubs wont win tonight when he went "we don't have to worry they wont win" .
  12. Im going to go out on a limb and say that the Cards COULD win it, and I would laugh my butt of if they did because there a complete joke. The Cubs spent 300 Million during the off-season, and there still having trouble winning. The Cubs got back into it, but its really hard for me to imagine them holding on. They got strong for a while, but there just like the Brewers. I honestly think that if the Cubs and Brewers keep playing the way they are, it'll be:::::: Cubs/Brewers keep playing at this level: 1. St. Louis 2. Chicago 3. Brewers If the Cubs or Brewers wakup: 1. Cubs/ Brewers 2 Cubs / Brewers 3. Cardinals
  13. seems like the Astros Owner is very quick with things. Those 2 guys did a decent job over the past few years. Garner got them into the WS. I really don't know there GM all that well, and what moves they've done other than signing Lee and losing Clemens and Pettite, but I will say Garner can only do so much. If you look at past managers, it seems they have a lifespan over there of 2-3 years tops.
  14. I think one more start is reasonable. I mean he was your 18GM winner and All-Star not too long ago. Granted he's flat out been horrible since, but nonetheless. If Maddux doesn't think he turn Cappy around, then I think he should be dealt during the off-season. A change of scenery could do him change. I think hes a guy who could post about a 3.60-4.20ERA with about 180K if he gets it figured out. And he's young enough so he could figure it out yet, wether or not that'll be with us though.. but we got Parra, Gallardo, and Villanuava who could be slots in the rotation next season, though I would perfer that Villanueva remain in the BP. I think he could be excellent in there for years to come.
  15. Just curious, what is the official rule on dealing players after July 31st.. how does that all work after July 31st with waivers and what not, how do you push through players with waivers and all that, can someone explain that to me in detail?
  16. What do you guys think will be Ryan Braun's final statistical line for the season. He's played in 57 Games thus far this season. Ironically, Milwaukee has 57 games left on the season. You could just double what he's done thus far, but that could be stretching it a little based upon he probably won't play every single game. Right now in his 57 games he has 229AB. Average that out your at about 4.01AB per game. Lets say he plays the next 54 of 57 games. He does need time off. That would mean if you figure it out precisely based upon his AB/Games so far he would get another 216AB. For the season based on that he'll probably arrive at about 445 AB. (501 is the minimum each season of Plate Appearances that you need to qualifiy for awards, which would mean if you add in his walks he'll most likely break that 501 mark fine.) Back to the stats, so if he gets 445AB projecting that on the numbers he done so far he would end up at this: .349BA / 35HR / 95RBI / 297TB / 35BB / 107K / 17SB / 91 Runs / 155 Hits Thats what he would be projected for based upon the above numbers precise. But what do you guys think he'll end up with as a final season line? Personally I would say .332BA / 32HR / 14SB / 102RBI / It seems his power has just gone up like no other, and he hasn't stolen as many bases as of late since he's hitting it out of the park every game. I would also anticipate his BA to drop a little bit, I know he's got it all going on, but just like everyone else I would imagine he's going to have a slump, or just come back down to earth a little on that half. Though if he keeps his power surging like he has of late, 40HR probably isn't out of the question either.
  17. I really doubt that his K totals are going to be like that as the season goes on, it appears he still has the stuff as shown in his first game, but nonetheless, I think it's just two of those games, and I think he'll get back to his old self, remember, he has had injury problems the last couple years, he may not be electric rightaway during the first couple weeks, give him sometime to get into the full grind... as far as this team not showin much hope, I think these guys CAN do it, I think these guys CAN put up big individual numbers, but whats missing is, they just gotta get it goin, I see no reason why they cant put up big numbers all of them and be good run producers, as much as its fustrating, during the first two weeks I think last season the B AVG for the entire team was tops in the NL, and yet it seemed during those two weeks like the Brewers were lacking still at times.. I think everyteam goes through this to a certain extent, give it sometime to level out and have everyone get goin
  18. you guys have got to be joking.. umm Wells just signed a huge contract with Toronto.. now why on earth would they trade him??.. much less a Hardy and Jenkins for Wells one hahahah, like they would do that one and why would we trade Hall who just hit 30plus homers for an aging Glaus with a bad BA.. jez
