  1. I am REALLY hoping for a running play by play today as I'm stuck at work with no way to get updates without this wonderful site. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Any takers?
  2. Maybe I've just missed this discussed elsewhere, but where has Prince been the last few days? Hurt? Thanks!

  4. Finally some common sense!! Carlos Lee is an elite corner OF and the numbers prove it. I do not want to trade our biggest run producer regardless of how much money he makes. I want to build on the success of last year and not hope a couple of rookies can hit 35 HR's and drive in 120 RBI's.
  5. Last year we suffered through some of Weeks' and Hardy's growing pains. Luckily we had Lee and Jenks to carry us during those times. Next year Weeks and Hardy will be more experienced and much improved, but you want to suffer through another rookie (Cruz or Hart) getting their feet wet in the outfield? You can't just keep getting younger. At some point you need to have a mix of solid veterans and young and exciting rookies. I don't like the idea of Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hall, Cruz, Clark, Hart. That's 6 players that are in their first or 2nd year of big league regular duty. To think Hart and Cruz can match...... 29 years old. 162 games. 42 doubles. 31 HR's. 114 RBI's. 13 SB's. .265 Batting average. (a career .284 hitter so one would assume he'd be better than .265 next year). His HR's have increased for 6 consecutive seasons. He's driven in at least 99 runs 3 years in a row. He has a career OPS of .825. And he is only 29 years old. Hardly an aging liability. He has at least 4 or 5 years of pretty much "you know what he's going to give you" left in him. To just assume that Cruz or Hart can match those numbers is being overly optimistic. Especially when neither has put up those numbers in the minor leagues. I stand by my stance that the team needs Carlos Lee in the middle of the lineup to compete for a playoff spot. Cruz and Hart can get plenty of plate appearances in reserve roles and strengthen our bench. Go Crew
  6. Forget that! He did everything I wanted him to do. He hit for power and drove in runs. He played a 162 games. People that do that get paid money. I say pay him whatever it takes and sign him to a 3-year extension. The team will never ever get to where it wants to go if it cringes at the thought of paying players and ships them out of town. I think Mark A and Doug Melvin understand this and will keep both Lee and Jenkins even if it means raising payroll. The team is so close (development of Weeks and Hardy after a full season in the majors, Prince being ready to contribute next year, 3 solid pitchers (Sheets, Cappy, Davis), solid closer, power from both corner spots in the OF) to making the playoffs. Why in the world would you blow that up with a blockbuster trade that may make them worse? All this talk of trading Lee is nonsense.
  7. I'm as big a Brewers fan as anyone....but I'm kind of surprised in myself (as an avid baseball fan) that I am actually watching a Brewers game against a last place team and just flipping to the Yankees/Red Sox during commercials for a Division Championship. In years past..it would be the other way around. There is something special brewing in Milwaukee though. Come on Kane...get outta this!! I would have called on Lil Cappy.
  8. Sweet! Damian is so good he took a run away from the Pirates too!!!!!!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif I know what ya meant!! Let's go Lehr, Cappy, and TBow...OWN the 7th-9th like you will next year!!!!
  9. Great move by Ned. I was afraid he was going to waste Prince here with a lefty/lefty matchup. Instead he bluffed with Branyan knowing fully well the Pirates wouldnt let him face a lefty....therefore he got a good matchup with Helms vs. the lefty. Never had to use Prince. And got to waste Branyan.
  10. Wouldnt it be fitting to finish this season at 81-81?? WIth as much as the Crew has flirted with 1 over, 1 under, etc...it is only fitting that they end with 81 wins. Grrrr..I want more!
  11. Probably because a few people keep suggesting it will be Branyan playing 3B next year, which would cause a big tizzy. Obviously if it is Hall/Cirillo...most people's fears would be eased.
  12. Just leave Brady stay put and let JJ slap a double for the lead. Grrrrrrrrr
  13. Did anyone here really think Russ would make contact?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  14. A 14-pitch at-bat? I don't know that Branyan has had a 14-pitch game this year. What an AB by Billy...
  15. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come as JJ and Hall give the Crew a much better chance to win. Overall I really like this lineup and think it gives the Crew a great chance to scratch a few runs out and give Dougie a chance. As I'm typing this Clark got thrown out stealing...but i agree with trying to Hit-and-run with JJ up and Clemens on the mound. Atta kid JJ. Stay red-hot.
  16. It had to be last year because prior to last year Clemens was on the Yankees.
  17. I think the site is wonderful! I don't have any problems with anything. I do see where people get annoyed when topics get beaten to death and I realize i'm as big of a problem as anyone. I'm going to try my best to follow all the rules and sometimes just "bite my lip" for the good of the board. I respect the moderators, even met one of them (whoever used to be Squarepusher) at a game earlier this season. Super nice guy. Sorry for opening up the can of worms earlier. Go Brewers
  18. Not offensive to me at all, but I don't know. I didn't see the one that was deleted.
  19. Awesome! I seriously didn't know that and I will definitely use that feature a lot in the future when looking for specific topics. Sorry for the "bitterness" of my posts regarding this topic. I've said it before and i"ll say it again. You guys do an amazing job with this site. You are entitled to do whatever you feel is in the best interest of it. All Brewers fans are so lucky to have a site as good as this one because of the mederators doing a great job of keeping it clean, on topic, and fun. Thanks for all your hard work!!! I will continue to follow the rules...if I ever need a reminder, please give it!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  20. OK well I dont read every single thread. I look for something in the subject that interests me and skim over the rest. I'm not interested in where the power will come from next year. That seems pretty obvious with Fielder, Weeks, Jenkins, and Lee. Also Hardy will provide some pop. I never even opened that thread. What interests me is what is going to happen at 3B next year and what is going to happen to Russell Branyan. I look for a thread with his name in the title or 3B in the title. I understand your wanting to eliminate repetition. I also understand why you don't want things to turn into personal attacks on certain players, but I do think certain topics warrant more discussion than others. I guess my big complaint was just that the thread that was locked wasn't a personal attack....and didn't appear to be repetitive to me because I wasn't aware that the "power for next year thread" discussed Branyan because there is 0% chance of him being back next year.
  21. Aside from the thread that is currently locked on page 1. There is ZERO threads discussing Russell Branyan on the first 4 pages of the Major League Forum. If it hasn't been discussed on it's own thread in 4 pages worth of posts...I would say that it's fair game to be brought up again. Yesterday's in-game thread touched on it a little bit, but I don't like posting on an in-game thread the day after it's over because it very rarely gets seen. If someone were to want to discuss Russell Branyan right now..where would you suggest they go to do it? What existing thread? You might think the discussion has been discussed enough, but obviously a lot of fans don't or they wouldnt keep posting.
  22. Absolutely!! I totally agree!! But at the same time, it is a fan forum and fans have differing opinions. I'm just saying that I disagreed with him locking it. Agree. However, they continue to be some of the most posted threads because it is a topic of debate and that changes on a day to day basis. Someone might have a differing opinion of him after his 3 K performance on Tuesday than they did 2 weeks ago when they last posted about it. The point of a message board is to post your ideas, thoughts, dislikes, etc about the team or your choice. If Brewers fans are interested in discussing Branyan's struggles or successes in a civil manner (as I believe the thread that was locked was) then they should be able to do that without the thread being locked. We can decide if we want to click on the thread and read it or browse over because in our opinion its been discussed enough.
