  1. while I would love to have harang, and wouldn't mind having Dunn, the package would have to be on the order of: Gallardo Villanueva Inman Salome Gross (just to fill in this year) Best RH-hitting OF prospect in the organization. Harang is a true ace. Dunn+Harang= quarter ton* of fun. *metric.
  2. I think we should clone braun and have him hitting in every slot of the order. We might want to even have a total of 12 brauns, and they could lead the 12 tribes of Israel. point is, the way he is hitting right now he could hit anywhere.
  3. Can anyone suggest an alternative for Jenkins that will perform as well, and not cost $9mill next year? There might be a FA available, but probably no one who has been as consistently good as Jenkins. You'd also have to convince the FA to come to MKE. Certainly there is no one in the minors. Gwynn can't produce like him. I'm a Gross supporter, but I think he is a downgrade. Unless he goes in the toilet the rest of the season, picking up Jenkins' option is a viable solution.
  4. who would you rather keep on the 40 man roster, Nelson or Nix? Seems Nelson still has a bit of a chance.
  5. castillo is a slap hitter who is running on bad knees. not an upgrade over existing guys, except maybe on defense.
  6. yo went deep in the count on a few batters in the 6th. Otherwise, I think he would have pitched the 7th.
  7. I have a soft spot for the local boys. I know he's old for rookie ball, and has limited power. but he does have great plate discipline and speed. But then there is that clot of OF in A an A+ ball, plus gindl, haydel, et al in rookie ball. I have trouble seeing a place for him next season, which I think would be a shame. Maybe almost everyone in A, A+ ball will get promoted.
  8. how many lefty starters can throw 96, with good command? Are there more than 6 in the bigs? Can Randy Johnson still get that fast? Parra's injuries knocked down his ceiling (I thought he was going to be a reliever before this season). He seems to be over that.
  9. wow, bedard is only a solid starter. valuable, but not worth it to the brewers to give up what is being suggested.
  10. the only way trading capuano makes sense to me is if it is in a deal to get another LH starter. So, as part of a Buerhle trade makes sense. Maybe as part of a trade to get a TOP bat that could make the lineup able to outscore everyone. Definitely not for a reliever, which the brewers don't need; they can dip down to nashville for balfour, thatcher, or parra (don't know if his promotion is official or whether it will be permanent).
  11. while bedard would be a fine guy to have, I can't see why the orioles would peddle him, and I can't see why the brewers would give up anything like villanueva, inman and escobar to get him.
  12. I suspect that Parra as "only a relief prospect" was dismissed somewhere along the line this season. A lefty starter that can hit 96 is pretty special. But, if he does spend some time in MKE this season, it seems like it will be as a reliever, unless injuries just start piling up.
  13. can sanders even walk without a limp yet?
  14. next year's closer better be the same one the brewers have this year. Expect several more losses if he's not.
  15. Oswalt would be the brewers' top pitcher. He's not a big strikeout guy, so what? I think ben and roy were on team USA together, weren't they?
  16. "I'd venture to say that so far he's been everything Krynzel was supposed to be." exactly my point. There is a "Dave Krynzel Disease" (DKD) that is epidemic in the brewer's system--too many strikeouts for the player's power production. Look up and down the stats pages for the minor league teams. That's why someone like Brantley sticks out so much.. DKD in a player does NOT project well. Since you bring up Dave, Does Ford have as a good an arm as Krynzel?
  17. why would perkins get promoted? he's been dreadful.
  18. "When Scotty Po lost out to the D-Train, the major sticking point was the fact that D-Train did it for a contender that won the WS." I guess that's one way to look at it. the other is that Dontrelle was a much better ballplayer than pods, and is one of the most charismatic players, to boot.
  19. I'd be really pleased if he stole half as many bases, and struck out half as many times.
  20. it would be nice if katin could slow down the strikeouts before he gets promoted.
  21. "Quote:Would you rather hope that someone bounces back after a bad start to the year? Indeed I would. Regression to the mean is just as likely to happen with guys who have been playing poorly as it is to guys who are playing well." that makes more sense when you are talking about acquiring a guy in the offseason, not when acquiring a guy to step in and perform immediately.
  22. spurling's trade value is negligible. certainly couldn't acquire an OF that I'd want to see play. Spurling's only value is as a throw-in on a trade.
  23. If ricky would come around, I'd have no trouble putting him back at leadoff, followed by hart, then braun, then fielder, then hardy. I'd hate to move hart down much farther; he's getting on base, and swiping bases.
  24. reed clearly has a voodoo doll of bill hall and he stuck a pin in it's ankle. Keep your hands away from the fielder, braun, and sheets dolls, reed.
  25. if you want to rent someone for the rest of the year, you better be "buying high". Would you rather hope that someone bounces back after a bad start to the year?
