  1. Please - make me eat my own negativity!!
  2. Damn - Braun hits a 3-run HR there and he wins ROY immediately. Ok, just a small exaggeration....
  3. Nice - and they almost called that. No HR's for JJ since June 25th. Thought they actually called it!
  4. Schroeder: "You wonder how much breaking his routine hurt Bush". Give me a break. Although I'm sure it sounds pretty good to most fans who don't question anything.
  5. And I guess if we still had the Counsell/Graffy platoon at 3B, Hamels would have a no-no going at the moment!
  6. Hall's looking almost as bad as Weeks lately.
  7. I've been pointing out the issue with our starting pitchers since the beginning of the year. Everyone seems to believe we have a "great" rotation, when in fact it's very average. AND, you could believe that our two best starters right now may just be Gallardo and Parra, neither of whom figured in the rotation at the beginning of the year. Original rotation career stats (through what they've done this year): Sheets - 71-73 3.79 ERA Capuano - 42-44 4.31 ERA Suppan - 114-110 4.63 ERA Bush - 31-34 4.41 ERA Vargas - 41-35 4.90 ERA I still believe we just have to hope for that "next step" and an 82-80 record or better this year. EDIT: Based on a couple of other posts, let me also point out that I'm NOT an advocate for wholescale change either. Just pointing out that it's questionable whether or not this team is ready to reach the playoffs this year. I'm still hopeful!!
  8. I'm surprised Estrada even gave it a throw based on Bush completely ignoring the runner.
  9. Game, set, match with Hammels pitching. I predict about 12 total Crew K's. You're probably not too far off there.
  10. "Doesn't get any easier tomorrow when they face Adam Eaton"?? I sure hope they're not comparing Eaton to Hamels.... Just because Eaton made a nice start against the Crew doesn't mean he has stuff anywhere near what Hamels has.
  11. Second most HR's allowed - 24 for Hamels. I would have never guessed that. Way to go Bush - no reason to work with a lead, right?
  12. This sure seems like it would need to be a low scoring game, but maybe it will be one of those where we tag a real Cy Young rather than making a nobody turn into a Cy Young. And just as I'm typing that, Braun pounds one!
  13. I know a couple of years ago they had two sizes - $2500 and $3500. If memory serves, the small one accommodated 20 people and the large one 30 people. I just don't remember which one we did to host a small group of customers. But after they converted a few suites into that new party area, I'm not sure they still rent suites for individual games. And if they do, I'm sure they're sold out for the rest of this year!
  14. I still hope the Crew makes the playoffs and will be sticking with them through the last pitch of the season (which I've done every season since I can remember - 75? 76?). However, one pretty good goal should just be to finish above .500 for the first time in how many years, shouldn't it? We haven't contended for anything since '92 and just got to .500 two years ago. Maybe "expecting" a playoff team this year was overreaching and we should be very happy to just finish better than 81-81. The way they've been playing on the road, I think 81-81 may just be a legitimate goal (I know, no one wants to hear that). And as I've said often, we're just getting started here with a multi-year run of success!
  15. I don't see it happening though. I would tend to agree. It's almost like the Packers' Reggie White deal, but those probably happen (if they ever do for the Brewers) in the off season.
  16. Will the brewers make a trade? Thoughts? I would try and get a Dye, Dunn or a Joe Kennedy and ask to see if Jon Garland is ava. But what would we have to get to obtain any of them? And does it improve us considerably? Dye - depends who else goes (i.e. Menchkins/Hall/Hart is still pretty solid) Dunn - same Kennedy - which SP goes? Garland - same
  17. I would love a swap of Okijima for Turnbow. Wouldn't Okijima be under Brewer control for a couple of years? I don't think this would happen but he could be our future closer if he would be under Brewer control. Not to mention, our bullpen would be nasty this year down the stretch, assuming Cordero has better luck and pitches better on the road. NOT going to happen. Compare the stats. And other than that, why include the Brewers in any deal just to swap RP's?
  18. It does say Hideki Okajima was in the deal somehow. Sounded like that may have been the biggest sticking point - that Boston just isn't going to trade him. 5 ER in 51.2 IP so far this year.
  19. Wonder if Peter Gammons is going to mention anything on this - right after this commercial break!
  20. I just can't find out who the Crew would have received. Anyone have ESPN insider to look at Buster Olney's column or report? Supposedly he's the one that reported that the Brewers were the third team.
  21. Let me point out again that my initial post (in the IGT today) about him taking a three-day maternity leave was said in jest! My wife already thinks I'm an idiot, so please, no one else take it out on me! I was joking....
  22. From Rotoworld (I didn't copy all of the post due to copyright) - hopefully this catches the Brewers-related portion: Meanwhile, Buster Olney reported that the third team was the Brewers. RotoWorld speculated that the Red Sox may have been trying to get Derrick Turnbow from Milwaukee. The White Sox might've been eyeing Turnbow as well. Kenny Williams is also known to like Manny Parra.
  23. The third team involved WAS the Brewers according to Rotoworld. Either Turnbow or Parra may have been part of the discussions.
  24. I agree! I would have voted much earlier if I had noticed this. My fault I guess for not noticing.
