  1. They expect Thursday. And for anyone who was in the IGT today, my wife is prohibiting me from commenting on his 3-day maternity leave. Although I still believe it's his wife having the baby and not Scott.....
  2. Do whatever it takes. I'm in for locking it. I'm in for a beard. I'll go pee my pants right now if you promise 5/6. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Maybe they need to change that official "pee" website for anytime they can win 5 of 6 vs making the playoffs!!
  3. maybe stay in different hotels, change the routine... Maybe find a Holiday Inn Express. Seriously, I agree with this thread and the reasons. People are just frustrated and the trend is not very good.
  4. And in a twist of fate, I'm doubling my fun this year actually. I'm in a baseball simulation league and am GM of the Pittsburgh Pirates. My first year (2005), the Pirates finished 65-97 and in 6th place. Last year, I improved to 86-76, good for third place. So, I was really set up to do well this year, and in fact am 60-45 thus far. And who am I 9 1/2 games behind right now? The Cubs, of course, who are a league-best (and smokin') 69-35! Everytime I win a few, they win. Everytime they lose a couple, so do I. And this is supposed to be fun, too!!
  5. I saw it in this morning's Urinal Sentinel under the Brewers notes I believe.
  6. Sounds like as reasonable of an explanation as any. But he seems pretty good against righties, too!! Did you let his dad know that he's already a hero in Milwaukee?
  7. If this is supposed to be fun, I'm pretty sure we're not doing it right. Exactly. I wonder if Yost is going to tell us all to relax and enjoy it after this weekend. Kind of like going for that dreaded "man turns 50" exams and being told to just relax and enjoy it! And I don't mean an eye test at the DMV to keep your driver's license!
  8. What do you find interesting about that?? That he is managing a team 11 games over .500 in the end of July and has a 3 game in lead in the Central division with a franchise that hasn't made a post season in 25 years. Hasn't finished .500 in 15 years. Has an infield all under the age of 24. Has an outfield of misfits (Hall getting used to Center, Jenkins can't hit lefties, Mench can't really hit righties (although he's actually been better at that lately)). He's got an ace on the DL. He had a number 2 pitcher (cappy) on the DL. He had his starting CF on the DL. And he has a 40 million dollar pitcher with an ERA over 5.00. Yes. it is really "interesting" why anyone would consider him the run away manager of the year. Shocking really. I haven't paid too much attention to this thread, but found this post to be pretty close to my sentiment. There are always in-game situations that can be second-guessed (and I've been one to do so on occasion). But the points made above are good ones. I'm not sure you could plug anyone else in who could have done better to this point - overall. And here's an interesting idea I've pondered when reading this thread. The winningest team in baseball over the past 20 years is probably the Yankees (I'm assuming that's true, but I guess I didn't double check). But is Joe Torre considered the best manager (i.e. could he take what Yost has been given and done any better?). He's won a couple of AL manager-of-the-year awards, but why not 10 of them given his record? I'm not completely excusing Ned from all of his questionable moves, but OVERALL he's pretty solid. And "innocent until proven guilty". Let's see how they finish and go from there. And now that I just posted this, I'm sure he'll be replaced tomorrow!!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. I agree, Brett. While I'm as disappointed as anyone right now, the pieces are in place to win. It could very well be that youth and inexperience is catching up to them right now. I'd love for them to compete in 2007, but '08 and beyond are still very bright. (I think I'm repeating myself now.)
  10. I'm off to Houston for a few days anyhow, so I could go along with "no in-game thread". Instead of sitting in the hotel room online, maybe I'll do a filet and a few drinks at Vic & Anthony's (HIGHLY recommended, by the way, if you're ever in Houston).
  11. I think there's probably little chance of it happening anyhow (and the rumor had nothing to do with the Brewers either). Just found it intriguing and wanted to mention that MLBTR reported that the Phillies were scouting him.
  12. Maybe the Brewers need a clubhouse or dugout fight to get them going. Maybe we should go acquire Michael Barrett for a day! Let him take a few swings and then send him out somewhere else. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I know Yost preaches patience and controlling emotions, but sometimes a show of emotion can snap people to attention a little bit. Everyone has acknowledged that many of our players are "mature beyond their years", but that doesn't make them veterans of many MLB seasons. You never know how someone will react to a chair going through a window, but I guess at this point if I were Yost I'd try anything! Or maybe it's a Weeks being sent down. Or flipping the bullpen around a little. But you can't always guarantee results by doing these things either. As an old boss used to tell me, "if it were easy, girl scouts could do it" (and I know, I know, it's sexist so please don't jump all over me for it - I didn't make it up!)
  13. Sounds good to me, but I haven't seen or heard many suggestions of experienced, proven bats or another RP being available to us (without giving up too much). And it's not just trading for one of those, but upgrading what we have already. I'm doubtful anything will come about by Tuesday. But DM has surprised us in the past!
  14. I don't want to create problems, so I won't respond directly to any particular post. But, "just doing something" isn't easy. If it were that easy, then why wouldn't we keep doing something until we win? Why haven't we just kept trading the past 25 years - eventually someone would have made great players available to us, right? As frustrated as I am with the team right now, I'm also realistic that there are never easy answers or fixes.
  15. And I'm not suggesting that we go get him and plug him into the rotation. If we really believe that we have slight glut of OFers and it wouldn't take much to get him, it's worth at least considering. With Gallardo and Parra up now and Inman off to SD, Reyes wouldn't be bad to plug into AAA and hope he reaches his potential. There has been some talk about he and the Cardinals not being on the same page - maybe he just needs a change.
  16. All they try to do (and they do an excellent job of it) is keep BF.net clean. How many forums have you ever seen where topics are just all over the place or being repeated. I'd say BF.net does a great job of keeping things organized. Don't be offended - just jump in one of the thread's that Peavey pointed to. It's a good question you're raising.
  17. The Brewers will be second place ball club very shortly If they're not careful, it won't be long before they're a third place club!
  18. I just noticed that the sunglasses most of the NASCAR drivers wear look a lot like my mom's. Ok, just had to make an observation about something else to break things up a little bit.
  19. Prince didn't look too happy at all in that dugout. Breathing like crazy. I bet he goes off in the Clubhouse. Somebody needs to. I know kicking and screaming by itself doesn't make someone better, but it can't hurt to show some emotion!!
  20. I'm turning this off before I break something. I hear ya brother!
  21. Lose today and they're 33-39 since that 24-10 start. And even after they ended that 10-20 run (to get to 34-30), they're only 23-19 now. Realistically, maybe we should have been focused on 2008 after all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up yet (we're still in 1st place obviously). But they're not looking very good right now. Hopefully they come home and have a big homestand. And maybe we'll still have a big top of the 9th to pull this one out.
  22. Is she watching the game with you today? She may not be learning much about baseball, but probably a whole new vocabulary! None of it you can really use in normal conversation.
  23. I'd say "I don't believe it", but unfortunately, I believe it.
  24. This sucks. (Did I just say that or was that yesterday?)
