  1. yuck. its like a bad tasting hangover The kind where you can taste the Jack and the cheap cigar for about 2 days. You hit that nail right on the head!
  2. I may need to sign off early tonight because the only thing I can think to say is really not acceptable!
  3. Come on Cappy, get out of it with only 1 run.
  4. Ok, I've got to snap out of it - still really upset about game 1. With a 6-0 lead, I had visions of ending the day with a 4 1/2 game lead over the Cubs if the Reds could pull out another win. They better play a good one tonight!
  5. I dunno, I reckon Mench can go five or six octaves. His falsetto is to die for. Exactly what I was looking for, but couldn't come up with anything! Thank you! I knew there was something to add to that piano comparison!
  6. A piano would have better range in LF. There has to be more I can add to this, but can't think of anything. So, I guess that's a perfect description!
  7. If we'd actually get Gavin Floyd for Ball Four, that would be outstanding. Just can't imagine it happening.
  8. If Bill would never speak he'd be perfect. He's the only part of the broadcasts I don't enjoy. No kidding. Sometimes I don't have any idea what he's talking about! But he's entrenched. Who would we get, Gumby?
  9. Which is only 3 minutes longer than he usually takes between pitches. Good point.
  10. It has to be for some minor player that none of us have heard of and probably will never hear from again.
  11. Can't imagine Vargas is going to continue. What has it been, 45 minutes?
  12. Just pulled up weatherunderground and it sure looks like we'll be ok for re-start soon.
  13. Not sure how much of Scott Nguyen I can stand..... game better start again soon!!!
  14. Anyone have the radar up? Look like it's going to clear?
  15. The fact that Phillips made these comments should be enough to stop any rational discussion. Exactly.
  16. i wish he would have had some positive karma while with the brewers...maybe we traded him for jermaine dye Made my evening with that one!
  17. Jenks, Hart, and Dye would be an outstanding defensive outfield. Where would this leave Hall?
  18. Maybe it was the 12-pack of Miller High Life she had in the backpack!
  19. TheCrew07: I agree almost entirely with your post. I was just wondering if Mark A pressured DM a little bit into "making a deal". There's just enough that bothers me about it - like it's not a typical DM move. Even if Inman/Garrison/Thatcher don't pan out, I think we could have used them to acquire more in the off season (alone or in packages). It does seem like a desperate move.
  20. This may have been answered already, but does this deal mean Balfour goes to AAA? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he's out of options. So, he'll need to clear waivers in order to be sent down. And I think there's some question about whether or not he'll clear. Seems to be fair agreement that he has good stuff, but just pitched differently up here. A full year in AAA probably would have done him some good after injury, but now it may be another team that can take a chance on him.
  21. And they don't sell Miller.
  22. Just saw an update from Ken Rosenthal that the Crew is interested in Dye, but Williams is asking for Turnbow or Parra. MLB Rumors.com says "that seems reasonable". Yikes. I'm not sure I'd want to give up either one for 2 months of Dye. Edit: Sorry, maybe this has been stated already in the thread - just realized that update may have been a day or two old.
  23. 1. Barry Bonds 2. Gary Sheffield 3. Carlos Zambrano 4. Sammy Sosa 5. Jason Giambi 6. Roger Clemens Great thread!
  24. Its no factor at all. The team could just eat some salary to make him more attractive, and that would be the same as frontloading it. Agree completely. Any team that can get away with backloading a contract should do so as much as possible - simple value of money. The present value of the contract decreases as you backload it more. If anything, the contract would look just as attractive to other teams (assuming we would even go down the path of trading Soup). Too bad we couldn't have paid him $0 in '07, $0 in '08, $0 in '09 and $42m in '10! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
