  1. Forgot about the rain makeup game, the original schedule did have it as a three game set.
  2. If you skip him against San Fran and throw him in game 1 of the Cards series, then you have to skip another start of his to get him to pitch in the Cubs series, because there would be five games after his start vs. the Cards until the Cubs series.
  3. If you want to get that L10 column to show it was "4-6" instead of "4-Jun", format the cell as Text (sure you might have known that already, just throwing it out there in case you were going to use this going forward).
  4. Assuming Suppan is off the DL 07/22 and is in the rotation, here's how I would roll out the rotation if I'm Yost after the AS break through the Cubs series: SF: Sabathia SF: Sheets SF: Parra Off day: Skip McClung/Bush's start STL: Suppan (this is the first day he is eligible to come off the DL) STL: Sabathia STL: Sheets HOU: Parra HOU: Suppan HOU: McClung/Bush CHC: Sabathia CHC: Sheets CHC: Parra CHC: Suppan Gets you Sabathia/Sheets/Parra in five of our first six games out of the break, and gets us Sabathia/Sheets both against the Cubs and Cardinals. I was trying to align it so you could throw all three against both the Cards and Cubs, but wasn't having much success (I believe you'd have to skip a Parra start to have him throw against both the Cards/Cubs, but could be wrong). It should also be noted that assuming no one is skipped and there are no injuries, the Cubs will go 1-2-3-4 in their rotation against us.
  5. So up to the break the last 7 are we looking at McClung/Sabathia/Parra/Sheets/Bush/McClung/Sabathia? If Yost is smart, we will go Sabathia/Sheets/Parra/skip Bush on off day/McClung/Sabathia/Sheets/Parra/McClung/Bush/Sabathia/Sheets/Parra/McClung out of the all-star break. That leads us through the Cubs series, and gets us both Sheets/Sabathia against both the Cards/Cubs, and Parra against the Cubs as well.
  6. If the PTBNL was Hardy, there would be a mass riot in the city of Milwaukee. There is just no way they'd trade Hardy during a pennant race with the tear he's on now.
  7. Spare me with the "it should only amount to two wins difference" mantra. CC saves our pen almost every time he starts, and gives us the best 1-2 punch in NL when/if playoff time comes. And I don't buy two wins either. CC has 15 starts left assuming no injury. So 15 Sabathia starts vs. 15 Bush starts is only likelihood of winning two more games? Doesn't seem right.
  8. I expect some people to poo poo on this deal, but this is an exciting day, and I can't wait for the second half of the season. So is Sabathia pitching on Tuesday?
  9. I'm really shocked that people aren't willing to give up one of the three AA studs to land Sabathia, one of the best pitchers in the game. Our farm system is fine, we had a ton of picks injected into the system this year and will have multiple picks again in 2009. I'm all about having the best 1-2 punch in the NL on the hill. Get it done Melvin.
  10. There is no way we can get CC without giving up at least one of the AA studs. If I had my choice of who to keep between Gamel/LaPorta, it would be Gamel for our team. Higher OBP guy and he's left handed, while also having pretty solid power. If we could get it done for one of the AA guys, I'd be ok with it, but damn I'd be pretty much expecting the playoffs.
  11. No way you trade any two of LaPorta/Gamel/Escobar. Just no way in hell that is a good deal for Milwaukee. One of those three + Taylor + maybe something else is more than fair. And I will say this, if the Brewers do make this deal, they absolutely either have to: 1. Make the playoffs this season 2. Re-sign Sabathia 3. Both Or it is a horrible trade. This is a risky move regardless, I'm very high on the AA guys and think all three are going to be very good major leaguers. If this is done it had better only be one of those three.
  12. How do you know this? They pulled Gallardo out of the rotation last year. Like I said, they need Parra for 4-5 years after this one, not just the rest of this year. And we also want him to be available for the playoffs, so 175 regular season innings could lead to even more innings in the postseason. I don't "know", just making an educated prediction. I don't know why people are banking on us acquiring a top of the rotation starter, for one. Secondly, it's unlikely we run away with either the division or wild card, so Parra's services will be needed until the very end of the season. I mean, what do you think they will do, take out Parra and put Villanueva in the rotation with a wild card spot on the line, just so he won't go over a very debatable inning limit criteria? I just really highly doubt that is going to happen. And age does matter in this equation. An athlete is more developed physically at 25/26 than they are at 21/22, which was the case with Gallardo.
  13. He's on pace for 173 right now. He's pitched 16 starts and is on pace for 16 more. They are not going to pull him for an inning limit, especially with Gallardo out for the year and the team in contention for the playoffs. If his inning cap is 165 like you say, he's not going to be much over that anyway.
  14. Yeah, there is really no chance Parra gets replaced in the rotation, regardless of whether or not we acquire another starter. They aren't going to say, "well, we're in contention for the playoffs, but we're going to sit you down Manny because we don't want you to go over a certain inning criteria". Parra, barring acquiring another very good pitcher, is our 2nd best arm in the starting rotation.
  15. Actually, I wouldn't mind that either, and good idea getting Parra/Sheets against both division teams. I don't think we are getting CC Needsabathia though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. So you'd rather have Bush going against the Cubs than McClung? If they don't skip starters, whoever gets thrown at #5 out of the break will pitch against Chicago.
  17. If you throw McClung at #5 out of the AS break, it would give him ten days off, which might be good for his "dead arm". If Sheets pitches in the AS game, and you want to give him a break, give him the normal five days and throw him in game three of the SF series. That would keep him in line to pitch the final game of the Cubs series and still keep Bush out of the Cubs series as well, with it going McClung, Suppan, Parra, Sheets for the Cubs.
  18. Given we are given a clean slate to set up the rotation, I was looking at the schedule, and here is how I would do it after the break. Sheets Suppan Parra Bush McClung What this does is it allows us to go McClung, Sheets, Suppan, Parra against the Cubs. I'd rather have McClung against the Cubs than Bush, they really haven't seen much of him and just from memory it seems that Bush has struggled historically against the Cubs as well. This would give us Bush, McClung, Sheets in the series against the Cardinals the week prior.
  19. What's next? Natty Light?
  20. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. Enough of this short first baseman crap.
  21. The average batting average in almost 1500 PA's with a guy at 3rd and less than 2 outs is .322? That can't be right can it? That seems extraordinarily high.
  22. In an effort to instill an even playing field and prevent every hitting record since the beginning of time being shattered, MLB commissioner Bud Selig announced today that Russell Branyan is no longer allowed to face right-handed pitching. "We just can't afford to be giving out free baseballs like this every time 'The Muscle' steps to the plate", Selig quipped. "I mean, holy hell, someone's liable to get killed by one of those moonshots". When asked if this rule would be applied to other players league-wide, Selig retorted, "not until another guy is on pace for 1,278 HR's and a 5.189 OPS and 78 wounded souls". On a related note, the Brewers also announced that fellow 3B platoon partner Bill Hall will no longer be allowed to face any pitching whatsoever, citing, "lack of ability, overvalued sense of self, and bad agent advice" as the primary factors.
  23. Didn't Dillard get shelled the night before and throw a lot of pitches? Mota hasn't been very good lately, he needs some time off. It's a 162 game schedule, not 162 game 7's of the world series. You're right, lets just have Tavarez, a guy who sucks anyway and hadn't thrown that many pitches in years just lose the game for us. I mean, it's only one game right? If we lose the wild card by one game will you still think this way? I'd take Dillard any day over a second inning of Tavarez, especially when we saw what Tavarez had to go through the inning before.
  24. Letting Tavarez pitch to the heart of the order after scraping by a miracle inning the inning prior is an absolute joke, and I was yelling at him to take Tavarez out before he even pitched to Mauer/Morneau. That was about as predictable a blowup as you could have. And if you're going to ask me who I'd bring in, I'd go Dillard over Tavarez based on what he's shown so far all day every day, especially since Tavarez had already thrown an inning. And since when does Mota need two days rest after pitching two innings? Yes, Prince's HR was a matter of inches, and yes Hart messed up in the field, but that doesn't mean you get to stop managing. I'm done with Yost, the guy is a bum.
