  1. This team is a joke, plain and simple. Yost is a bum. Basically letting Tavarez blow the game takes the cake of his idiotic moves throughout the years. 6 for 6 choke jobs under Ned.
  2. Well, now that Castro is off the board, am hoping Friedrich falls to us.
  3. We are facing Oswalt (vs. McClung) first game of the Astros series.
  4. Well, that's obvious, but it is far from that point right now.
  5. The point is it's too early to start rooting for the Cubs. Not everyone is a statistical robot when it comes to pulling for certain outcomes, much of the fun of sports is the emotional attachment to it. I don't care what all of these formulas and projections say, I am not going to root for the Cubs. You could tie me to a chair and pluck my eyebrows out, still wouldn't root for the Cubs.
  6. The Brewers do not play a team that is more than 4 games over .500 (currently) until July 22, at St. Louis.
  7. Well, we play very well at home and none of those AL teams are worldbeaters, albeit the Twins and Jays are solid teams. Some ranks to maybe make you feel better. OPS: Baltimore (7th) Toronto (8th) Minnesota (10th) ERA: Toronto (2nd) Baltimore (8th) Minnesota (9th) So we're really not facing great offenses. I think we do better than 5-4.
  8. Ok, I'm going for some positive mojo here on the roadtrip. We have an ERA matchup advantage in all 6 games (not that that means a whole lot, just looking for positives here). Matchups: Sheets (2.71) vs. Jimenez (5.37) Bush (5.49) vs. Reynolds (5.72) Suppan (3.93) vs. Francis (5.53) McClung (4.25) vs. Oswalt (5.38) Parra (4.33) vs. Backe (4.54) Sheets (2.71) vs. Moehler (4.54) Colorado is really a bad baseball team all-around right now. I expect to win 2 of 3 there even though it's on the road, but I'm going to predict a sweep for the hell of it. I'll say we take one in Houston for a 4-2 roadtrip, putting us at 36-30 heading into the 9 game AL homestand.
  9. The Cubs, their employees, their fans, their fans pets, their fans' pets' pets, and the whole city of Chicago can go to hell and if the Cubs only have another 100 years of misery it won't be nearly enough. No chance in hell I root for them. I don't care what is said in this thread, nothing is going to change my mind.
  10. To answer your question - when they are mathmatically eliminated from the playoffs - using normal math, instead of Ned's math. What's the point of giving up hope? So you can be first on the Brewers aren't that good bandwagon? No. It's more just not getting hopes up for unrealistic expectations. Obviously I'll still follow the team and watch every game I can, but there is no reason to realistically think they can come back given the pitching personnel and how many games back we are.
  11. All that matters is games back. 7.0 is quite a bit. What people really need to stop saying is "it's early". It's not that early, it's 1/3 into the season. How long do we wait before we just say, "well, this team isn't as good as we thought"?
  12. Doesn't really matter. Brewers don't have the pitching talent to get back into the race, because they are not going to be able to string together a lot of wins consecutively when you're throwing out the starters we are.
  13. The only accomplishment is playoffs. The season is a failure otherwise, regardless of Yo's injury or not. Winning 85 games really doesn't mean anything to me.
  14. 60% home and 40% road gives us 56.6 more wins, or 80.6 wins on the season, not sure where you got 85 wins from. Right now this has the makings of a .500 team given the starting pitching and bullpen issues.
  15. Here are his MLB ranks: HR: 1st Total bases: 1st Slugging %: 1st He is also the only player all-time to have 40 HR and 40 doubles within his first year of service time. I bring this up because there were some people saying we don't know what kind of hitter Braun is yet. I think it is safe to say he's going to be great. The contract he just signed is going to look very good by the time it's completed.
  16. This is what I want next season: Hart (CF) Hardy (SS) Braun (LF) Fielder (1B) LaPorta (RF) Weeks (2B) Hall (3B) P Kendall © Hart has just as much speed as Weeks but is going to give you a .350 OBP. Hardy hitting after Hart provides more hit and run opportunities because he is one of our better contact guys, on top of the fact that he'll be hitting in front of Braun so he should see a good amount of fastballs.
  17. 4 games under is already a long ways back, and we still have seven consecutive road games before we finally start getting a favorable schedule. .500 by June 1? I will take that wager.
  18. I won't be happy unless we win 6. What I think happens is we go 5-5. 1-2 in Boston, 2-1 in Pittsburgh, 2-2 in Washington.
  19. He had one of the best rookie years of all time and was the fastest ever to 40 HR. Won ROTY. I don't know how all of that can possibly not show what type of player he is, which is at worst a very good one, and likely a great one. $5.6M a year for that buying out 2 FA years, there is nothing not to like about it.
  20. I was just wondering. We don't need to turn this into a bash Yost thread, but I was curious historically what the longest tenure of a manager was without the playoffs. Save your post for another thread.
  21. Was trying to find this information somewhere, without having any luck. I was just curious what the longest tenure of a ML manager has been for one team that didn't make the playoffs? I think it would be something interesting to look at historically, especially in regards to this team. Anyone know the answer?
  22. Furcal got moved to the DL today, so that helps. Need to be patient vs. Penny, otherwise it could be a really not fun game.
  23. Huge, huge game. 3.0 games back sounds a hell of a lot better than 5.0 games back. Especially given our next 6 are the Dodgers (going against their top 3 pitchers) and at Fenway.
