  1. So if the Brewers offer him arbitration is he guaranteed his salary this year? I don't think he is. Since he is a type B free agent a team does not have to give anything up to sign him, so is their any chance the Brewers get a draft pick out of him? Do you think someone will sign him before the Brewers need to make a decision on him?
  2. I started a thread on here in March titled "Is Barry Bonds being blackballed?" And I think 4 months later the answer is transparently Yes. Somehow every team in the AL has individually decided a guy with a .480 OBP and still hits homers just as well as anyone in the league is not worth the headache? Come on. Barry Bonds is the face of the Steroid Era and he plays the heel role as well as anyone in sports, I think Selig wants us to believe keeping Bonds out of Baseball means the Steroids Era is officially over. I just can't believe the Giants don't ask him back. Could you imagine that team if they had anybody that could hit a baseball hard?
  3. Where? Personally I don't want to lose Green, Brantley or LuCroy but speculation says it is one of them.
  4. Richie Sexson will be the ultimate test for the Golden Thong.
  5. Gamel should have swung the bat in the Futures game. The scouts must not have been impressed by the 0-0 with 2 BB's I guess I wouldn't want one of the best hitters in the minors on the team either.
  6. What would it take to get a Ray Durham? I would guess that a deal of the Hurricane and Brad Nelson would get it done but I often overvalue the prospects and undervalue players. Would Ray Durham qualify as a type B free agent? What type of 2B and 1B prospects do the Giants have coming up through the system? Are the Giants even buried being only 7 games out? That division is so bad that a good second half could actually see them taking the division as sad as that sounds.
  7. That's my opinion also. But I think Indians fans see the stats at the high level and young age for Brantley and become enfatuated. At least on this sight they did http://indians247.com/indians-talk/michael-brantley-ptbnl-list-my-choice-would-be-and-why/0/?PHPSESSID=86a067f8dbc24cacdce127bf8929eb6b I didn't really look at any other ones. Hopefully the Cleveland management doesn't understand the offensive stat boost that one gets from playing in Huntsville vs. playing at Brevard County. out of the 5 top prospects (Gamel, Escobar, Salome, Errecart and Gillespie) that played at B.C. last year and are now at Huntsville all of their OPS increased by at least .080 points and Gamel's incresed by .200. I think Green would be the toughest to lose followed by Lucroy
  8. I don't really understand why people get offended by strip clubs. It is usually the bachelor's wife that puts the kibbash on it. I was just at a bachelor party in the dells: Strippers, Golf, Casino and Bag Toss. Great Bachelor Party except for the sleeping situation. Camping sucks unless everyone has a tent and an air mattress. And Camping sucks even more when it rains out most of the weekend. Personally I would go up to a lodge in Wisconsin Dells for a weekend. Plenty of stuff to do.
  9. The Prince Trade talks I think should take a back seat for at least another 1.5 years. We have no 100% stud replacements waiting in the wings and Prince's value will be down this off-season. Now in 1.5 years everybody will be up in arms about how we can't trade Prince because he is coming off a 40+ homerun season, but that is the time to deal a guy when his value is rediculously high and we have Errecart or Gamel ready to replace him at 1B. And when the Brewers do trade him, IMO they should trade him for high end prospects that the Brewers control for 6 years.
  10. Really?? I like all those movies as much as the next guy but Road House, Rambo, and Top Gun aren't really kids movies. BTW I bought Road House on DVD yesterday ($4 at wal-mart) it was the first time I have seen an unedited version and it was great. I never really watched the whole thing straight threw before. I don't think I would ever recomend it to a person under 15 and I don't think a parent would ever feel real comfortable watching it with their kids.
  11. My dream off-season involves Mark A inventing a time machine going back to the 2006-2007 off-season-season and tell Melvin to take the season off. 2B-Rickie Weeks SS-J.J. Hardy LF-Ryan Braun 1B-Prince Fielder RF-Corey Hart CF-Mike Cameron 3B-Russell Branyan/Bill Hall C-Jason Kendall Bench Bill Hall/Russell Branyan Counsell Rivera Gabe Kapler Brad Nelson Starting pitchers Dana Eveland Gallardo Parra Davis Bush Pen Torres Riske Stetter Shouse Villanueva Dillard DeFelice That would be a payroll of about 73 million (which estimates about 10 million for Prince, 7 million for Hardy, 5 million for Corey Hart, and 4 million for Weeks which is probably high on all of them) with another 10 million of easily dumpable money (Cameron, actually we could probably easily renegotiate it down to 5 million). With that kind of payroll we could easily re-sign Sheets and with Doug Davis coming off the payroll in the winter of 2009-2010 there is money coming off the books to help pay for the contract. Plus we have studs at almost every position in AAA pushing the guys at the big league level. Personally I don't think Escobar is ready next year for the majors. At this point I would rather have a player be in the best position to make an impact right away at the MLB level rather than having the player learn on the job. At AAA we would have Pitchers- Inman, Garrison 1B-3B-OF - Gamel OF- Brantley, Gillespie SS-Escobar C-Salome But since there is going to be no time machine wiping out Melvin's mess ups. I will have to go with getting whatever we can for Supan, praying that the sheets bidding doesn't get to high so we can re-sign him. Seeing if we can get Cameron down to a reasonable number and going into next season with pretty much the exact same team.
  12. The movie that came to mind immediately when I saw the title is Second Hand Lions. It's a great movie in my opinion that never gets talked about. A Night at the museum is also OK, IMO.
  13. I am not going on long-term memory here. But the Doug Davis Move is looking worse by the day. Not just because of the move but because the subsequent moves after the trade and how good Davis and Eveland at 24 are doing. All we have left to show for the trade is Mota. Who most Brewer fans wish we didn't have. Add to it the Brewers needed to sign Suppan to replace Davis and have 25 million more to pay Suppan after this season instead of the 7 million that Davis will get and that difference of 18 million will be a major detriment in the Brewers ability to sign Sheets. Also figure that Davis is pitching better than Suppan. And last but not least to add insult to inury the Brewers gave up on Dana Eveland at 23. And now at the ripe old age of 24 Dana is throwing up a 3.50 ERA in the American League. I don't know about many of the old time trades. But this is the worst trade in my memory (Taking into account the last 10-15 years)
  14. Agent 39 could you ask Michael and Taylor to tank it till the PTBNL is named, so they have a less likely chance of being involved in this trade. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I like both players as prospects but I really think Taylor Green could be a Mat Gamel type prospect in a year and hope to see him in Milwaukee by 2010.
  15. I can't fall asleep without a TV. Once I turn on a TV past 8:00 though I can't stay awake past 5 minutes without doing something else while watching TV.
  16. I can't go to the game, hence won't use the tickets but want to play anyway. 10 runs, 9 pitches

  22. That is a $5 million rotation. If we can't re-sign Sheets or Sabathia when the rest of the rotation is making under $5 million for the next couple of years there is something wrong. However I agree with your premise. Without Sheets or Sabathia Suppan becomes vital to the staff.
  23. I guess that makes alot of sense. I just read so much conjecture and guessing represented as fact that I have a hard time believing anything. Whenever I think of a PTBNL I always feel that it is usually the lowest ranking player in the trade. In this case it appears that everyone is thinking the PTBNL is going to easily be the 2nd best prospect the Brewers are giving up.
  24. That could be. I guess I just don't get why they wouldn't just name Taylor Green in the trade instead of putting him down as the PTBNL. If your rules are right maybe its someone from last draft class that didn't sign till later. RJ Seidel comes to mind. Maybe it is dependant on whether the Brewers go to the post season or how far they get. Or maybe I am way over thinking this and Doug Melvin and Shapiro just wanted to mess with us and it will be Taylor Green.
  25. Also I keep hearing 5 picks in the first 35. Isn't it really about 5 picks in the first around 60 again depending on who signs Sheets and Sabathia??? We are not guaranteed a first rounder for those two I don't believe.
