  1. I want Braddock up but I have little doubt on what poor starting pitching does to our relievers. How long before Braddock is out with arm trouble?
  2. So the Brewers couldn't do the same? We throw DD 5 million too much, Wolf got 4 million too much.
  3. If that WAS the case, how more pathetic. Garza and Kazmir are two pitchers along with the Twins fleecing the Giants that I can think of right now if recent memory who were traded. Dan Haren is another one the Brewers could've possibly had.
  4. Francisco was no longer closing and then Melvin compounded matters throwing in Cruz to get Nix. Capuano already had TJ surgery and was dealt once along with De La Rosa. Stud prospects rarely get dealt twice. Throw in the fact that De La Rosa was dealt again for a backup middle infielder too. Define often? I could list over 20 decent younger pitchers or pitching prospects off the top of my head. In fact, I bet the Brewers could have Wandy Rodriguez instead of the junk we got from Houston for an All Star LF. I want to know if we turned back the clock to the classic game on FSN right now(Weeks/Fielder first homer game 2005), how many of us would be happy if we were told we would have 1 playoff appearance winning only one game in it? Then tell people that we would have CC Sabathia as a starting pitcher and that would still be the same. I guarantee that there would be a lot of GM's that could've had the same results.
  5. Stetter should've been moved at the dead line last year. He was pitching solidly and would've made sense at the time to be traded. Sell high.
  6. Melvin should've never been back last year. I've long considered how serious Mark A is at having a winning franchise or just is more concerned about current numbers at the gate.
  7. Considering he's among the league leaders in triples and as many homers as our power hitting catch the last two years, not many.
  8. I do not want to see Braddock up until Macha is gone. Pitching Coffey in blowouts shows this guy is absolutely gone when it comes to BP management.
  9. Wolf has been a bust so far. ERA now over 5.10 and he's given up runs to a couple of challenged hitting clubs.
  10. He also had a ton of good luck last night when the ball was put in play.
  11. It's hard to argue with a guy who is 42 and while his stats looked great last year, but he avoided trouble many times last year with a lot of line drive outs and deep fly balls. I can remember countless games he was the benefit of a lot of liners that were slugged right at his teammates.
  12. Bad salaries currently on Milwaukee's payroll include Suppan, Hall, Hoffman, Riske, and Davis alone. One could argue with Wolf but the Brewers did need a decent starter. This alone should be the final nail in the coffin which includes two bad coaching moves. ----------------------------------------- Moderator note: Given the age of the lead and given that similar discussion is occuring in "anyone else seeing big changes ahead?," I'm closing this and directing further discussion over there. --1992casey -----------------------------------------
  13. And after watching him today, I can see why. Great change of speeds.
  14. The guy just hit for the cycle(granted so did Chad Moeller) but he's the least of our problems. Jason Kendall started 140 games too many last year but for some reason we didn't DFA and he was beyond done.
  15. Cordero's price was too much and he was one of the main culprits for our poor finish in 2007.
  16. No he doesn't. He has trouble finding closers that work out for more than one or one-and-a-half seasons. So that's not trouble finding them? Turnbow made us trade for Cordeo. Cordero's meltdowns killed the Brewers in 2007 - two games stick out include the Ramirez dong game and the first game of a DH in St Louis. Gagne's were near terrible in 2008. And now Hoffman can't even record outs before giving up the game
  17. Bad News Brewers. New theme for Hoffman - Somewhere over the rainbow, Balls to the Wall, or maybe You shook me all night long.
  18. This reminds of ned going to Gags after blowing 3 in a row.
  19. Estrada pitched wonderfully. It just sickens me that they had another game won heading into the 9th only to watch Hoffman not record one out. This is as bad as the Torres meltdown in Zona.
  20. Well signing Hoffman to that deal is looking a bit more ridiculous than ever. Melvin has trouble finding closers.
  21. Tony should be the last person commenting on etiquette. The only reason they won the World Series vs Detroit is because of his "head games" with Rodgers.
  22. Cincy already is out of any chance to win the World Series with Dusty Baker as coach so let them showboat.
  23. After reading some more Estrada, he was rated highly by BA and throws in the low 90's with a solid changeup. Hardi was high on him earlier this year.
