    Andrus has a 684 OPS in a hitters paradise. Thats terrible. He belongs in AAA competing against Escobar. How about Jose Reyes?

    The team is at the bottom of plenty of pitching stats. Maddux was a HUGE loss last year that has always seemed to go unnoticed.

    Well if the team we trade him to doesn't sign him longterm, I'm assuming he would be a type A free agent and bring them in two picks. So in my mind it would be one year of JJ and two comp picks. But I also don't feel you can get a #2 type starter for that either, unless as someone said that pitcher is overpaid even for a #2. And if the Brewers are taking on that type of salary, that would probably take away all of Melvin's flexibility for other trades or signings.To get comp picks, doesn't the player have to have somewhat decent stats in the last two years to be regarded as such?

    Take a look at their last 7-8 starts and Penny has pitched much better of late in the AL.

    He's improving as of late while Looper is inconsistent. I would've taken Penny over Looper.

    Russell has a better BA and more homers. They are even in RBI's and SLG.

    Why is everyone so eager to give up Escobar? The guy has the ability to be another Jose Reyes. Count me in for a no. I'd be more willing to trade Gamel w/ Green which makes more sense along with JJ.

    JJ is better batting later in the lineup. He's up there hacking as usual. What day will he have his 4-4 game after 4 hitless ones?

    The thing that bothers me is that if they want Counsell in the game start him at short. I mean talk about complete stupidity right now. The golden boy Hardy swinging away again.

    W/O free agency, he would've went nowhere in Texas.

    Have you looked where Braun is at scoring runs this year? Maybe Doug might want to try a little harder at doing his job because one person is doing their's.

    The sad part is that Braun has improved his game into what those Braun's bashers complained about last year. Maybe Melvin can actually improve the team w/o having a CC fall in his lap because of Jack Z.

    Why is Gamel seeing less time than Billy I can't Can't hit Hall? This is disturbing and Braun should've called this one out as the obvious continues to show. Why not send him to AAA and let Heether play or Iribarren come up?

    I fault Melvin for a few things. First, the whole JJ won't play 3rd [language edited by mod]. I mean A-rod switched positions and he is 2 times offensively more production than JJ. And again, how long should the Brewers leave Escobar in Nashville? Hardy has trade value so why not deal him for pitching and let Escobar play? Everybody not stuck in a cave knew the Brewers did not have enough pitching to stay in the race so barring an injury the Brewers were really going to be in a rough spot. I also fault Melvin for not having any nads to keep Yost as long as he did. It was unacceptable and he was totally responsible for not ridding the Brewers of him two years too late. (edit: language --1992)

    You just said JJ has better stats in the last 3 years and you picked 2009. Let's see.....225 BA, .298 OBP and a OPS of .653 which includes a .365 slugging percentage. Then throw in the blazing speed of JJ with 5 career steals. Vs Escobar's stats of which isn't better? Hmm....2008 season when he batted .328, an OBP of .363 and had an OPS of .797. Well, there goes that theory. And I noticed how you changed the wording to try to fit your argument. I was just looking at the OPS that endaround posted earlier, which Hardy's was significantly higher. I'm not really big on the consistent vs streaky hitter thing (IMO its just all a huge coincidence), but do we know that Escobar is any better? He's seemed fairly streaky to me, and his career month-to-month splits jump around just as much, if not more. Impossible to be sure of this, but the point is that 1) the transition from AAA to the majors is not always seamless, and 2) a player's major league numbers are almost always going to be worse than in AAA. If Hardy's injury makes those points moot, then look at Rickie Weeks instead. Or just about every other player in the history of baseball. You might want to do some refiguring because this season alone is better than what those 3 average.

    Escobar's overall growth and game reminds me alot like Jose Reyes.

    What numbers are you going by BA and OBP? Something Escobar is higher than him in? Again, he's got 23 doubles, 5 triples, 3 homers, and a ton of speed. I do not understand this complete love for Hardy who is so inconsistent. Also, JJ missed most of 2004 before winning the job in 2005. You comparing what someone will do healthy vs someone coming back from an injury is like comparing a hockey team to a football team. There are no comparisons. Last 3? Are you talking 2009 or 2006 which are not at all impressive.

    By one year? And the stats aren't exactly a landslide like some of you like to portray. I'll also throw in the mix Escobar's stats this year where he now has 23 doubles, 5 triples, 3 homers, and 27 SB's with a batting average over .300 something Hardy has not done.
