  1. The 8 runs in the first are the same total they've had in the last 6 Yo starts.
  2. Considering Cameron has no business batting #2, Macha probably will still hit him here.
  3. A guy that has walked 65 and struck only 56 times tells me this guy knows the zone. He's turning this into a very solid year and showing why he's rated higher than Salome.
  4. Tonight's move...having a coach bat another promising rookie in the 9 hole. Unreal...Does anyone know Mark A.'s address or email one? This insanity has to end.
  5. Congradulations on making your first career start Alcides. BTW, you are batting in the spot normally reserved for the pitcher. This pretty much sums up the Melvin-Macha-Yost ERA. Suprised we didn't trade for Wes Helms to play 3rd base instead of Gamel.
  6. How can you not get excited about a kid that walks more than he strikes out? Holy cow....
  7. The biggest problem that Melvin has is evaluating talent within. Since the Brewers are lacking in arms and have a top SS, you trade your starting All Star SS before a season starts for pitching. When you have an Allstar LF and he is not going to sign, you trade him for pitching not underperforming players and junk (See Carlos Lee Trade.) The same could've been said for Sexson at the time. Sure we got Capuano and De La Rosa but Chris already had one TJ surgery and De La Rosa was all over the chart. Getting junk in deals for All Stars is something Melvin has a hard time laying off.
  8. Escobar batting 9th tonight. I can't imagine him being a worse hitter than Kendall.
  9. Sad thing is that Kendall can have 4 - 0-4's in a row and get King treatment.
  10. The biggest problem I have with the whole fiasco was JJ still starting when Gamel was up. I can understand the logic of playing Counsell at the time, but move him to short. Why have your top prospect riding the pine with JJ struggling to touch the ball swinging? I fault Ken for not playing him and Doug bringing him up not to play.
  11. That's all great but did they factor in how much less the BP would've been used? I mean they(Milwaukee) have one complete game. CC lead the majors last year. The biggest problem strapping the Brewers is salaries tied up to Suppan, Hall, and Riske.
  12. Then why didn't Melvin deal Hardy before the season and go with Escobar. It's hard to fathom him putting up an OBP in the .650's like Hardy. Then throw in the fact that Escobar can at least run. And why are people still trying to defend the Lee deal mentioning the picks for Cordero. If Lee walks like he did from texas, we would've had a year sooner compensation. At least those two players might have been a lot close to helping this organization than Dystra and Kelly Wuensch Part Deux. And considering the Dodgers and Angels were after Lee that year, the Brewers should've went after a young pitching prospect. What GM takes Mench in a deal when he already had Hart on the bench? Just ridiculous. And logic also tells us that Lee was an All-Star who was having a solid season that year. Melvin did not sell high. He also should've been canned by Mark when he made those knee-jerk comments on Braun. How many teams are ahead of the Brewers in ERA, complete games, and quality starts? BTW, is it Jack Z's fault Jeffress can't lay off the pot? He's had some misses. Who made the call on Rodgers that years? There were other players I liked and I certainly didn't like the mere fact they had to mess with his mechanics at all.
  13. ...right when Rivera has 8 RBI's in 2 games to Kendall's 29 RBI's on the year.
  14. Hardy didn't exactly have a boatload of time at AAA before he had an opportunity to have the job in the majors? He missed 3/4 of the season at AAA.
  15. Pretty sad that in two days he nearly had over a 1/4 of the RBI's that Kendal has on the year.
  16. And just how do Jason Kendall's great stats pile up vs other starting catchers.
  17. Block Gamel? With Macha as coach? How does this even make any sense? He didn't sign a blockbuster deal with Seattle. He could've easily played 3rd this season. Let's compare salaries vs productivity with Hall and Branyan. I bet that's not Doug's fault either? Anyhow, the SS was clearly the position Melvin could've addressed by trading Hardy for pitching last season after CC fell through and Sheets not coming back.
  18. Knowing nothing of the game describes 90-95 % of Cubs fan.
  19. Amazing that this is like the Packers under Sherman. Basically, Melvin is playing the role of Sherman and Macha is playing the role of Brett Favre. Again, I said last year Kremblas got the raw deal when all this happened. Castro had ZERO business as the pitching coach.
  20. Too bad the Dodgers who are hard up for pitching gave away Vargas. I wanted Davis when the year started but right now this makes absolutely zero sense.
  21. Let's start comparing the success of the Mariners vs the Brewers for arguments sake. Jack Z took Melvin out back in the Branyan deal. Anyhow, this was a long time coming. JJ should've been moved in the offseason. The main reason we kept Macha was because of his station to station play and the let's wait the homer offense. We've been playing this way since 1998.
  22. Doug Melvin should've never made it through last year when Yost was fired. His hiring of Ken Macha was like Mike Sherman hiring Tom Rossley as offensive coordinator. His trades of not getting market value in the Carlos Lee deal still upsets me because he traded for an underperforming reliever and a bad defensive, average offensive player in Mench. He was slow and most of his homers came in one month. Then the mere fact he became obsessed with Laynce Nix in the deal was even more crazy. No one actually knows what the Angels offered for Carlos Lee that year but there were reports that Ervin Santana was possibly included. I hate when GM's give up All-Stars see Greg Vaughn, for garvage in return. Wasting 10 million dollars on Gagne was absolutely brutal last year. The Riske and Suppan signing have been a trainwreck along with now Bill Hall's 12 million dollars we are eating. I suggested two years ago for getting Terry Ryan in replace of him and was flamed out of this forum. My next beef if the way we've treated "some" of our young players when we've called them up. Instead of letting them play, they rot on the bench. I COMPLETELY PUT THE BLAME ON MELVIN FOR THIS. This started with Corey Hart in 2006 when Mench and Jenkins saw the field over him. This also counts for Gamel rotting on the pines and Escobar not starting last night. I also fault him for giving Castro the job when our BP has not been worth a crap since he's been here. Why would you promote this guy? My last beef was getting rid of Frank Kremblas instead of getting rid of Yost two years too late. Doug Melvin is a middle of the pack GM. He's not great and he's not horrible. For some reason he was completely worshipped here because of how bad Wendy and Bando were.
  23. Has anyone considered him the MVP of this season or mentioned it? Does what happened this year take away from the amazing season he had last year? I guess people's idea of amazing and consistently good differ?
