  1. Maybe this is why Kotarras has stopped even trying to throw down there on stolen base attempts. Seems like they had a shot at Holliday last night, and the throw was never made. I've seen it quite a few times this year where the throw is not even attempted.
  2. I was thoroughly against the argument that Wolf is a left-handed Suppan, but now I am trying to remember why I was thinking this isn't the case. Forget me being demoralized, the whole team looks demoralized. Macha looked demoralized in April. Whatever, I'm just glad I have don't HAVE to watch this.
  3. That's right, I remember now. There was surmounting pressure to open the books, so her and the group put it up for sale. She cashed in and THEN sold the team. I remembered it wrong. Either way, Bud did great things for baseball in this town, but Wendy could have really cared less. She just wanted the money. Where did you get that impression from? I rode an elevator with her one time and jokingly asked her if she had good seats for the game. Her reply is how I formed my impression.
  4. I happen to like it, and think it makes the game better by getting almost every call right. We really don't need fumbles not being called costing a certain team a shot at the NFC Championship game. That doesn't add anything to the experience, unless you are a fan of the team getting the benefit of the blown call, and even they should feel a little cheap deep down.
  5. Games are long enough now, I don't feel like having every bang bang play result in a 5 minute delay as 80% of turnovers, and sideline catches in football result in now. What and what? Exaggeration aside, why can't they, instead of spending five minutes yelling and kicking dirt at each other, use the time to go get the stinking call right? 80% of turnovers and sideline catches are reviewed? What? I think I read a study that showed the average length of an NFL game increased by 4.5 minutes subsequent to the reinstatement on instant replay. The angle taken by Davey Nelson and Bill Schroeder yesterday just reinforces why I can't stand to hear them talk. What's next, are we going to review every ball and strike? That line of thinking is poppycock. We are not talking about balls and strikes, we are talking about clear missed calls on the basepaths. Many of them.
  6. Still have a lot of respect for her I was under the impression she did it because she was sick of being around baseball everyday and wanted to cash in. I had no idea she did it for the fans.
  7. To be honest I could care less which of the soft tossers are bumped from the rotation to facilitate that. You say it's going to be Bush? Fine by me. I agree. I don't see how Bush has the right to be upset about anything. He's a piece to one of the worst pitching staff's in baseball, and as Macha put it, if you want pitch, step up. The only thing the Brewers owe Dave Bush is $4.215M.
  8. Eric Arnett--there I said it. This is the reason the Crew is doomed to mediocrity. We are wholly incapable of producing starting pitching that is meaningful. They need to go out and find a guy who can actually recognize young talented pitchers and sign him to lots of money--whatever it takes, a guy with a track record. I don't want to throw this thread completely off topic, but I listened to Bruce Seid on WSSP this morning and started thinking how this team is doomed. Hyping guys like Arnett and Heckathorn as pieces to a Championship caliber rotation does not give me much confidence in this guy, nor did his overall interview. Just didn't come across as being any more than a scout in Director's clothing.
  9. This makes me a bit jealous of the Orioles.
  10. Heether was more useful to the Brewers right now than Jeff Suppan. Mole-skin jeans are more useful to the Brewers right now then Jeff Suppan. Every move made that doesn't involve removing Jeff Suppan from the Milwaukee Brewers is a move made to keep Jeff Suppan on the Milwaukee Brewers.
  11. "But I don't have any idea what's going on." Join the club Dave, we are right there with you. Well, let's see in the first two months of the season they have seen their closer completely blow up, DL stints by their starting C, CFer, 4th and 5th OFer, 3/4 starter, and primary set up man. That's what you get when you are counting on a 40 year-old 4th OF, a 38 year-old C, Doug Davis, a 42 year-old closer, a 37 year-old setup man, and Jeff Suppan. Other than that, the DL stint from Gomez was unfortunate, the one by Gerut is completely negligible, but the rest of it was all rather foreseeable to me.
  12. what specific evidence or indication is there that Heether (and Stern) was waived because DM wants to keep Jeff Suppan on the roster? Heether is not on the 40-man, Suppan is on the 40-man. Not sure what piece of evidence you are looking for here, the two names written on a piece of paper with a circle around one of them?
  13. He's not panicking, he's comatose. As in, on TV last night, Melvin looked completely comatose. Viva la Jeff Suppan.
  14. Wish it could be a more favorable matchup for Cappy to come back to, but he has defied the odds up to this point. Why stop now, right?
  15. I guess I have been hardened by the reality and business of baseball. I don't carry many emotional ties to any of these guys. Sure I had some Jr. baseball cards as a kid, and played his video game, and pretended to be him when doing my mandatory LH switch hit in our sim game, and so on. But these guys need to retire already. Sticking around when they suck is painful to watch, and to listen to them believe they can correct it, or work it out, or think they should be playing everyday is even more painful. I guess I relate more to the game itself, and not necessarily the players all that much.
  16. Or maybe he was just one of thousands of flash in the pans that had a good year or two.
  17. Not to mention it could cost the Brewers MORE MONEY to let him get that milestone nobody really cares about. According to Cots: 1 year/$8M (2010), plus 2011 club option * signed extension with Milwaukee 10/5/09 * 10:$7.5M, 11:$7M mutual option ($0.5M buyout) * price of 2011 option may increase based on GF in 2010: o $7.5M ($0.75M buyout) with 35 GF o $7.75M ($1M buyout) with 40 GF
  18. TooLive, stop messing with the Brewers marketing department http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. And it will be marketed as some kind of big deal, even though it is really pathetic that it will have taken so long and so many tries. I would hope the Brewers marketing department already realizes the fans could care less about Hoffman hitting 600 saves. If they don't know yet, they are not doing their job.
  20. I think those contacts are starting to work. I have to admit, so far, I was way off on Hart. He's been incredible the last 18 games.
  21. I'm thinking $8M/2 years, club option for third year at $6M with $2M buyout. We can put up a countdown to 650 banner in left field for motivation.
  22. Okay. Axford gave up a run. Time to move Hoffman back to the closer's role imo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifWhat's nice about Axford is when he struggles, he gives up one run. When Hoffman struggles he gives up three or more.
  23. I've seen these. Makes you wonder who is in charge of some of these jurisdictions.
  24. Makes perfect sense to me - after all, their time is far more valuable than mine. That's hard to say, but my point is people should be bothered by the intersection itself, not the driver trying to get to where they need to go.
  25. Gallardo not nearly as sharp as he was on Friday. Granted he's not precise, but McGehee cost him 6 pitches in the first, and now Weeks will cost him some pitches. Its just gross.
