  1. Weeks is hurt. He is getting the day off. At least know what is going on. That was dreadful baseball that inning.
  2. Pujols is hitting the market after this season and will be 31 when the season starts next year. He is asking and going to get a long and expensive contract. Why is having braun locked up for those years a bad thing? Especially when you look at the 150 mil or so that he will get from 08-20 is just under 12 mil a year. I would say we are getting quite a deal here. Braun is in great shape and even if he declines a bit in those years, we get a bargain now and overpay a little then. It all evens out.
  3. Well there are just less than 10% white americans in the NBA with another 19% of white international players. It is because there are less great white players. Basketball is a priority for alot of the inner city black kids and baseball is just not played. Hence, you have more black players in the NBA and less in MLB. This is just another example of racial equality stepping over the line and coming into something they shouldn't. Talent is what drives this, not any racial issue.
  4. This may be the worst comment yet. He has been pretty good in the field actually. And his bat has not been awful either. He has gotten his hits, sac flys when needed, and will have a hot streak at some point. And while his OBP is probably going to be low, his average will be fine at some point. We have enough high OBP hitters so it is not uncommon to have at least one or two low average guys in your lineup.
  5. How many times can you post in a row saying essentially the same thing? This snow storm knocks out my Dish and miss the Brewers taking it to Halladay, darn it You tell me. How many time are people going to say Yuni sucks, Gomez is horrible, what an awful at bat, he is a joke.. You can answer your own question I guess.
  6. We are going to beat Halladay and the thread is still full of glass half empty comments. Man, that is a tough world to live in. Yuni and Gomez can get hits. I know it is a shock to some but it does happen.
  7. Did you just start watching baseball this season? This may sum up how the Yuni haters see his play. A bad hop play is seen as the worst ever. So you either have seen very little baseball or just look for ways to kick the guy.
  8. And my question is, what are you hoping to accomplish with the complaining? All your complaining does is drive many of us who realize that there isn't much that can be done at this point batty. If that is your aim, I suppose your complaining is accomplishing its goal. If that's not it, what purpose could it possibly serve? Wouldn't it be better just to accept, for now, that what we have is the best our team was able to put together going into the season? Accept that, and hold out hope for the future that Melvin makes a deal to bring an average to above average SS to Milwaukee at the trade deadline? I would think that being hopeful for the future is a whole lot better for one's health/sanity than constantly be lashing out and raging over something that is out of our control and isn't likely to change in the near future. I have tried to take this approach and have said as much in a couple different threads. But some feel the need to complain and bash him, over and over, when we have so many others that have the same defensive issues he does. Cruz and Punto are not upgrades and this is what we have. I think most would love to have a premium SS but that is not going to happen anytime soon. We can hope he hits something like he did last year and the errors don't come in bunches. Maybe we get lucky later in the year and someone becomes available. But I would not be surprised if nobody does.
  9. Please defend not using a lefty against Howard. Or still hitting Gomez second. Or playing Kotsay over Morgan before Morgan was injured. Well I hate Stetter so I would not trust him against anybody. Gomez probably should not be hitting second but with our lineup I am not sure who else there really is until Hart comes back. As for Kotsay I have no idea. Maybe he was just giving Kotsay a game? It's not that deep into the season so he is giving everybody their chance. That is the only one I am not sure about. So there you go. I guess there are different opinions out there and reasons behind these things.
  10. I was waiting when the first manager posts would come. Well I guess the under came in. It only took 16 games. It doesn't matter who manages, the minute there was a losing streak some would think he stinks and they know all the moves. It really is entertaining stuff.
  11. Well when you trade for a pitcher like Greinke (and are not the Yanks or Sox) you are going to have an issue because of finances. My only question I have is what other cheap options are there? I have seen plenty of fictional trades and "what we should have done" statements and none of them are realistic. It is so much easier to make this stuff up on a message board when you don't have to back them up. Melvin would sit and laugh at the stuff that people write and may actually believe. Knowing that the brewers need a SS, I doubt other teams are just going to give the brewers a fair deal to upgrade their team. We all want great players all over the field but that is just not realistic in Milwaukee, where there are financial restrcitions. And believe it or not, there are worse players in the league, right now. Look at the Mariners lineup or look at the bottom 3 on every team. You can complain about his defense but don't say his offense is worse than what other teams have. Look around the league a little bit. Those words make you sounds like you have not seen another game besides the brewers. Plenty of below average players out there.
  12. It's NOT these 13 games that have shown Betencourt is awful. It's the 3000 at bats he's piled up in the previous 7 years that show he's awful. Expecting that to somehow change in the next several weeks is not the same as expecting Weeks and McGehee to revert to their career norms. That is exactly my point. He may not have the range that everyone wants but he is going to hit in the.260-.270 range with only a slightly higher OBP and decent power. If he limits the errors and hits like that it will compliment the pitching and the speed and power this team has. He will not be as bad as some apparently want him to be and will probably be better than our other options. So I was not expecting him to change. I am expecting him to be what was advertised and it will not be the end of the world. Our defense is a concern but that is because we have Casey, Yuni, Weeks, Prince, Kottaras, and Braun in the field and are all average to below average defenders. Saying Yuni is the sole problem is just short sighted. I didn't mention right field because I am assuming Hart and Morgan will fill that spot above average.
  13. If what you have seen with Betancourt has been terrible you are going to have to add a bunch of other guys to the list. It's so early in the season so stats are tough to use for determining this. His average is low but he has hit some balls hard and sooner or later will get his average up. He also has a few errors but so do others. But if this 13 games has shown that he is awful I suppose Weeks, Gomez and Casey are awful as well. Which is not the case. It is just so early and from what I have seen in the 13 games is not awful. We just need more time to see what happens. I like the way this team is setup and if the pitching holds up we are going to win plenty.
  14. I thought I would add most first baseman make that play at home while I am at it. Hard hit and regardless of the lead they would have got the runner. That is all. Good night all!
  15. I knew when I came back to the thread tonight what the reaction would be. But sorry to tell you but any, and I mean any, other first baseman makes that a routine play. He had to stretch a little but it hit right off his glove and wasn't that much of a stretch. It looked tough for Prince because he is not tall and not very good at 1st. But that is as routine as it gets for anyone else. But as expected, all the blame goes to Yuni. Shocking! Back at it tomorrow with Yo.
  16. I would trade Betancourt straight up for every single one of these names and for a number of the backups for these players as well. He really is just terrible and we could have replaced him for league minimum most likely. Well I am thankful you are not the GM of this team with that comment. Because he has not been terrible and I am guessing you are just stuck with the comments you have read and are not changing your mind. He is on our team and will be here for this year. I will let this debate rest now and let all these stat debates go on. He will hit better than Escobar did last year and even if he has as many errors as Escobar, he will still be an upgrade over what Escobar did "last" year.
  17. Well apparently a guy named Melvin thinks he is suitable enough to be on this team seeing he did not find the replacement everyone seems to want. We don't have an endless amount of money and we traded for a stud pitcher and had to go with Yuni at SS. He has been fine so far and I cannot understand the hate for this guy already. I will take our rotation and take him at SS without hesitation. Take a look at the list below and look at what other team are starting at SS minus some of the elite guys. Not the scariest of lists. But reading the chat, I guess we are suppoed to have studs all over the field like the yankees. All I am trying to say is that we are not as bad as some like to think and I am not sure who they wanted to go out and get. We didn't have money to spend and there really was little out there to get. Considering the rest of our team once Hart and Greinke come back, I am happier as heck with the roster we have assembled. It's almost like a dream..... Angel Sanchez Willie Bloomquist Jamey Carroll Paul Janish Ryan Theriot Danny Espinosa Miguel Tejada Ian Desmond Jason Bartlett Asdrubal Cabrera Jhonny Peralta Alcides Escobar Derek Jeter Brendan Ryan Elvis Andrus JJ Hardy Jed Lowrie Marco Scutaro
  18. So far I would say he has been plenty good on both sides. Glove has been fine and he has been hitting the ball hard. He'll have his hot streak and get his average up a bit just like a few others in the lineup.
  19. Hardy has amazing range so you're entire premise is wrong You forgot the blue font.
  20. This is a true "homer" post. Look at the stats man...if this pitching holds up...World Champs for the Crew!, but I am trying to be realistic. How does Gomez serve a purpose...as a 9th inning defensive replacement? Homer? Saying good pitching wins games is just common sense. The pitching won't always be great but over the course of a season it will be consistently better. And Gomez is more than a defensive replacement. There are teams with guys worse than him starting. It's just that people have grown to hate Gomez and point out everything he does wrong and are all over him everygame. He can go 2 for 4 and people will complain he flew out on a first pitch. He may not be an elite player but he is far from useless. As was said above, he would be much better suited in the 8th slot and having Morgan hit 2nd for the next couple weeks until Hart returns. But he is nowhere near as bad as most would like to think.
  21. This is the perfect example of small sample size being brought out. When you have good pitching you only need a few guys to be hitting and the other guys at least doing the little things correct. Like Gomez did tonight with just a simple sac fly. The key to the season is pitching and different guys will get hot at different times. I agree that Morgan will probably play more than Gomez at some point once Hart comes back but he serves a purpose on this team. This team has all the components and I cannot wait until Hart and Greinke get back somewhere in the next couple weeks.
  22. I find it funny the same people who loved Hardy are complaining about Yuni's range. JJ had the same lack of range. They are very similar players except for the fact JJ is hurt all the time. It just gets old that even when the team wins a 6-0 game there are numerous posts about Gomez and Yuni. We got it, you don't like them. But how come when they make outs, they suck and Weeks, Casey, and others slump and there is nothing. I think that would be classified as selective hating on players.
