  1. He is my favorite kind of player to root for. I thought he was great for us last year.
  2. I find the best way to find the true value of something is to look on Ebay and then hit the "sold listings" button on the right to see what recent ones have actually sold for (not what they are listed at). If you are willing to take $250 for 100 bobbles I would make a list and take some pictures and put that listing here and on Craigslist (assuming you are still in Wisconsin) as I think they would likely move at that price. Make sure you don't have the Blue Molitor, Blue Gorman Thomas etc as those are still holding their values okay. I think selling a 100 piece lot would be difficult on Ebay.
  3. The Twins do smaller bobblehead numbers and fans have to line up hours in advance to get one. One time on the radio I heard some guy almost literally crying about how the Twins didn't have the same number of bobbles at each gate and it wasn't fair how he didn't get one.
  4. This was a very nice and very touching post.
  5. I remember Gallardo as a guy who would get two quick outs and then walk two batters and then give up a hit and then another walk and escape only giving up one run but throwing about 27 pitches in an inning where it looked like he would have 8-10.
  6. On the Webcast Brian Anderson just said at the end of the year when Uecker hangs it up the headset is going straight to the Hall of Fame. He then corrected himself to say "or whenever he hangs it up. I sure hope this isn't so.
  7. How are the Brewers being ridiculous by removing one of the worst starters in baseball out of the rotation?
  8. It's situations like this that makes everyone hate unions.
  9. He quickly jumped to the top of my list of least favorite Brewers with his attitude.
  10. The book "The Perfect Mile" by Neil Bascomb is excellent if you are all interested in that 4:00 minute mile quest. As for Lucroy and the stamp I got back a card (Topps 2014) and it was completely smeared and almost totally on the envelope but other players who signed cards from the same set were fine so if it was a stamp that would explain the complete smearing. Disappointing. I would rather receive no reply than a stamp. At the very least a little letter like Yount sends explaining he can't sign that many cards.
  11. The only thing better about Target Field is the view of Minneapolis and as others have said I will take the tailgate experience. San Francisco and Pittsburgh both have better views if you are into that kind of thing. I have been to 26 stadiums and I rate Pittsburgh as my favorite but Milwaukee ranks very high because of the tailgating scene and the certainty of there actually being a ballgame.
  12. With the Brewers playing in LA, where Braun lives, I doubt that Braun is that bothered by not making the team. 7 days at home probably sounds pretty good.
  13. I've been a little bothered by Lucroy since the ESPN or SI article (I subscribe to both and can't remember which magazine it was) on his pitch framing where he basically said he was underpaid and blamed Weeks and Braun for telling him to take the money as soon as it was offered.
  14. I live in MN so the Twins seem like a great choice. They are also the only other team I "follow".
  15. This won't help you now but I got Wang's autograph in a very interesting way. Last year my wife surprised me by sending letters to the Brewers and asking them to sign birthday cards for my 40th birthday. She ended up getting 28 players and all the announcers tv and radio, most of the coaches, manager, GM, and the owner to reply. It was really crazy opening all those letters. Anyway I was going through her stuff and found more blank cards and thought since I had so many autographs from last years players it might be cool to try to complete the 2014 team so I sent a bunch out in Spring training and was 1/6....but 2/7 if you count Wang which I got in a round-about way. I was at spring training and I was talking to Tim Dillard for a while down on the minor league fields and one of the things he told me was that his locker was next to Wang's. I started thinking about Wang not answering the autograph request and thought maybe it was a language barrier so when I got home I wrote Tim Dillard a letter and told him about the birthday cards and asked him if he could get Wang to sign it for me which he did. Tim remembered talking to me and included a real nice letter. Wang wrote happy birthday and then his signature in Taiwanese and it looks awesome.
  16. I have been a subscriber for a long time and they always have issues in the first week or two of the season. It's always frustrating.
  17. It should also be noted that if you are a season ticket holder (as I am) you get access to upgrades 1 hour early and you get 20 percent off the upgrade price. We also had $20 added to our upgrade account as a 20 game holder.
  18. It's funny you mention that but the Brewers sent out an email yesterday so I was looking at it in the second inning and I could have moved 3 rows behind the dugout for $22. So I guess that means the price might drop as the game progresses. I was on a couch in Saint Paul so not really an option. The problem for me is I only go on summer weekends so availability would be much less than a week night in April.
  19. As a Brewer fan and Braun apologist I no longer feel right commenting on these situations.
  20. John I really enjoyed reading those last two posts. Very touching.
  21. I was waiting in line for a beer when I took that.
  22. I pretty much agree with this. Not only do I snicker at the guy with his own name on the back of the Jersey (although, perhaps it's from a fantasy camp...which would then be completely understandable..but how would you know?), but I also snicker at the guy with the Turnbow or Sabathia jersey/t-shirt. That's why I too tend to go with the generic Brewer garb sans player name. I guess if I were to get a Jersey and felt the need to put a name on the back it would probably be someone like Yount or possibly Molitor. Afterall my license plate is 19 HOF. Speaking of names on Jersey, get this....Last week we were at Thursday's ST game at Maryvale vs. the Rockies. We were sitting out on the LF berm. In front of us was a guy wearing Brewer Jersey with the name "SATAN" and the number "666" on the back. He also had a tattoo of a pentagram on his left forearm. I didn't get a picture, but my son did. If I remember I'll have him email it to me and I'll post it here. I saw him as well and took this picture for my wife. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v672/loveridge/DSCN6220.jpg
  23. I returned from a trip to AZ about a week ago and as I sat and watched the Brewers top prospects play a intersquad game from literally one foot away from the dugout (which is chainlinked) and I could hear the players telling dirty jokes and laughing and then I could hear the coaches comment on them and their at-bats etc. as they took the field I thought once again that everyone is insane to want a new facility. I've been to maybe 6 or 7 facilities in AZ and several in Florida and none of them offer the kind of access that Brewer fans enjoy.
  24. I think people that read a statement like this (and I have seen similar statements on this site), and have never been there, think "geez sounds dangerous!" and picture driving through a neighborhood where there is constant gunfire and gangs roaming everywhere. When we go there, we generally take I-10 and get off at 51st street, taking that straight to the park (a little less than 3 miles). With the exception of maybe 1 or 2 games, all of the games are day games and I have never felt at all in harms way driving to or from the park. To me it's no scarier than driving through West Allis (where I grew up) or down Capitol Drive in Milwaukee during the day. And once you are in the park, there is zero thought of being in any type of "bad" neighborhood. The really nice thing about the park is the easy access to the practice fields. I don't think all the ST parks have this. This is me being a bit selfish, but I do fear that if they move to a "nicer" community that the crowds will get bigger and the prices will increase a bit. The crowds getting bigger would be puzzling to me, because that would mean people were avoiding Maryvale because of the neighborhood...which is silly. I guess I can understand the complaint about the neighborhood if you don't plan on getting a rental car. Otherwise, there really is no reason to stay near the park. Even if the Brewers moved to Mesa, or Scottsdale, or wherever, we would always just stay at a place that offers us the best value for our money and drive to where ever the Brewers happen to be playing. Edit: I guess the analogy I would use is if the Milwaukee area was a ST site (ignoring the weather), it seems like it would be similar to a park being in West Allis, or 76th and Capitol when all the other parks are in places like Mequon, Elm Grove, and Germantown. Ditto. Literally my exact thoughts.
  25. Mystery solved. I mailed 6 letters together so it's unclear why the one was returned but that makes sense. Is Matt Clark considered a minor leaguer?
