  1. His contract is so bad at this point that I might try to trade him for whatever we can get assuming the team takes the entirety of the contract off our hands which would obviously be disappointing to get nothing for a b2b MVP but his contract literally has the ability to ruin the franchise.

  3. Last year I flew into Arizona with plans to drive to Flagstaff to spend the night before heading to Monument Valley. Our plane was delayed and it resulted me pulling into our hotel in Flagstaff at 3:00. I was dead tired and walk into the lobby and an older guy is talking to me while I check in and he notices my Brewers cap and tells me is a Brewers fan. Then he says well I was when Cecil Cooper played there. I told him Cecil was my favorite player of all time and he said that he was also his and that his fandom followed him from Boston to Milwaukee. I'm probably near the youngest person who would list Cecil as my favorite player at 45 and this man was probably near 80 and we shared a real moment in the dead of the night at some cheap motel and it made me wish that I could someday run into Cecil to share with him that story.
  4. I would think every sports team is worth 50 percent of what it was worth in March. Who would possibly spend billions of dollars when you don't know when fans will be back and if and when another virus will hit.
  5. Others may remember 1971 I mean I don't because I was born in 1974 but I've sure read about it a lot. I sort of feel that way about this proposed baseball season way more than this basketball season. Enough of the season had been played as to where it was pretty clear who was going to make the play-offs and who the top teams were and the right teams enter a play-off tournament on equal footing where they are planning on playing full series. The problem with half or less than half a baseball season is we have seen huge surges and drop-offs in the second half of the season where teams that were locks didn't make the play-offs or the other way around.
  6. All this talk about how we need daily testing for 200 people at a stadium is silly. We have 1000 people or more at my work every single day since this has started and nobody has been tested or even sick.
  7. I had a two 20 pack tickets living in Minnesota for like 12 years because of the rewards etc but after 2018 they wouldn't let me renew. They called me a scalper and when I pointed out that I typically lost a little bit of money every year so I would be the world's worst scalper they just said that is it how it was. Usually I attended 3 games each year but would use the upgrade system so I would sell 17 games and use 3 but not sit in them. I was told by a different employee they are less interested in having season ticket holders because of the secondary market and the fact that the seats are so cheap it effects walk-up sales. etc.
  8. Although in that division 90 wins doesn't mean much. The Twins were likely the worst 100 win team of all time last season thanks to playing in a division with Detroit and Kansas City and going forward it appears Cleveland will step back to where Chicago was last season.
  9. I think the word "bad" in referring to his season is too positive. That was an all-time train wreck of a season.
  10. Wow. You can be historically bad and still get a $4MM dollar pay day. I don't see him turning it around. He had two stints in the minors to figure it out and was unable. He better hope he starts out hot or his confidence will all but be gone. I foresee a year like Broxton had last year where he is on 3 teams and is looking at a Minor League deal next season.
  11. I wish they would built a general public section because I notice those are popular at other ballparks for people who like to drink and talk and aren't so interested in the actual ballgame.
  12. If you have a rental car and you like hiking there is an amazing hike to hot springs near the hoover dam. You are going at a perfect time to enjoy sitting in the hot springs. There are a few spots where you have to use some existing ropes so you need to be in fair shape but it's amazing. It's called Gold Strike Canyon and it starts at the base of the new(ish) overpass bridge for the Hoover Dam (The Pat Tillman Bridge). You should be able to use Google to find the trailhead and some information about the hike. When we first hiked it maybe 15 years ago there was literally never anyone there but the internet has made it more popular but it's still pretty quiet. I've done the hike maybe 10 times and loved it every time. I recommend walking past the hotsprings all the way to the river where you get an awesome view of the bridge. The hike takes maybe 4 hours round trip with some soaking time. I also recommend Red Rock Canyon as an easy to get to place to see some really cool dessert scenes and do some hiking if you enjoy that kind of thing.
  13. Carrot Top is always good. People dog him but there is a reason he is the longest standing headliner. I also really love "Love". If you like the Beatles at all it's worth seeing.
  14. I don't live in Milwaukee and I have driven through Milwaukee a few times on the way to other places and I always stop at Friday's just to soak up the vibe of the place and think about baseball. I have done the same thing in the Phoenix Friday's which is more or less the same set up.
  15. I live in Minnesota and the Twins just started the same policy more or less and they enacted it immediately.
  16. Paul George had both shoulders operated on so I think he's a question mark at best.
  17. I have been attempting to get a closer/reliever to enter to enter to the Phantom of the Opera Overature since Turnbow. So far no luck but I have not talked to Hader yet. Most of the guys I have talked to seem confused so this year when I went to ST I had it loaded up on my phone but I had no contact with Hader/Knebel, or Jeffress. Check it out it is literally perfect.
  18. The problem is even if you are paying attention, a lot of people don't have the reaction time to get out of the way. Real Sports did a segment on this where they put people behind protective glass, told them a ball was coming and they still couldn't get out of the way. The only thing that stopped them from getting smashed in the face was that protective glass. A lot of people don't realize how quickly the ball gets on you. You're generally pretty far away from the batter's box and you think you have time to react and the ball doesn't really seem like it's coming that fast when it first leaves the bat. Then it starts to get closer and you realize how fast it's coming and how little time you have to react. Now, unlike that Real Sports segment where people know a ball is going to be coming at them at 90+ mph, you have people at an actual game that have no idea that a ball is going to be coming at them, they might be distracted by someone else getting out of their seat, they might be a child that can't see around an adult, there might be sun creating glare. There's just no reason not to have nets around the field at this point. I would likely stop going. I'm too old for nose bleed seats and I've already had to move down past the dugouts just to avoid the net. People always say you get used to it immediately but I never do. Granted I typically sit in the front row but it never works for me.
  19. I was at the game in Memphis and Shaw left with an injury. It must have been minor but the trainer and coaching staff surrounded him and then he walked off the field. Perhaps he was called back up
  20. I'm on vacation and was listening to the game while walking on the beach and I lost the internet signal and just before it went out they said the four umpires went to the mound after the first batter or pitch with Jeffress and were looking at the ball. What happened? Also, am I to assume they didn't find anything being as he stayed in the game.
  21. Sadly Jimmy doesn't look the same to me (on tv) and at the game I saw him at live in Phoenix. He is lucky he is in a business where the odds are after the shoulder injury his career was pretty much over and the Brewers still gave him almost 8M to attempt a comeback the last two years. They are also letting him travel back and forth to be with his wife instead of staying with the team in San Antonio. I don't think he has any real reason to be "angry". Perhaps disappointed but he hasn't pitched well enough where it was a clear cut decision.
  22. The game isn't on there because MLB sells the radio broadcasts and tv broadcasts. Download the mlb at bat ap and I think the radio version is something like $20 bucks for all the games for all the teams for the season. I live out of market so the mlb.tv is sweet for me and well worth the $120 but if you live in Wisconsin the tv is blacked out but the radio broadcasts are not.
  23. I just remembered my favorite thing I did on that same road trip. Ohio State Reformatory is in Mansfield Ohio which is almost directly on the path to Pittsburgh and it's where they filmed Shawshank Redemption and they left many of the sets from the movie up. So besides being a really old cool prison to tour you will recognize many places from one of the greatest movies ever made. We also drove the extra 90 minutes from Pittsburgh to see the Flight 93 Memorial site. It was somber but touching.
  24. As someone who has traveled the entire country going to all the amusement parks Kings Island in Cincinnati is a top notch thrill park although the days you chose would be really busy and you would almost be forced to buy the fast pass to make the park usable.
