  1. I have been to 29 stadiums (24 are still in operation missing the 2 in Florida, the 2 in Texas, the new Atlanta and Toronto) and I tend to rate things in tiers and in the top tier of the stadiums still in operation are in no particular order: Milwaukee Kansas City Pittsburgh San Diego Boston Dodgers San Francisco Bottom Tier: Cubs White Sox Reds Oakland New Yankee Stadium Many things go into these ratings but I highly value tailgating and bars and restaurants around the stadium don't mean that much to me.
  2. This sounds like Adam Carolla's replay Gimp he wants instituted in the NFL where he says someone in the gimp outfit from pulp fiction is locked in a box and then is dragged out to look at a play with no idea of what call was made or what the game situation was etc. )
  3. The problem is they already have raised the prices for the Cubs and for parking at the Cubs games to the point that many seats are empty. It really only incentives the Cubs fans to go because if you are a Brewer fan it makes much more sense to go to a more moderately priced game.
  4. I have really good tickets to 2 of the Marlins games so I hope not. I am in NW Florida so it's a little up-in-the-air as if to if roads will be clear enough or there will be gas but at this point it appears Miami is okay.
  5. You have to be 21 so that should limit it a bit. I don't think the Twins have been drawing as well since TF got built and they moved it to weekdays but that is a cool giveaway so it's hard to say. Basically I have no idea
  6. I would drive up Mount Evans. It's about an hour and a half to the peak from Coors if I recall and is really neat. It was like 80ish degrees at Coors Field when we left and in the low 30's at the top. It's the highest paved road in North America at over 14,000 feet.
  7. I remember an interview where Lucroy specifically called out Braun and a few other Brewers by name for telling him that he needed to take the money as soon as it was available. I'm assuming they were thinking about Hall and Turnbow etc. BTW do we feel bad for Lucroy for making 11 Million dollars the last 5 years? I would imagine that very few on this board will make that in their lifetime.
  8. Oh and my advice in DC is to walk the monuments at night. It's about a 3 mile loop but they are amazing lit up and so much more meaningful without the heavy crowds. The Vietnam Memorial Wall cannot really be seen at night but it is a must see. I'm too young to remember the war but it brought me to tears when I visited it.
  9. I would take the train to the DC stadium but I would drive into Philadelphia because you can do some tailgating etc and meeting fans. Although I will say that i have been to 29 stadiums and Philadelphia is the only place where people have given me any grief for being a Brewers fan. A couple of people were really harassing me in the bathroom and I didn't say anything to anybody but that was when Philly was doing well and the stadium was full every game. Check out the crab fries. I have done that exact trip on two different occasions and Philadelphia and DC are awesome cities. Baltimore is a craphole where people will always say go to the inner harbor but it's basically just a shopping area and they closed the ESPN zone which was pretty awesome so the last time I was there I found nothing to do. The areas on the train on either side of the downtown area are literally the worst places I have ever seen in America.
  10. Yes, there's a reason why we keep bringing back Dillard and Burgos and so forth. These guys aren't prospects. They are filler - and they know it. In the case of Dillard and Burgos, I think the Brewers see more long term things for them in the future. Dillard in the media realm, while I wouldn't be surprised if Burgos became a pitching coach at some point. Now, they make a couple hundred grand at Colorado Springs - work with the younger guys, become mentors - and they fill a AAA slot that we don't want to push a young guy into yet (or at all). Does Dillard really make a couple hundred grand in Colorado? I know that when you have been in the Majors you make more but does that still count when you haven't been there in 4 years and have been released and a free agent?
  11. I live next to where Prince (the rockstar not Fielder) used to live and when he was going through a divorce he got mad at his wife and tore down his mansion out of spite and I grabbed a bunch of bricks and gave them away to other Prince fans I knew but they mostly seemed confused I have a couple left but I haven't figured out how to display them. I also got his basketball hoop and some purple carpet from his basement which are cool souvenirs for me.
  12. I always refer to this game as the "Other Easter Miracle" which makes some people laugh and others a little upset. I was 12 and at my Uncle's house in a suburb of St. Paul, MN listening to the game out of River Falls, WI and I also jumped and down like a fool.
  13. Question. Does anyone feel any kind of national pride because the USA won? I get excited for the Olympics or World Cup but this doesn't feel like anything.
  14. Aren't the Brewers known as historically having the fewest arm problems with pitchers? I know it was true at some point.
  15. It's a week too long in WBC seasons.
  16. That was a dreadful ceremony and 3 years from now nobody will even remember what won this year.
  17. My thought in a season in which they are not likely to contend that if you are trying to be frugal unless you have to see the Cubs or perhaps a Summer Saturday you would be much better off buying on Stub Hub or if it's early or late in the season the upgrade deals can be quite awesome if you just buy the cheapest ticket to get in (because the upgrade is the same price no matter what ticket you got into the park with).
  18. They always have BP at Maryvale before road ST games.
  19. You will be amazed at the access they allow you on the minor league side. AMAZED.
  20. When you are in Florida check to see if the Blue Angels are doing a practice in Pensacola. It's free and you get to watch the practice from the runway. I've seen it several times and everytime I'm amazed. Plus the Museum is fantastic. http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/nnam/documents/2017%20Blue%20Angels%20Practice%20Schedule%20(last%20updated%2031%20January%202017).pdf In New Orleans make sure you get a Muffaletta from the Central Grocer.
  21. It's all for charity and just a fun way to start thinking about baseball again.
  22. I am tired of looking at the Cubs world series thread so I'm bumping this one
  23. I just went and watched that at bat and the camera did not follow the ball but there was a nice cheer that I assume was in recognition of a nice catch by your husband. There was a pitching change right after and I watched them come back to see if they would show it but they did not. It's possible they went into the 9th showing something but I did not check.
  24. I saw on Twitter that Dillard had resigned with the Brewers with no invite to big league camp.
  25. He grew up next to Ryan Braun.
