  1. Not sure why Brooks is starting the most important game of the year. Doubt he gets through 1 inning.
  2. 23 is young for AAA. He is -4.4 years younger than the average AAA age.
  3. Dubon is only 22 and is close to a .300 minor league hitter over his career...I wouldn't count him out yet. Pretty young for AAA.
  4. I agree with you on the BA and OBP. Cooper is just the guy that could of provided that. Career minor league average around .300 and .370 OBP. I would have rather have seen Aguilar or Thames traded for something instead of Cooper. More contact hitters are needed. Strikeouts have been ridiculous. Brewers may very well set the all time team strikeout record this year.
  5. Ok...Horse is dead now.
  6. I understand versatility in players but it's getting to the point where guys can't get comfortable at one position. I would rather have a player play one position well than multiple positions mediocre. I think counsell moves players around way too much.
  7. The point I am trying to make is he isn't going to make a difference. So bring up a younger guy who deserves a shot, not some has been former player who at one time was a good base stealer. People make the same argument about most of the guys the Brewers pick up. So called person posted great numbers in the past so he must me a great pickup. More often than not that is not the case. Check the facts, at AAA this year he had 3 steals and 2 caught stealing, played for Rochester and Colorado Springs. Berry is going to make $100,000 dollars in a month. Wren, Orf, Dejesus around $1,200 for the last week of AAA. I don't even think the AAA players get paid for making the playoffs.
  8. For some reason people think Berry has elite speed...he doesn't. He's not a Dyson, Hamilton or Gore type speedster. Watch his AAA games.
  9. Boo boo. This is about winning baseball games not making everyone feel included and make things fair. Exactly, it's about winning games. Berry isn't going to win any games. Is he going to be a difference maker? No.
  10. Every team in the league brings up players in September, whether it be a promotion or reward. Since I think Wren got screwed, I'll also go one further and say Jungmann got screwed too. They call up Guerra and not Jungmann? The guy just had one of the best all time best seasons in Colorado Springs history and gets no love. Both Memphis and Colorado Springs lost players to September call ups, fill the rosters with AA players, Mexican league players or Indy players.
  11. Yes, proven in the past. Its not the past anymore. Berry is 2 years older than when he was last in the majors..He didnt get any faster, in reality he got slower. Ask Wren what he thinks...I'm sure he would love a month of major league pay.
  12. Johnny Davis is faster than Berry,, bring him up.
  13. How about Wren and Berry race for the roster spot?
  14. Eric Hosmer is so much better than Thames, both offensively and defensively. And he's younger...Someone needs to watch more Royals games.
  15. I just think it alienates your players when you bring in an Indy player and promote him over guys in the Brewers Organization that deserve it more. In actuality, Wren has a better stealing ratio regardless of who is faster.
  16. I don't know how fast or how good of a runner Berry is. That ratio is not great. Your point about the track star is silly as you need someone with baseball instincts, stealing bases isn't only about speed. I could understand considering Wren or Dubon for this type of role, but the Brewers clearly thought Berry would be a better fit in this specific role. Maybe it is BS to some degree(I personally don't think so), many of us on this site understand the move though. Kyle Wren...26 steals...5 caught stealing.
  17. And at Rochester AAA earlier this year...3 steal attempts....2 caught stealing....1 stolen base.
  18. If they want someone to pinch run only, go find a track star. Berry in 5 attempts had 3 steals at colorado springs and was caught 2 times, not that great of a ratio for a so called speed burner or elite speedster. I personally think it's a BS move by the Brewers Organization. Anyone can pinch run and Suter has.
  19. Nice loyalty to the existing players like Dejesus, Wren and Orf, who grind it out all year, only to be bypassed by an indy player pickup. Not to impressed with this move.
  20. Must have a high ground ball rate, those are the guys he normally picks up. 4th team for Brooks, maybe the other 3 teams missed something...NOT. Watched him plenty of times in Kane County, Omaha and Des Moines and he's not impressive...never has been, but he's due for a breakout season. Brooks can only have so many bad seasons...Way to go Stearns.
  21. Probably just looking for a playoff arm since a number of guys could be called up.
  22. Welcome to the Springs Mr. Anderson. Brutal place.
  23. The Reds are going to be bad for a long time.
