  1. Melvin is a much much bigger problem than Roenicke and RRR is a big problem
  2. Staggering how inept they are....unbelievable And I just don't understand how an owner who cut ties with Yost so abruptly would allow this floundering manager to continue year after year
  3. This front office is done, stick a fork in 'em and send Roenicke back to being a bench coach somewhere. They had their shot in 2011 but the game has changed since then and they haven't adjusted.
  4. You can't win in MLB without a fantastic bullpen and great starting pitching. Peralta is solid. Jeffress has potential. Will Smith ain't bad. Just gotta fill the other 8 spots. Maybe Fiers can do it
  5. I coach a 12 year old kid on our youth Baseball team that has a stronger arm than Davis. And I've seen several 12 year olds in southern Wisconsin with stronger arms
  6. Clearly Lyles wanted to hit Segura in the face See, that is the thing, it doesn't matter. I don't know you or know your Baseball background, but there are unwritten rules that must be followed or MLB teams will just steamroll all over you and have free reign to keep pitching you inside and further inside with no fear of retribution. Believe me, every single team took notice of what happened last night. Hopefully Peralta will nail Gonzales or Tulo tonight early and send a message
  7. I will be shocked if this Brewers team is any good at all this year. I sincerely believe that the game of MLB Baseball has completely passed the Brewers front office by, in terms of the following: You need a lot of players who will take quality at-bats, take some pitches, move runners over, get some walks. The free-swingin' Brewers have very little of that. Aquiring Adam Lind was a big step in the right direction. You need a ton of great young pitching. The Brewers have Wily Peralta and that is it. Lohse & Garza are OK # 3/# 4 starters at this point and far from young. Fiers is really iffy You need a tremendous bullpen. We have almost zero of a tremendous bullpen You need a manager who will stand up for the players, who will light a fire under them when needed, who will lead a team of coaches to emphasize smart Baseball, fundamentally strong Baseball. Roenicke is somewhat like the anti-Boche. The Brewers do all the little things wrong. It'll take way too long for the Brewers to admit that Gennett is a liability vs LHP. Not many professional managers would bat Carlos Gomez 1st. Roenicke likes "power at the top of the lineup". OK Ryan Braun is done as a superstar.
  8. The very worst aspect of RRR is that not one single Rockies player got drilled after Segura got hit. In the unwritten rules of Baseball that is inexcusable and makes the Brewers look soft & weak. In a larger aspect it goes beyond that, not just do they look soft & weak but truly they are soft & weak. Those that have never coached or played at a high level of Baseball might not understand this but that was an epic mistake. I wasn't at the game and the TV cameras didn't show the dugout but it appeared that not one player even got fired up about Segura getting hit. I miss the days when Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks & Jason Kendall would be on the top steps screaming at the Rockies after something like that happened. You can bet that most MLB managers would make sure Tulowitzki was drilled in the back in his next time up, to send a message loud & clear. And if Tulo didn't like it Lucroy should smack him across the face. It sends a message. Not doing that sends another message. Roenicke won't stand up for his players. And the players won't stand up for each other. It appears that the Brewers have zero veteran leadership that can teach the younger players the right way to play.
  9. Technically, that would actually be pretty easy to do if you tried to do it. I could definitely do it!
  10. We need his offense in the sense that he's a player who will take a pitch or two and work a count and draw some walks. Adam Lind is a welcome addition in that sense. The free swinging over-reliance on HR's thing is a thing of the past. The game has passed the Brewers front office by, and if they now realize it they are too far behind to catch up. In regards to Braun: I think he'll be OK
  11. Its possible Lohse was tipping his pitches. I saw a few slight things that looked different in his mechanics from his fastball to off-speed stuff Braun's first at-bat was awesome. If he's healthy and has at-bats like that he's going to have an incredible year.
  12. I'm more concerned with Melvin talking about Batting Average. Hopefully he's just dumbing it down for the casual fan. What is Scafer's OBP, BABIP & OPS as a pinch hitter? Is he really that effective? I sincerely think Melvin actually looks at Batting Average as a viable stat to compare players with and evaluate players with. Somewhat bizarre
  13. I think Nelson will end up a very good relief pitcher... 8th inning guy like Wade Davis.... I will go further and predict success for him in that role on another team than the Brewers
  14. Was kinda hoping Melvin would retire after the 2015 season
  15. Playing 2B is tough on the body. Scooter would likely be better playing 145 games than 155 or 160. Hopefully at the very least he will sit vs the very best LHP's. And yes, he should never hit lead off. He doesn't walk enough to be a lead off hitter!
  16. It would depend on the way they went about it. Leave like a thief in the night like the Baltimore Colts did? They'd become my least favorite team
  17. There would be a certain degree of danger in him playing Pitcher. Not sure if he'd be able to protect himself if an MLB hitter smoked one rght back at him Its cool that he's doing it for charity, but it is one of those stunts that lessens the appeal of the overall MLB game, to me.... just another Hollywood star who has no business being on an MLB field. But anyways, like I said at least it is for charity
  18. via Expedia or Hotels.com or Priceline (whatever the latest website is for hotel discounts these days) you can find a nice hotel room near O'Hare for $75 and it is easy to take the train to & from Wrigley. Another option is, via Craigslist, finding an apartment for rent for a day. I've done that before and it gives you the full kitchen etc for less than a hotel room
  19. Gomez has made continual improvement throughout his professional career. His walk rate & OBP has continually improved. His production vs RHP has skyrocketed. His power has increased. All of this in an era of incredible pitching shows tremendous hard work & growth. Is there statistical evidence that Gomez' baserunning ability has stagnated or lessensed?
  20. This thread is really bizarre to me, honestly. Gomez was 10th in WAR in the entire MLB last year. Nit-picking the faults of one the greatest Baseball players on Earth today, when there are literally a thousand bigger problems with the Brewers franchise, is really something else.
  21. There is nothing about Weisenburger that screams out "prospect" but at any rate I'll be rooting for him. Just the fact that a 36th Round draft pick made it all the way to AAA is remarkable enough.
  22. wow.... I'm thinking this means that Lind is injured fairly significantly The Brewers are on pace to have the worst OPS at 1B All-Time in a decade if this kind of thing continues
  23. I fluctuate between 78-84 & 82-80, so I'll split the difference and go with 80-82 Playoffs: nope MVP: Lucroy Surprise: Roenicke & Melvin are invited back after the 2015 season Disappointment: Roenicke & Melvin are invited back after the 2015 season All Stars: Gomez & Lucroy Bold Prediction: Due to injuries, and needing to be platooned, Adam Lind only plays in 45 games
  24. Gomez is the least of the Brewers' problems, and I mean that literally
  25. People in Wisconsin go completely and fanatically nuts for a winner. Look at the Packers, Badgers Football, Badgers Basketball, etc.... if the Brewers were a truly great team that went to the World Series 3 or 4 times a decade the revenue would be incredible. Miller Park would be sold out for every game and the TV money would quadruple.
