  1. Villar giveth & taketh away. Plenty of reasons to hope he keeps developing. I think he is great enough offensively that even if he can't be an every day IF he can have value as an OF
  2. Arcia is just so smooth defensively. Man oh man it is fun watching him play
  3. Anderson really looks good. I know it is early but I'm impressed with how much improved Anderson & Peralta have been since the half way point or so of 2016
  4. Nice seeing Rickie Weeks still getting it done, playing for the Rays. Saw him drive in a run today vs NYY. I am convinced he would've been a borderline HOF candidate without all the injuries. Pretty biased though, I recognize.
  5. I think he has the ability to hit, he just really needs to learn to be selective. Meanwhile his defense is incredible, but it'd be good if he could at least hit .250
  6. Good question. Did Feliz show a little excitement after striking him out or something? Not whatsoever. Took a few steps toward first then circled back toward the mound. There is some history there, when Donaldson was with the A's and Feliz was with the Rangers. Not a big deal
  7. Knebel & Feliz looking good. Lots of Brewers hitters smoking line drives. Arcia looking like a Gold Glove no hit ballplayer, and Villar with yet another error. They are going to need Perez or Franklin to be late inning defensive replacements for Villar soon enough, the guy is a complete defensive liability.
  8. I like the ASG hat. Guess I'm weird
  9. Too early to say on any of this. In general I wouldn't be surprised if everything you wrote ends up true but it is just too early to say. The Under on 70 wins does seem like a relatively safe bet
  10. I would agree that Villar is a heckuva offensive talent. Looking at the small sample of 7 games worth of stats is not worth commenting on. The power/speed combo is extremely valuable and as others have pointed out he gets on base too. Even if he doesn't work out defensively at 2B he could profile as a LF of the future, or because of versatility be a guy that you can move to LF in late inning portions of games to get more D up the middle (this is of course assuming that Braun is gone by the end of the rebuild)
  11. I suppose. He reminds me of Yuni B honestly. It is a small sample but I have yet to see him make a flip to the Shortstop on a double play that wasn't too high. Rickey Weeks started out pretty shaky at 2B too. Maybe he'll develop. But right now today he has gotta be the worst defensive 2B in MLB. Maybe Daniel Murphy is worse but I'm not convinced of that by a long shot.
  12. Did I miss something? I flipped over to the Master's for a second, what'd he do? Threw a ball away for an error and extra base. Then took a high school route on a grounder up the middle. Other than that, not much
  13. Franklin vs Villar is coming. So far Villar is an absolutely horrible defensive 2B.
  14. Villar is just plain not a good defensive second baseman right now. Just terrible. It doesn't mean he can't develop at the position but right now he is Yuni B bad....
  15. Still gotta pull him now, I think. He's at 92 pitches and his spot is due up. I would've waited to see if Bandy got on before pulling him. If he didn't, and just just flew out, I would put up Davies and tried to get another inning out of Davies and saved on the pen. I respect that point of view, in a vacuum, but not this early in the season and not with a guy who could be such a big part of the future.
  16. If Braun stays healthy and keeps hitting like Ryan Braun, the Brewers will be getting plenty of offers for him at the deadline.
  17. Davies today reminding me a little of vintage Ben Sheets. Different kind of stuff of course but same sort of getting rocked early and then settling in.
  18. The Brewers would be foolish to trade Braun unless they get a huge haul back. He's still the best LF in Baseball
  19. When Arrieta is on he does that to a lot of teams. Very smart pitcher who exposes a hitter's weakness and has a lot of movement on his pitches. Will be interested to see where he ends up in 2018. Likely the Yankees or Dodgers I'm thinking.
  20. Yeah that was pretty awful by Perez. Not sure if he lacked focus there or just dropped it. Fundamentally he was in a sound position there though, and that is a difference with Villar, whose defensive fundamentals are all over the place. The good news about Villar is that perhaps his defensive shortcomings are mostly fundamental in nature, i.e. Something he can work through.
  21. Yes sir, will do (I'm a little behind, watching on DVR. Schwarber just homered to make it 5-0 here)
  22. I really think Villar is a corner outfielder. They are attempting to put a square peg in a round hole.
  23. The Crew put up 6 runs again. The offense on this team is impressive, and presumably will be improved by some combination of Brinson/Diaz/Dubon/Phillips/Ray etc at some point. It all comes down to developing/finding pitching Great to see Franklin's HR tonight *edited - meant to say developing/finding pitching
  24. Holy lopsided matchup on paper Batman! (Fortunately games are won on the field, not on paper)
