  1. Respectfully, I disagree. The proven MLB performance of Skenes is the trump card. There is zero developmental risk. Presuming health, he IS the best pitcher in baseball. What are the odds that even ONE of Made and Pena match that level of superstardom? In order to justify trading a generational talent, your team simply must get better, somehow.
  2. I did a little rudimentary research this morning, but the closest possibilities I could find were in 1979, when they had close to a .600 winning percentage late in the season, but that year the Orioles won 102. Then, similarly in 2011, the Phillies still had a better record on their way to also winning 102. I didn't do any deep dive or anything, so there could be other seasons. edit to add: I'm guessing this year's team will win 117.
  3. I don't follow instant-news as much as others, but I would imagine that since the Brewers run a tight budget, they probably simply don't have a lot of media-relations people in the front office to feed info to reporters.
  4. Hmmm... I hadn't considered an A.J. Preller type of trade. Suarez AND Naylor. In THAT scenario, I just might be tempted to send a big package back that could include something like Pratt(or)Pena+Quero+Henderson+Yoho?
  5. A team would have to give up multiple MLB-proven players to land Skenes. Contreras, Durbin, Frelick, Priester, Collins, Perkins, and then Henderson/Gasser? In this hypothetical, it's possible that the Brewers could put together a package where the Pirates look at it like they could actually improve their team.
  6. At the risk of stretching the metaphor, If a team was a pudding, and that team got to the playoffs "every year," I would keep coming back for seconds, yes.
  7. This is a must-watch for anyone curious about what national baseball people think of the Brewers and their front office... The video starts when they start talking about the Brewers.
  8. This is a must-watch for anyone that thinks the Brewers' Front Office is suspect. I tried to start it at the point when the two national baseball guys begin talking about the Brewers...
  9. And he keeps throwing strikes!! Even after giving up an Ohtani-dong. He's been incredibly impressive to date.
  10. Good point. My guess is they'd move Turang over and have Durbin play 2nd, and Suarez at 3rd. Probably Monasterio, in reality, yes. But if reports are to be believed, Pratt would have the best glove available.
  11. Maybe Counsell was eager for a fresh challenge, and saw an opportunity to do his ol' college coach a solid by moving on (and getting paid)? Doesn't mean I won't still boo him😛
  12. I've been telling every casual sports fan I know that THIS team is fun to watch that way. Perhaps the first Brewers team I've ever stumped for that way --- even when they are pitching!
  13. More than anything, I wanted to take advantage of the recent interest in the Brewers to take the pulse of how the hard-core fanbase felt about said unheralded players. For myself, I think the Brewers still need a big bat to truly be competitive throughout the playoff journey. I also think that there are few options that would represent a "big bat." Therefore, I wonder if it isn't in the best interests of the organization to use the next two trade windows to set themselves up for 2026-2028. But I also would be excited if they traded for Suarez. I think a move like that would really rally the fanbase and the clubhouse to give the squad the energy needed for a NL Central title.
  14. I agree with your metaphor completely. I wouldn't trade a dollar bill for 4 quarters of pitching, no. But a dollar-pitcher for a dollar-hitter?
  15. Since we're talking hypothetical trade-value, how many of those pitchers equal one Miz? I guess I'm asking because I don't think trading him now would be a terrible idea, presuming the kind of return you could get. Is one Misiorowski worth Gasser, Crow, Patrick, Myers, AND Henderson?
  16. The three of them, together, are worth more than the sum of their parts because of the instant depth they would provide to every single team in baseball.
  17. Are the Brewers as good as their MLB-leading record and recent run of dominance?
  18. Black probably should have pinch-run for Vaughn in the 6th... He probably could also have dropped the last out of the game, like Vaughn did. Edit to add: I'm thrilled with Vaughn on the team. His plate discipline has been something to behold, and really adds a dimension to the lineup that the lineup was lacking.
  19. I agree with everything you wrote --- but you don't think the A's would consider a Wilson for Misiorowski trade?
  20. Rice is better than Bauers... but not much better. It's really hard to get a read on the value of the Brewers pitchers right now, because simply wearing the Brewers uniform makes them two standard deviations better than if they were wearing any other uniform. What IS Chad Patrick's value?? Eighteen good big-league starts is a healthy-enough total to start extrapolating, at least a little bit.
  21. Or Misiorowski, Henderson, Myers, Patrick, Gasser, Ashby, Hall, Crow, Hardin, et. al... I agree with you, but I don't think it's out of the question, nor should it be summarily dismissed in the trade forum. Why wouldn't the Angels consider trading Neto, or the A's consider trading Wilson for The Miz, or a collection of prospects including Made or Pratt? Why wouldn't the Brewers consider acquiring those [nearly] proven MLB infielders with team control? If the Brewers are worried about their gloves at SS, just put them at third. In this league, their bats are good enough for 3rd base. Heck, Bregman has made a lot of money being a "lighter" hitter at 3rd rather than a good hitting, below-average defensive shortstop.
