  1. These ESPN guys are brutal. They're acting like Fiers just walked 3 batters and is down 4-0.
  2. I work downtown and live off Bluemound/Hwy 100. I have not taken the freeway home in over a year. I usually take some combination of State and Wisconsin. State seems to be quicker out of downtown than Wisconsin so I will take that and then cut across anywhere from 35th to 68th. I'm not sure if it would save any time going to Waukesha but I'd try taking Wisconsin to Hwy 100 and then either taking Bluemound into Waukesha or Bluemound to Moreland and jumping on the freeway there. Even if it takes a little longer, I'd rather be driving continuously than crawling along the freeway. Bluemound/Highway 100 isn't really continuous driving either, as that intersection can take several minutes to drive through. I always found either infuriating experiences that lead me to stay at work until 6:30 or so.
  3. If we sign someone, we're overpaying for "veterans" and throwing away the future to patch gaping holes that the team has instead of rebuilding with younger prospects. But if we don't sign anyone, we're "all set" and ignoring the major problems on the team, wasting away talents like Lucroy when other teams are making good moves to improve their teams. It's sort of a lose-lose where inevitability, if the Brewers don't win the WS, the strategy management chose will be blamed.
  4. Trading Fielder to start a rebuilding project... Jesus, if you can't attempt to win with your best hitter, when would you ever even attempt to win? So we get a bunch of prospects for Fielder... Then what? We trade them in 5 years for more prospects?
  5. And, if the Brewers scouting dept/GM were more talented, Nelson Cruz Two guys with PED scandals would have been a fun time...
  6. Never did I think I'd see the day...
  7. Ned Yost is a bad manager.
  8. American League A's over Royals in WC Tigers over O's in ALDS Angels over A's in ALDS Angels over Tigers in ALCS National League Giants over Pirates in WC Dodgers over Cards in NLDS Nats over Giants in NLDS Dodgers over Nat's in NLCS World Series Angels over Dodgers in 6 (Without help of angels, of course. This has to be on their own)
  9. Some Cardinals fans still on Lucroy for the All Star video he didn't even make.
  10. Pricing out the average Joe is a mistake, and turns fans away from the live experience. If they want to revitalize, they should include more of the average fan, not just cater to the grossly rich... I feel the same way about the Brewers. It is getting just too costly to go to many live games anymore. All the expenses that are involved with one single game that I can comfortably watch on TV are just not worth it to me any longer. Not that I really care about the Bucks, I haven't followed the NBA since Marques Johnson and Sidney Moncrief. I couldn't name a single current Bucks player, and don't even know when they are in season. If I got free tickets, I'd give them away... Losing turns fans away from the live experience. Having a crappy franchise turns fans away. There's still plenty of opportunity for average Joe Bucks fan to get tickets for cheap - stub hub has games for like $8 in the upper deck. The NBA takes a massive cut from sales, so face value ticket prices are always going to be high for NBA games. The NBA is forcing the Bucks to build a new arena by 2017 precisely because they have no club seats and make almost nothing on each game.
  11. I agree that putting an arena in a certain area won't really "revitalize" anything. The United Center has 2 major tenants that repeatedly fill the stadium, and the area remains one of the worst in pro sports. The BC couldn't keep Legends open across the street. With that being said, since the owners, local politicians will have to mitigate the need for a high sales tax, they'll have to create a TIF district that will raise the most amount of tax revenue. Putting it by Miller Park, while probably more convenient for 90% of fans that attend Bucks games, doesn't really benefit the owners in regards to creating a TIF district or generating profit from tenants connected to the building. Since the city owns two worthless plots of land that don't do anything for the city (Milwaukee arena, Theater), the new arena might be a better sell with repackaging the old BC land as retail/residential and using the torn down theater/arena land for the new arena. As for the parking - I think the city owns the land for most of the public structures. A new arena would certainly have a connected structure, something which was idiotically left out of the existing Bradley Center.
  12. Shouldn't we be cheering *against* them?
  13. Well, that assumption is completely incorrect. I've been to 30ish bucks games over the last 5 years, and never has there been more minorities than white people at a Bucks game. Compared to a Brewers game, yes, a Bucks game is more diverse... but not even close to what you've described. Yeah, even with the small sample size, there's not a lot of minorities. But I still don't get what it has to do with anything. As far as capacity - it will probably hold less than the Bradley Center. Arenas in the past were built for the highest capacity possible (which is why the 2001 Bucks crowds were ROCKING). The trend now is to build club seats, lots of boxes, special zones, etc because more money is made on the premium experience seats.
  14. You cheat on your taxes... I mean, they don't audit everyone!
  15. Why do they have to decide now if they're World Series contenders. Wait mid season and if the Brewers stink, flip him for prospects. Lackey had a 3.6 ERA before he was traded, and Yo finished with a 3.5 ERA - I'm sure someone would want him.
  16. Unfathomable of how many runners in scoring position have been stranded the past two months. Just looked up how bad we've been since sweeping the Dodgers - 3.0Rpg on 8.0Hpg with 7.3 LOBpg. Also 1.0 GDPpg. I'm not sure what league averages are during that span, but that seems terrible.
  17. Hey Gomez does something productive with a runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs!
  18. I'm not sure any coach signals run vs stop when rounding first, let alone the manager way in the dugout. Rickie just being Rickie.
  19. Has there even been bad blood between the players since 2011? I don't recall Matheny bringing in a reliever for the sole purpose of hitting someone like shingles DUI guy did.
  20. Basically no, but the son of Jane Pettit, a prominent architect came out and supported tearing down the BC, Milwaukee Arena, and the boondoggle theater. He took a couple shots at Gimbell as well. Other than that, there hasn't been a formal plan or site picked or anything, but it looks like it'll be downtown west of the river.
  21. He was 2nd in MVP voting in 2012. Why would Braun take PEDs after the whole 2011 debacle, but not after his suspension?
  22. We had talent coming up 10 years ago, no doubt, but we've always had talent come and go through the system. We were able to be competitive once we had an owner that splashed in free agency. We wouldn't have made the NLCS without guys like Greinke, KRod, and Marcum and resigning Hart, and we don't make the playoffs in 2008 without CC, Cameron, Kendall, and resigning Sheets. In 2005 the Brewers payroll was 40,000,000 vs the Yankees 205,000,000. You just can't be competitive like this, and before knowing the new owners would resign guys like Hart and make a deal for CC at the All Star break, there still wasn't a whole lot of optimism all around that some young prospects would turn the team into a WS contender. The teams in the late 90s and early 2000's had talent, but these guys would be flipped for prospects that would be flipped in a couple years for more prospects, etc. We waited 20 years for an owner that would put together a competitive team and compete in free agency, and now we're complaining he's only patching holes. I'm not saying its been disappointing that we only have 2 postseason appearances to show from Braun, Fielder, Hall, Hardy, Hart, Weeks, Gallardo, Lucroy all coming up through the system, but it's just ridiculous to write off the past ten years as an extension of the previous 10 years minus a few anomalies. We're actually in a position to be upset about a collapse as opposed to being in a position where we're arguing about who to flip for Richie Sexson.
