  1. I can blame Roenicke. You give away an out by having Figaro hit and then leave him in to give up the game-winning HR? Hindsightism at its best.
  2. Weeks is making almost as much money in this year alone than Yuni did in his entire career. At least with Yuni you knew what you were going to get.
  3. The offense is going to struggle on a number of nights so long as the majority of the players swing way to often at pitches out of the strike zone and don't draw enough walks. Right now the Brewers sit 5th in batting average among all teams, but only 15th in OBP because they don't draw walks at a good enough rate. Wouldn't their BA drop if their approach was to draw more walks though? I would imagine 'trying to draw more walks' would cause an increase in strikeouts and decrease the amount of hits since batters deep in a count tend to take more of a defensive approach, whereas hitting a ball early in a count would have a better opportunity to be driven or put in play. Don't know if that's true, but I think it's probably more complicated that telling them "okay, be more patient"
  4. I think they're cool... people like top 10 lists and stuff like that and its always fun to read your team's one sentence blurb. But I never understood why people got so worked up over them. Does it really matter what a couple of writers at ESPN think about your team? If they rate the Brewers 10th instead of 3rd what does it really matter?
  5. I timed him at 13.33 on yesterdays triple, and counted 2 other triples at 11.32 and 11.26. He had an inside the park homerun where he reached home at 14.16 seconds (wow!). But that's still a pace of 3.54 per bag. At the most generous estimate, he wasted 2.5 seconds, which would've been plenty of time to throw him out and start plenty of RRR is too aggressive rants here. While not sprinting out of the box is stupid, I just don't see how he ends up with an inside the park homerun had he came out sprinting. It coud've hurt the Brewers but it didn't. Leaving the bag from an argument is a different story, however. You can't just divide by 4. It takes longer to get to 1st than between the other bases. That's a good point, but on Gomez's inside the park HR it still took him 3.3 seconds to go from 3rd to home with no hesitation. That's really fast, but it still doesn't account for the time he wasted watching his hit, which took an extra 2 seconds, 2.5 if you're generous. Maybe the need for a relay eliminates that gap, but I still don't think he would've scored.

  7. "With his speed, he could have had an inside-the-park homer if he had sprinted out of the box; instead, his potential run was stranded at third base." Again, do people really think Gomez can round each base in 2.5 seconds?
  8. http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130904&content_id=59601968&vkey=news_pit&c_id=pit Last year vs the Pirates. Was just as stupid.
  9. I've read people complaining that Gomez would've had an inside the park home run had he ran hard out of the box. How long do you think it takes players to reach each base? I timed Gomez rounding 1st at 6.6 sec. Typically it takes a bit over 4 when rounding 1st. Not excusing dogging it out of the box, but the couple seconds extra didn't really even make a difference in this case.
  10. Is baseball the only sport where celebrating is essentially banned? Guys in soccer coordinate dance routines, in hockey they fall on the ice and grope each other after a goal, in football they jump into the crowd, and in basketball they hold up the amount of points they just scored after a long shot on both hands. Through all this the opponents don't bat an eye and the fans encourage it. I seriously don't get what makes it so offensive to trot or watch your ball when it's hit far... Who cares?
  11. I had WTMJ synced to the TV and caught that too. Thought it was weird he said "base hit" when it appeared to be a double. Extra weird when it went out.
  12. agreed, it was a stupid move, not a move that cost us the game though. Yeah, in the scheme of things, this was rather irrelevant. Stupid, yes. Annoying, yes. Cost us the game? Uhhh.... Doubling down and quoting yourself that it cost us the game? Weird.
  13. Contact one of the owners or a mutual contact and schedule a meeting. I'd imagine that you would have to find someone interested in selling some ownership and that you would have to have more than $10 mil avilable for them to be interested in meeting with you. I might do that or invest heavily in the businesses on the Brewers leased property the as soon as I feel this economy "starts" to boom or the Brewers announce a major development plan. We are a few years away. Either way I'll help the Brewers franchise directly this way and in a bigger way than buy full season tickets. However, by helping businesses around miller park I can help a person and their family greatly and as much as I want to be a minority owner in the Brewers it's more profitable and I can help more people this way. I just received 20 million in my uncles will, he has no children and he was rich and me and him were very close more than anybody except his brothers, and he knew I was good with money and knew I knew how to invest, so he gave me this in his will. My father his brother got 40 million, so I could partner with him and do something really spectacular around Miller Park. I'll get in touch with Rick I'm sure he'll listen to me or give me a meeting to hear what I'm willing to offer when he hears about what I'm prepared to spend. I also make $650,000 a year owning my business and that in a down economy. Sale business. I love Milwaukee and think there will be great investment opportunities around The Bucs arena and Miller Park. I'd rather invest in Miller Park first due to all the fans that show up and it's my favorite team. We will see how things go. What are you even talking about?
  14. To be fair, Block said the same thing. So classless, Lucroy. So classless.
  15. It worked for Lynn last night Because he fooled them all night by focusing on the outside part of the plate and set those pitches up. They had no clue what was coming and that's what smart pitching will do. If only Estrada read your posts here. Too bad. He's missing out on a lot of coaching.
