Shelby should be a nice addition to the pen. Zastryzny re-starting his rehab assignment. Gasser headed to Nashville. Will be good to work some of them in and get the bullpen regulars a little rest.

I think the Mariners keeping Jarred Kelenic down when they had a hole and he was raking and considered a top prospect in the game got it into the last CBA. Ironic that Kelenic has turned out to be a bust, or a AAAA player depending on your preference.

Uncharacteristic inning for Mears. But a characteristic bad inning is giving up a bomb, so I'll take it.

The uncompetitive pitches have always been the frustrating part. Plenty of guys give up a bunch of fouls followed by hard contact because they just don't have an out pitch. Freddy goes from 0-2 to 3-2 and none of the three balls are within six inches of the zone.

Was fishing for those month-by-month split stats vs. RHP for Durbin, and nice to see them here. My issue with the platoon is just that: Durbin isn't bad against RHP, his numbers vs. RHP improved throughout the season and have been strong since June, he actually has sizable reverse splits throughout his minor league career, and he's better defensively. Trying to develop Seigler is fine, but in August it seems like a luxury afforded to teams 10 games up or 10 games back .

If I understand: Priester pitched exactly 50.0 IP in 2023 Baseball Reference claims Priester's rookie limits were exceeded during 2024, so perhaps it needs to exceed 50 IP Priester pitched 49.2 IP in 2024 Priester was rostered for at least 46 days in 2024 (excluding September), versus the 45 day limit. Could have been an extra day or three if he wasn't called up/sent down on the first or last days he pitched. So this must be what removed rookie status. Possibly by a very narrow margin as well, though.

Also had large reverse splits throughout the minors. Don't see the need to platoon at this point.
