  1. The Rockies have won their World Series! Seriously, insane game though. Pittsburgh scored 9 in the top of the 1st. They were up 15-6 in the middle of the 5th, 16-10 mid-8, and 16-12 going to the 9th.
  2. Don't worry about it, he's headed for a DFA tomorrow. Justin Yeager just hit AAA, but that's one I wouldn't mind seeing. Unless anyone interesting was DFA'd in the last day or two.
  3. He pitched in AAA tonight, and blew up with 6 ER in 1.1 IP. Just saw we DFA'd Pegeuro and Hudson. So Henderson, Patrick, or Rodriguez?
  4. Perkins and Woodruff are great examples of why we should pay less attention to rehab assignments.
  5. Actually having draft picks would make that easy enough. When's their next first rounder, like 2032?
  6. No prospects, "most of" the remaining contract (approx $7.5M). Attanasio said he was willing to pay some dead money out, Arnold took him up on it.
  7. Couldn't we just give them cash? Do they hate Montgomery so much they just had to be rid of him now and couldn't tolerate his presence on the 60 day IL?
  8. Saw an article a couple weeks ago that looked at moves that made the most sense each team should make. Ours was to acquire Shelby Miller. Interesting. Montgomery must be some kind of salary move.
  9. Possibly baseball's deepest farm and our deadline was spent acquiring a backup catcher and a pinch runner...
  10. Most interesting thing will be how they handle $100M owed. Either solid prospects going to Minnesota to include a lot of cash or a "lackluster" return to be rid of the salary.
  11. Better than the trades in the past that have felt like trades just to make a trade. Like the Norris and Chafin deals that looked pointless from day one and only produced Chafin memes to show for them.
  12. Having like the worst farm system in baseball on top of it. Had a couple of generational talents and are never truly relevant. Horribly run franchise.
  13. Kwan is a LHB. Better than Frelick or Collins against RHP, but much worse than them against LHP. But I struggle with that as well. Would we be so bold as to move Collins to 2B and Turang to SS mid-season? That's a huge boost to the lineup, but a gamble defensively.
  14. True, we aren't ever (nor should) empty the farm and go "all in". We can (and should) be willing to give up some of our very loaded system in our current situation.
  15. Just making sure he's the September call-up and we don't have to find a roster spot sooner.
  16. Second in ML run differential +102, Cubs +106. After all the Blue Jays noise last week, they're on a 4 game bender. Baseball is hard. This run is very incredible.
  17. They keep saying Ashby and Hall are starters pitching out of the pen. But I think Ashby is a bullpen arm only. And Hall is a big maybe.
  18. My take of not caring for it is based on: 1) We don't have the luxury of handing out development ABs while in first place at the end of July. 2) It's not taking ABs away from Capra or Dunn where you just let it ride with the young guy (like was done for Durbin). Durbin has been excellent. 3) Would want to see more of a sample size facing ML RHP from Durbin to sit him, given his MiLB numbers actually show sizable reverse splits.
  19. Another case where optioning Myers makes no sense to me. He's far more likely to finish the game, or he could have gone a couple in middle relief.
