Phew. Can't ask any more out of the back of the pen. Would be nice to score some runs. -
I don't mind going with the bigger bench. There are five pitchers in AAA on the 40-man, all pitching well, and the shuttle hasn't been running much lately.
-
Would you have to run around the bases twice, or win the sausage race for the second run to count?
-
.757 OPS from SS, .863 from 2B. Offenses tend to be good with that kind of production from those spots.
-
They technically don't need a starter until Saturday. I could see Chase going on normal rest Tuesday, then Jimmy taking Chacin's spot on Wednesday. Chacin is either given a few extra days and starts Saturday or we get someone else in. Maybe give one more shot to AAAAron Wilkerson, who has nothing left to prove in the minors.
-
"We've got to figure out a way to get him pitching" was Counsell's response twice when asked directly if Chacin would remain in the rotation. That's as close to a "no" as you're going to get immediately following a game.
-
I really hope you are correct. For sure. When's the last time anyone ever sent down a guy with an .882 OPS?
-
They couldn't though. You'd need to hang Houser for a long long run without taxing the whole pen. Agree that it probably wasn't the right way to go, but I wouldn't have been opposed to it. Let Houser ride; if he isn't good the game was lost anyway. We can go get a fresh Burch Smith, Taylor Williams, and/or Donnie Hart tomorrow.
-
That guy's not going anywhere.
-
Or, you know, Jimmy Nelson. There has to be something not quite right with Jimmy. I can't see how 60% of this rotation keeps a former ace out of your rotation. Struggling to throw enough strikes. But he hasn't done anything close to as bad as walking three guys in, including the pitcher in the same inning.

Keep a pitch supposed to be in the dirt right down the middle on 0-2...
-
His, uh, forearm looks tight. The phantom IL is happy to receive him.
-
Methinks Fastball Freddy should get stretching.

Was watching Jeopardy James and just tuned in. Looks like I missed a bunch of nonsense.

Is this some crazy CC hunch that Aguilar will suddenly re-discover how to hit against a right-hander he's 0-7 with 3 K's against?
-
Brewers traded Jason Rogers, who would see 33 more MLB PAs and is now in the Atlantic League, for Supak and Broxton. Broxton was traded for Bobby Wahl, Adam Hill (starting in Appleton), and Felix Valerio (Dominican lottery ball). Nice value chain by Stearns there.
-
CC looked smart with 1-Gamel, 3-Cain tonight.
-
Aguilar's left quad just tightened a little more.
-
Ooh, Badger Mutual Insurance Run.
-
It's time for the Burnes - Williams swap. Burnes is a regular Wang out there. Actually noticed that Wang just got the call for the A's and has a couple of scoreless outings.
-
Uh oh. Burnes in a low leverage situation. Better get Hader up.
