  1. You can never have enough starting pitching depth. People were thinking Houser would be traded when we signed Miley last year, and we ended up needing 22 starts from Rea and 11 from Julio Tehran just to hold things together.
  2. Not enough golden batting gloves to warrant respect from the voters.
  3. Was just going to note this annoying trend. '08 Phillies, '11 Cardinals, '19 Nationals, '20 Dodgers, '21 Braves: all World Series Champions 2018, where the Dodgers got us in game 7 of the NLCS in Milwaukee was the only time the team eliminating the Brewers didn't win it all.
  4. I mean, he could have gotten some MLB September at-bats to see if he was worthy of the postseason roster, but Brian Anderson was on the roster while being the assistant bat boy for two months.
  5. CC is going on 1-9 in his last 10 postseason games managed with five series losses in a row, no?
  6. That's what we said last year, sadly. The good news is, no new manager would be dumb enough to keep our hitting coaches.
  7. Running it back with the same lineup. Was hoping Turang would be out.
  8. The Woody loss really stings now. He's always been our postseason ace. You'd feel like tomorrow was surely in the bag and our worst case would an all hands on deck chance with Miley starting Thursday. Now it's feeling like five months to spring training.
  9. Seems like absolutely everything is against us.
  10. I get he's not really a diehard Marlins fan so much as a sports enthusiast, but it's still odd when Marlins Man is behind home plate while the Marlins are playing a playoff game right now.
  11. And that may be the last time we see Corbin Burnes pitch for the Brewers.
  12. Ugh. Rough to chase two outside and the third right at the bottom of the zone when the guy couldn't throw strikes to Turang.
  13. Obligated to post after the Mike Fetters mention/sighting
  14. Crazy that there is hard evidence that an MLB player at the time was aware of and encouraging the plan against Bauer. Not that he's going to get back to the big leagues, but Jacob Nix would have to get an MLB ban if any team were to show interest.
  15. Don't mind the roster. Wondering if they saw something health-wise to think Mitchell wasn't ready to go, given Wiemer didn't get it going in his brief time in AAA. Also a little strange to have Winker and Miller not get MLB ABs in September. I suppose the thought was to give Tellez every chance to make the roster, and that didn't happen. But then what was Brian Anderson doing on the bench for so long?
  16. From https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility: A player who doesn't meet said criteria for postseason eligibility can still be added to a team's roster in the postseason via petition to the Commissioner's Office if the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing someone who is on the injured list and has served the minimum amount of time required for activation. I read it as 1) He was in the organization on Aug 31, 2) the corresponding move to add him to the 40 was moving Mejia to the IL, 3) cleared with the Commissioner's Office, which is probably just there as a safeguard in case something is totally sketchy.
  17. Thought Bauer's suspension/banishment was excessive, but like most, didn't feel much sympathy given some of his prior behavior. But, wow...he really was screwed.
  18. Why this was unexpected for me to hear I have no idea. It always happens. Will need all of good Freddy, dependable Wade, and increased roles from Houser and Wilson to compensate. Rea probably making the roster in an "innings eater if losing" role.
  19. What's tomorrow's pitching plan? Houser for 4, then? Junk coming up?
  20. The Chicago Cubs have been eliminated from postseason contention. 😃
  21. At least this is giving our team relay reps.
  22. Time to tee off in the mighty Cubs bullpen.
  23. Hard to believe 2021 Lauer was very good and 2022 Lauer was more than serviceable. Dude looks destined for indy ball sooner rather than later.
  24. 78-81 with that roster isn't half bad. Also, there was either something else going on or it's really lame to fire him with three games to go.
