  1. Yep, transactions log on their site: 08/11/21 Milwaukee Brewers optioned LHP Aaron Ashby to Nashville Sounds.
  2. Agree with the two premises: -Avoid contract "cliffs". The 2024-5 one is steep. That can be done through extensions or by trades. -Prioritize pitching over hitting. Average pitchers (sometimes below average) seem to command sizable paydays on the open market. We've traded for our hitting this year (Adames, Tellez, Escobar) without paying much at all, thanks to pitching depth in the organization.
  3. Can we send Norris and Curtiss to Strickland's house for 10 days? It seems like it only helped Strickland and Cousins.
  4. Really pushing the definition of "productive out", but we'll take it!
  5. Does Curtiss have options, once the rest of the staff gets cleared to return?
  6. I guess Strickland indeed didn't miss a beat during the Strickland-Cousins COVID Retreat deep in the 200 Acre Wood
  7. Wonder when the last time someone was robbed of his first MLB at-bat mid-count because of a weather delay
  8. They just had to wait for our pitcher to step into the box to call it...if the delay is so long he's pulled that's such crap.
  9. Nothing like kicking the fans out while players rush through the inning.
  10. Significantly better first inning for Ashby. For starters, he got through the first inning.
  11. I didn't notice we were going against Mills. Now I have to hold my breath until there's a hit.
  12. The last Ashby start vs. the Cubs went pretty well. I mean, not for Ashby, but it was a good game for the Brewers.
  13. 12 pitch inning there helps. Cubs really want to see what Steele has. They want him as a starter. Will certainly take the free out... Box, Williams one game Strickland, Cousins another? Is Ashby totally stretched out right now? Haven't even been paying attention. Just curious how much we should expect out of him. He went six in his last AAA start. He should be able to go as long as he's effective. Hopefully more than 2/3 of an inning.
  14. Getting a quick inning or two so Freddy can make it through six would be huge.
  15. Save four innings of pen time. I'll take it.
  16. Wiemer is quite the athletic specimen. 6'5", yet extremely quick and plays a good center. An interesting one to watch.
  17. Fry continues to look intriguing. .355 OBP with some power, has played every position except shortstop and center field.
  18. File with a great "rehab" start for Nashville: 5.2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 8 K
  19. On the other hand, it's too bad Urias can't get into the lineup. Escobar has 275 career innings in the outfield, which is 275 more than he had at first base before last week. Not an option?
  20. And the argument of using signing bonuses wisely to get you through the minors goes away when you get the Cubs signing draft picks with slot values of $263,700 for $1,000 because he's a college senior and has no other options.
  21. Also credit to Stearns. One of his expected offensive carries was lackluster when he's not on the IL, the other a strikeout machine when he's not in AAA, and his top offseason signing is OPSing 200 points below expected. Went out and got Adames, Tellez, and Escobar in exchange for relievers that were backfilled from AAA and a couple of gift cards to the team store.
