  1. Or you're just wrong. Oh yes, I'm sorry, we're totally going to get Lucas Giolito or Yoan Moncada AND THEN SOME for Lucroy. Yeah, crazy return for the most valuable player on the trade market. What's next, Addison Russell for Jeff Samardzija??!
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/cafardos-latest-brewers-teheran-kemp-hudson.html Now this I do not buy one bit. Executives from Detroit and Seattle have said Stearns' was nothing but reasonable when it came to negotiations, and publicly praised DS after the trades of both Lind and K-Rod. It's probably someone trying to gain leverage in any possible way to swing a deal in their favor. Also they're probably upset they didn't take advantage of our previous regime. Usually I take whatever "unknown executives" say with a grain of salt, but this irked me. Nothing in his history shows that he's unrealistic with his expectations or player values. Just because DS has a firm asking price doesn't mean he is being unrealistic. Could be leaks meant to pressure Stearns to dropping his asking price. Doubt he does. Even MLBTR recognized the other day that a fair return would be as much as two of Boston's top prospects (Moncada, Devers, etc.)
  3. I'd settle for Julio Urias from the Dodgers
  4. Come on sports media, really? Zack Wheeler would give us just two years of team control over Jonathan Lucroy (Wheeler a FA before 2020, Lucroy a FA before 2018). Even if Wheeler were a solid #1/2 (he's not) and wasn't returning from a major injury (he is), what would be the point? Stearns is not that dumb.
  5. Seems to be a number of difficult signs so far. Presumably they wouldn't have drafted them if they didn't think signing was likely though, right?
  6. HS C Payton Henry. Had already been linked to the Brewers in some of the pre-draft rumors on this forum.
  7. I saw posts regarding college OPS, but didn't see average, which I think may have more correlation?.... Does a .320 ACC college batting average (ignore babip for now) correlate to a .285 batting average guess for the pros? I don't follow this so I don't know, but it would seem that .285 would be generous of what to expect. I don't think you can correlate college stats to pro stats, it's just a different game and that's not what teams draft or evaluate players on. All this nonsense about Ray only having an upper-.900s OPS is almost entirely based on the fact that he "only" had a .315 AVG rather than a .380 AVG like other good college hitters. That's what "lowered" his OPS, because his plate discipline and ISO were top-tier. Now, one could argue that "only" hitting .315 in college raises concerns about his hit tool, but every scouting report I've seen says his hit tool is fine and will be average or better in pro ball (so a .285 AVG projection seems reasonable).
  8. The McDowell comp was given by Harold Reynolds, who I guarantee you knows nothing about Ray and made that comp solely because he thinks Ray and McDowell sort of look alike.
  9. Don't have the totals in front of me, but through his college career he had an 89% success rate (which is not 100% but is still elite) On top of his across-the-board physical tools, everything I've read suggests Ray has an 80-grade makeup/work ethic.
  10. Here's a video of him in the high school home run derby: http://m.mlb.com/lad/video/topic/8878826/v255246483/feliciano-gets-six-homers-in-hs-select-hr-derby
  11. Great name at least. Akil Baddoo would also be good in that department.
  12. Not sure how you can conclude that for a guy who had 82 SB in 602 AB with an 89% success rate for his college career.
  13. Cardinals get another top-25-ranked pick, RHP Connor Jones. Ugh...
  14. At #67 Royals took RHP A.J. Puckett... would have loved to get him and A.J. Puk to establish a new Spahn/Sain combo: "Puk and Puckett and then just [expletive deleted by moderator] it"
  15. Note to MLB.com: reading the scouting blurb and slow-panning a still photo does not constitute a scouting "video"
  16. Another cool article about Corey Ray: https://theundefeated.com/features/you-need-to-get-hip-to-corey-ray/
  17. Preferably a college OF with no scouting report on MLB.com who was unranked by all of the major evaluators.
  18. Baseball America's best available players going into Round 2 #19 Nolan Jones SS (HS) #24 Connor Jones RHP (JR) #25 Kyle Muller LHP (HS) #31 Bryan Reynolds OF (JR) #32 Jared Horn RHP (HS) #33 Buddy Reed OF (JR)
  19. How far into the draft before we can stop pretending Harold Reynolds has scouted all of these players?
  20. Would be great if we have enough money in our draft pool at #5 to get one of the high upside HS pitchers remaining.
  21. Are you just trolling at this point, or what?
