  1. Seem like pipe dreams, but if Jeffress or Smith are involved I have a hard time predicting the return. Granted Miller is arguably the best RP in baseball right now, but there are reports that the Nats would trade Giolito for him and the Yankees would demand more!
  2. I would much rather have Rosario than Arcia. I don't think Arcia will ever hit enough to be a star. Doubt Rosario is available in a trade though.
  3. Another glitch in the Matrix.
  4. Bauer is not very good, and anyways would not help us very much given his remaining years of team control.
  5. d'Arnaud is obviously useless to us, but I think Amed Rosario might be the best prospect (out of any of them) that we could conceivably center a Lucroy deal around.
  6. I think the mystery team might be the Mariners, with any possible deal almost necessarily being centered around Kyle Lewis. Unclear whether his injury makes him untradeable, people don't seem concerned about the long-term affect.
  7. Then you're going to have to settle for a back-of-the-rotation starter or average starting position player. The advantage of low-minors players is you get potential superstars.
  8. I could see Stearns demanding one of Frazier or Zimmer as the "safe" headliner, probably RHP Tristan McKenzie (he just seems like a Stearns prospect), and a couple lower-level fliers, maybe LHP Juan Hillman (19 yo, A-) and 2B Mark Mathias (21yo, A+). However, I also think Stearns is going to end up packaging Smith to get the package he wants. My final Cleveland prediction: C Jonathan Lucroy LHP Will Smith for OF Bradley Zimmer RHP Tristan McKenzie LHP Juan Hillman 2B Mark Mathias It's possible that Stearns demands C Francisco Mejia instead of McKenzie, given how aggressively the organization targeted young catchers in the last draft, but on the other hand that might cut the other way if they like the guys they've got.
  9. [sarcasm]How about Jonathan Lucroy to Colorado (Springs) for Josmil Pinto?[/sarcasm]
  10. It's much closer to us trading Orlando Arcia for half a season of a RP, actually...
  11. Insane overpay given that the bullpen has not been a particular problem area for the Cubs.
  12. Don't the Cubs already have a really good bullpen? I feel like they could have landed Braun (and $$$) for that package.
  13. I would ask for C Travis d'Arnaud, SS Amed Rosario, and 1B Dom Smith from the Mets. Personally, I think Rosario is a better prospect than Arcia, though the former would probable be moved on the Brewers (2B? 3B?) given Arcia's superior defense at SS.
  14. Will Chris Sale be permanently labeled a "head case" or is that reserved for "fiery" Latin American players? Because this is honestly the most ridiculous/idiotic thing I can remember an MLB player doing.
  15. People don't want a guy who has a very good chance of being Adam Dunn at 3B? Suit yourselves, I would love Gallo. Not everybody needs to be a five-tool player.
  16. This means Lucroy is their priority. So obvious that his source is in the Indians organization, so why else would they leak this info. Bargaining tactic.
  17. How's this proposal for restocking the farm? C Jonathan Lucroy for LHP Brady Aiken RHP Triston McKenzie LHP Justus Sheffield
  18. I think Erceg is a better prospect at this point. He needs to be playing in the field in the minors as well, and so he gets priority at 3B.
  19. Ironically, whoever the Indians call up from AAA to replace Gomes will probably be an upgrade over his shocking .162/.196/.308 batting line. Could still see Cleveland as major contenders for Lucroy now though.
  20. [sarcasm]Nelson, Peralta, Garza, Guerra, take your pick![/sarcasm]
  21. Apparently there's some confusion as to whether Brennan Price actually signed, per TH.
  22. Couldn't setting your asking price way too high be setting an awful precedent too? Who wants to negotiate with someone who completely overvalues their players and refuses to acknowledge doing so? I have no problem with him lowering his price if it becomes clear nobody is going to meet it. As I've said before getting a comp pick for Lucroy would be a disaster. A comp pick is 1.5 years away. We are in the enviable position of having absolutely no reason to trade Lucroy now if the asking price is not met. He's under control next season and cheap.
  23. I would put Hader ahead of Arcia at this point, based on upside.
  24. Calling him an "underslot guy" is pretty misleading. Unless you are Bryce Harper or Stephen Strasburg, these days virtually all of the top picks get paid well below what the recommended slot value is. So while technically true, "underslot guy" suggests he was a cost-saving reach at #5, which is objectively false.
