  1. I may be wrong (and those who followed him more may correct me) but hasn't davis typically gotten off to slow starts every year?
  2. big wily style so far.... if he lives up to his talent level this season this team is dangerous
  3. I'm pretty excited about how the pirates fans think because of one good year out of decades that they're superior to the brewers. Hopefully their players think the same
  4. I wouldn't take roenicke to a party with all the wang blocking he does
  5. Since entering the minors thornburg's stat line has be ridiculous. Last season I believe he simply got screwed over and let it get to him in AAA which is why they kept him on the big league club. His initial comparison was to tim lincecum (Cy young version) and I believe that. Personally I would much rather have him in the rotation than estrada given his potential. From what I watched in the minors he's always had control of all of his pitches.
  6. Is there some sort of class these players have to take that teaches them to be d bags and hypocrites? It seems like every one they promote acts exactly like the rest. I know the fans excuse for their actions is that they are completely uneducated and racist trash (not all, but most). It's like watching the cowboys in the mid 90's except at least they were honest about being trashy and only cared about winning. Is there a cardinals hate site for all other fans in baseball to talk about how much they hate them?
  7. The Scooter/ weeks platoon makes sense but I really hope Overbay does not start against many RHP's. The lineup looks a lot better with a power threat in reynolds
  8. Wow, those are some smart 11 year olds. Already in college at that age. Hope is doesn't wreck their emotional development. All we have to do is observe a one doogie howser to see how this truly harms the young mind... After all the things he has done to Harold and Kumar I fear for all these 11 year olds
  9. peralta- zero boos during games at busch. Braun- relentless boos for years to come Sense made? None.
  10. IMO our society gets way too emotionally involved with sports in general (I was once one of those people). If you honestly have even a second to waste on hating an entertainer I would like to borrow some of your time. Heck, I don't even have children yet (then I will buy your extra time). He screwed up. Then he screwed up again. Then he said "oh crap they caught me" and confessed. Yeah, he should never be viewed the same- it doesn't make it right that many more unknown players do it. Nothing justifies his actions. To me it's like one of my favorite musicians doing a duet with lady gaga. It's all for the money and we choose the entertainers we follow/ listen to. Choose to forgive him or move on. All he is going to do is keep his head down and hit homeruns. The people who have time to hate him have personal problems and use that as their outlet and will continue to do so- in my mind that's a reflection of your life.
  11. I would still rather see estrada go back to the long role in the BP giving thornburg the 4th spot and have nelson/ smith battle for the 5th spot. I guess the organization feels like only developing one high upside younger starter at a time for whatever reason... it's not like we will be more than a .500 team this year (unless the cardinals, reds and pirates all have major injuries/ failures)
  12. It seems to me there will be rickie weeks apologists saying "it's too early to give up on him" until he is at least 80 years old.... it isn't that his overall line is always horrible because of a good stretch once a year, but when he's bad he can't bunt, can't make contact, can't field, can't catch a flyball (for 80+ games)- he is about as useful as having bilbo baggins playing 2b. In all actuality, I would prefer to have bilbo baggins playing over weeks. ANYTHING that Scooter can do is better than rickie... average defense, average hitting, who cares? Those 80+ games that a black hole plays 2b for us destroys our run producing ability.
  13. Will hart last one inning or one game on those knees? Yikes. Jack z is taking a page out of my late 90's video game lineups that included the likes of Frank Thomas at SS
  14. I wonder how much Billy butler is going to cost.... Aside from just winging it with morris/ halton/ francisco or Moving Braun I see that as the only option that makes sense at 1b
  15. I would be very interested in Hughes at the right price. He is still young enough to realize his potential which I would much rather see than Arroyo for 11 million a year. I'm just glad the cardinals have enough pitching or he would win 20 games and have a sub 2.5 era for them next year.
  16. ESPN loves the cardinals just as well as the sox... every other article is about their "model franchise" and how "they do things the right way". I'll take beards, which are never negative or annoying (ask the most interesting man in the world) over self righteous hypocrisy crap any day.
  17. There simply has to be something going on that we don't know about.. something like others have stated the team quitting on Roenicke. On that note how on earth are the marlins still 7 games behind us?? Good lord.
  18. Even an optimist has to start questioning this team nearly 1/4 of the way through the season. There's a lot of time left, but man being behind the Cubs (wow) and dropping 9/10 division games is looking bad.
  19. I wonder how long i'd have my job if i kept putting people in very important, magnified situations at work after they failed time and time again... Probably not too long.
  20. Axford's quote tonight after giving up another few runs "I pitched well, the fans shouldn't boo me".
  21. My response to axford warming up in a one run game in the 8th; Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mah-ah-ness
