  1. IMO calling people "alcoholics" and "stupid" for getting DUI's is absolutely ridiculous. Being drunk causes you to make bad decisions... somehow every single person that I know who is currently practicing law has a DUI. Two doctors I went to high school with had one. I manage a large retail store and I had one. If we lack intelligence, I guess i fear to ask some of you what you think of others in society? Are they cavemen? Some people just choose to drink to excess now and then, which sometimes leads to a bad decision. Should they be punished ? Absolutely. If i got another DUI i believe I would deserve to have my license taken away for life. Should we string them up? I'd like to think we're beyond such days.
  2. It's one pitch but it sure would be nice if that kind of thing continues to have a quick hook out of the closer's role for Ax
  3. Because he hit a three run homer on opening day in San Fran what was it three years ago? But seriously, what happened to gallardo's bat?
  4. who made the call about mark A adding yuni because we won 96 games with him?
  5. May your bats be mighty and your bullpen be anything north of sucky. Go CREW!!!
  6. I'm old now. The tubes confuse me. Get off my lawn. Any combination of Gran torino and Yuni B makes me smile... I'd like to add a dash of Waterworld in there for perfection.
  7. I'm very glad to see the IGT's again! If nothing else this season should be interesting with all the young arms and big bats we have. Go crew!!
  8. As much as I love the young pitching talent we have, add me to the group that thinks this season has a huge potential downside and a very slim potential for competition. I usually over value young pitchers and think they will all be great but at least 1/2 of Rogers/fiers/peralta/thornberg will completely tank if given a long look this year. That's not just a feeling, that's looking at any young, talented arms in the past (and those have mainly been thought of far superior to our guys)
  9. I'm starting to believe this league is rigged like basketball. The cardinals have average talent at best once again and they're no doubt going to win it all... unreal.
  10. I would not include veras or k rod since both are likely to get around 4 million. We couldn't find better options for that price? I think we could get some one with a little more consistency for sure. Other than that I agree with henderson and kintzler. I would also make it clear the closer's role is an open competition in spring training.
  11. This thread is quickly becoming relatable to "A letter concerning toleration" by John Locke. While i'm not one to promote woo-ing and would probably address the issue if it happened near me, it's probably just something we'll have to live with (and hope it doesn't spread to Miller park).
  12. Estrada had about 10 pitches better than that called balls. Bad call IMO
  13. how many times do you have to see some one suck?? seriously, get him out
  14. It would have been very nice to handle houston earlier in the year rather than the opposite... Oh well, maybe the cubs can win a couple against the cards.
  15. weeks was easily safe. Two bad calls against us so far.
  16. I'm imagining dave chapelle doing "praying mantis" from Robin Hood Men in Tights every time these drunken idiots make that noise
  17. Yeah this is really sad. What kind of message does that send the team? I didn't realize Corey's injury was that severe.. I think my dig on him was based on injuries the past couple of years. They just seemed to linger
  18. no hart again? I haven't thoroughly investigated his injury but man that guy seems to take forever with every little injury.
  19. I just can't see the cardinals beating even these teams. Wainwright is toast, beltran is reverting to his mets days, furcal and berkmann are done... They basically have lohse and holiday. At the same time the cubs and astros seem to be loving the spoiler role. I can't imagine the cardinals going more than 7-8. Call it skewed logic or payback for all the lucky years, I see the cards finally getting theirs.
  20. I think we are vastly over estimating how the cardinals and dodgers are playing right now. Both look nearly as dead in the water as the pirates. Call me crazy if you wish but I don't believe the 2nd place finisher in this 2nd wild card spot will win 85 games. Unless carpenter is using something mcgwire gave him and he throws three shut outs... which wouldn't surprise me.
  21. Can we shut this thread down so I don't get angry every single time I come on here? He's the only elderly person of all time i would lay out if I ever came in contact with him in public. The baseball side is only part of the reason I hate him... Just seems like a completely awful person through and through.
