  1. Does anybody else think "Outman" is a great name for a pitcher?
  2. I want to say I got mine at All Star FanFest for signing up for a credit card, but I'm not 100% certain. It could have been available in other ways as well.
  3. You know it's cold out when you can see your breath. And then it falls and hits you on top of your feet. Most schools around Eau Claire are closed, but as of now EC is still open.
  4. Had to have been signed very late in the season. Very interesting list of players, with the inclusion of Bianco, Currence, and Lind. Augie made his major league debut on September 9th that year, too.
  5. In high school (almost 20 years ago) I could only touch the mid 60s. For one season, though, I had an absolutely amazing curve and a decent slider. For reasons still unknown, I completely lost my breaking pitches the following year. Every once in a while I'll still try to snap one off while playing catch but it's never been the same.
  6. I would love... LOVE... for Mike Jones to wind up at Milwaukee at some point so that Tom would run into him in the clubhouse. Wouldn't that require TH to actually attend a game rather than follow along with his comped mlb.com subscription? In all seriousness, I've been rooting for Mike as he just keeps persevering. He's still young enough to make it if all the chips fall correctly for him for once.
  7. The other day the forecast discussion for Chanhassen (Twin Cities) concluded with "It's good to see a real winter for a change". That smugness made my want to break his arm (if it broke badly enough, would he have his arm in an extended forecast? Thank you--I'm here all week.).
  8. I'd like to see all roads in Wisconsin have a rock salt component or the little heating coils in them that melts snow and ice on contact. It would make living in Wisconsin during this time of year a little less of a hassle.
  9. I like Jermaine Dye. And 794 is my lucky number. Sent you a PM.
  10. By the tone of this thread, it seems like the sale was a bit of a let down. I'm nearly 4 hours away and was considering driving down tomorrow (thorough snow, light as it may be it still could cause some issues). Are you saying I should probably stay away? Assuming the answer is yes, if anyone is planning on stopping by and could pick up a bag of trinket items ($5 and under) for me as stocking stuffers, please PM me. The game-used items, at those prices, are of no interest to me, but those ASG and particularly the Flag hats are (big head--size 7 5/8 or 7 3/4). I'll pass on the stripper hat, though. I'd be most appreciative of both the advice and the shopping help!
  11. I'm pretty much with Valpo--I can down pretty much any item from a fast food place or even a convenience store. But my one venture into the Gilbert Burger from BK is the lone exception. It was just a 3,000 calorie pile of slop. I didn't get through more than a few bites.
  12. The St. Paul Saints had a film crew follow the team around the season that Darryl Strawberry played for them. The name of the series escapes me at the moment but it was broadcast on FX network, of all places. Also, the Indianapolis Indians did an excellent piece a few years back called "A Player to be Named Later" that followed the team, with maybe a little more of a focus on Marcos Scutaro. I'm always up for another one of these type documentaries (I'm a sucker for the "Hard Knocks" series on HBO), but as Kat mentioned, it could really get pricey to produce. Best of luck to you!
  13. Has it been a recent thing with Steve Hovley? I remember getting him through the mail on my first try maybe 1996 or so. I didn't have an address, but one of his teammates (Bob Locker maybe?) was nice enough to put me in touch with him. If you add in Seattle Pilots, I'd say Miggy Fuentes would probably top the list of toughest (and you'd have to add Dr. Mike Marshall to the overall list, too). I've got him on a Pilots team ball but I've seen cuts go for $4-500. Anyway, to get back on track--Vuke for $100+? No thanks.
  14. PM sent to Chuckie. Thanks!
  15. I'd love to be in line for an extra DVD voucher. Thanks!
  16. PM Sent to you, Jamie...
  17. I think we eliminated the Reds today!
  18. Yep--the smallish museum in Clear Lake is split in half to honor the community's two most famous sons. One side is for Gaylord Nelson and one is for Burleigh Grimes. It's nice, but the real treat is talking with Burleigh's best friend (who is one of the museum's curators and a fellow SABRite). Charles Clark was like a son to Burleigh and would accompany him to the Hall of Fame ceremonies each year. Charles' home is covered with photos of him and Burleigh with all of these legendary baseball figures and Charles has a story or ten for every single one of them. A few years ago I stopped by figuring to spend an hour or so with him but it turned in to an all-day talk. I hope to go over again soon and pick up where we left off. Thanks again for the kudos everyone.
  19. Baseball-reference most similar player is Gabe Kapler. Does this mean that Russell isn't expected to come back?
  20. You guys are way too nice. Thanks so much. I agree that the contributors here on Brewerfan are absolutely amazing and you have expanded my Brewer fandom by 1000%. However, I think my biggest bf.net contribution is winning a "Google Won't Save You" contest once.
  21. Early Favorite- Rookie Poster of the Year? My pick is "Other" Takes guts to start on haiku night. Great job so far. Look forward to more.
  22. In 10 days, 3 hours, and 10 minutes, my wife and I are heading to Hawaii, which is probably our favorite place, and bringing along our children. First time for the kids--should be interesting. edit: 10 days, 3 hours, and 8 minutes. I type slowly.
  23. Is Erin Andrews enough of a celebrity?

    Cuil

I "cuiled" "cuil" and came back with no results. I think that says a lot right there.
