  1. Record: 86-76 All Stars: Braun, Segura Biggest Surprise: Estrada, staying healthy! Biggest Disappointment: I DONT BELIEVE IN NEGATIVE OUTLOOKS! Playoffs: 2nd WC Place: 2nd Central NL Playoff Teams: Nats, Cards, Diamondbacks, Atlanta, Brewers AL Playoff Teams: Boston, Cleveland, Oakland, Baltimore, Texas World Series: Nationals over Oakland
  2. again, at least 1B is completely open in 2015 for Halton/Morris/Rogers to win and not have to compete with Juan Francisco for playing time.
  3. last year at 1B the following players over 162 games hit .206/.259/.370: Francisco-62 Betancourt-46 Halton-19 Gonzalez-16 Lucroy-9 Maldonado-7 Lalli-3 i'd take the numbers you hope 1B will produce over the stats 1B over 7 players produced last year
  4. Losing juan also opens up 1B after the season for halton/morris/whoever, or even this season should either get hurt or cut
  5. Tom ‏@Haudricourt 1m No word of any trade involving #Brewers Juan Francisco. This has the appearance of a DFA and wait-and-see situation.
  6. [sarcasm]can one of them play first base?[/sarcasm]
  7. still has yet to issue a walk
  8. in the event of an injury to the rotation in the first part of the season for the pirates I can tell you they will fill that hole with Volquez before they bring up Taillon. Taillon wont see MLB time unless they have multiple SP injuries early in the year. The pirates are paying Volquez 5 million dollars, he will be in that rotation for most the season. Thats pretty much whats being talked about here in Pittsburgh.
  9. Please quote your source. You don't think perhaps you're being a little bit intellectually dishonest here? You really expect me to pour through the threads going back to the end of last season through the first couple months of the off-season and cite the NUMEROUS comments where people were talking about how our budget was in the low to mid 80's? Hell, there was literally a signature someone had where I said I thought the Brewers were capable of spending closer to 110 than 80 million in a thread in which I had this exact discussion. the argument in that thread was you were set that the brewers were going to break 100 million in 2013, and a lot of us said they were gunna float around 80, and so I wouldnt forget, I quoted you in my signature. it had nothing to do with where the team was going to be a couple years later
  10. how many pitchers have successfully comeback from two TJ surgeries?
  11. Michael Olmsted has agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the Red Sox and will be in minor league camp with the team upon completion of a physical, according to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish. The 26-year-old struggled with command and posted a 5.82 ERA in his first taste of Triple-A last season but has a 3.02 career ERA in the minors as a whole to go along with a gaudy 11.1 K/9 rate and a serviceable 3.7 BB/9 rate.
  12. pirates signed him to a contract, came over and during the physical they found he needed TJ which they then voided the previous deal and signed him to a new contract. by doing that they voided out his "entry" contract (gives him that 5 years of protection in the pirates system) since he signed a second contract, and exposed him to Rule V drafting.
  13. this is easily my favorite part of this board, what you (and all the other contributors) do is really great!
  14. there was an interview with Molitor about Sano, and that was the first time I realized that Molitor had TJ surgery in 1984, and was one of the first position players to have that procedure. He had a lot of confidence in Sano being able to bounce back, especially being 20 years old
  15. Juan Fran, 2-2 AB, 2 HR Overbaynolds, 0-4 AB
  16. braun homered in first ST at bat
  17. Has the MLB put in any rules about the teams that have already lost 1st round picks that then acquire the other QO'd players and then trading them in prearranged deals for teams that don't want to lose their first round pick? Are you required to keep a player so long? I think that'd be considered collusion?
  18. youre correct, hockey is the only sport to have a players association for athletes below the professional level. I believe its called the Professional Hockey Players Association and covers the AHL, ECHL and CHL. There are still a number of leagues, though, that are not members (OHL and WHL are two off hand), but it might be an age-reason as the OHL/WHL players tend to still be under 18 for the most part. fantastic post, by the way
  19. you guys read the article McCalvy did? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mil/around-the-horn-brewers-shortstop?ymd=20140224&content_id=68279180&vkey=news_mil
  20. you mean qualifying offer, not arbitration
  21. this signing really has to impact the money Morales ends up getting. I cant imagine he'd get more than $8 million
  22. im not really blaming the brewers for this, I just wasnt sure if their medical staff would send conditions like this out to specialists, or if they keep it in house.
  23. thats almost two full seasons in 15 months
  24. they werent misdiagnosed by the Brewers medical staff, were they?
