  1. 100% welcome more playoff teams. Playoff baseball is the best
  2. Why is this a both sides issue? The owners locked the players out. If they didn't lock them out, the players would have went on strike. The stoppage was going to happen one way or the other. We'd at least have had some games before the players went on strike. They have no leverage going on strike in the off-season
  3. I think there are two separate things happening in this thread... when it comes to negotiating a labor deal, fans do not matter. owners do not care. they know they can count on fans to come, even in Pittsburgh. they are negotiating to protect their margins as much as they can. the players are negotiating for what is best for them, not the fans. when it comes to the season (on or off season), they will do whatever they have to do to get fans in the seats. They will market the ever living bejebus out of whatever they have to make money, and they will make you feel like they care that you're coming back (some do care, some dont). I think there are people getting this piece mixed up with what labor negotiations are.
  4. Those numbers don't look like theres a fan problem for the owners. If the fan base has consistently been north of 65 million for decades... Then MLB will not consider the fans in negotiations. They will use fans as a sympathy chip, but this is all about how to limit the impact to their bottom line. The people who will get screwed by this are the employees of the franchises and stadiums as any increase expense to the team will be turned around for an offset in other areas.
  5. I dont understand why anyone thinks these negotiations would consider the fans. The union is there to represent the interests of the players, and that is it. MLB is just the corporation looking to maintain their profit margins with give/takes.
  6. i'd for sure like to fill the empty void of Packers and Bills superbowl matchup with some Brewers action!!!
  7. I mean, it's a standard management response/tactic in labor negotiations when strikes/lockouts happen.. to blame someone else. The players are not the ones going on strike here, owners and management are the ones stopping everything, to put pressure on the players and union to cave to their demands. Mlbpa can gain sympathy by saying what they want, but, they've so far kept everything close to the chest outside of the developments of the last 2 days. Unless I'm missing something, I haven't seen what changes the players want, has anyone?
  8. I think you all need to take time and go read some boston comments to feel better about this trade. I know it warmed my heart. everyone thinks this is the worst trade in bostons history. so, take that with some pride, guys.
  9. What if the brewers signed Freddie Freeman?
  10. Sherzer is still getting money from Washington, he's going to be making close to $60mil a year
  11. So glad seager is leaving LA!
  12. Good for him! Glad he turned this season into a nice paycheck
  13. Wow, good for him!
  14. Yo, I am still FEELIN this off-season! Cy young! Some firings and hirings! Couple of stealth moves. I am in to it. All of it.
  15. What about shillings career is HOF? The 3k strikeouts? Other than that I'm not sure what qualifies him.. 6 AS in 20 years? Zero cy Young's? Him pitching with a bloody sock? Politics aside, he is a product of longevity
  16. What a great deal for the pineapple. Hope he thrives just enough, but against Milwaukee
  17. Who is Turing? Alan Turing. English mathematician and computer scientist. Father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence. We are hoping to have him working on the team's FanDuel account - see if we can find some way to pad the team's finances so we extend the budget. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing
  18. I imagine most milb teams are nothing more than tax write-offs for wealthy people who don't really 'care' if it makes money.
  19. Know what rule I have liked? 3 batter minimum for relief pitchers.
  20. Brewers lost to the NL world series team, the trend continues
