  1. His command is gone. Been that way the last 4-5 outings. He’s the first to go when Stearns improves the pen, Claudio the second. Or is it the other way around? Sometimes I think you just say things without actually looking up data. You know it. Lefty Alex Claudio has posted a 1.40 ERA over his last 24 appearances (19.1ip, 3er), including 0.82 over his last 15 outings (11ip, 1er). But yeah, I’m sure Claudio is on his way out the door...
  2. Where have you seen him play?
  3. I’m not huge on parents bringing in kids that are not ready to watch a ball game to begin with so I’m good with the change.
  4. Well, what you think and what it actually is might be very different. If the demand for quality players is high and you are only getting them from a couple of teams, I'd be willing to bet that the prices being asked might be pretty ridiculous. But that is just my opinion towards it. Not much action going on yet so the tweet might have some credibility to it.
  5. I think this is perfect, IF it's reality...time for Stearns to swoop in on someone under the cover of darkness so to speak and get the guy(s) he wants. Beat everyone else to the punch. “The price tag remains exorbitant for the available players” but it’s perfect?
  6. I like the change. The Brewers gave way too much leeway with this and it backfired. Glad they’re correcting it.
  7. The answer to that is never. It has never happened before. Pretty dang cool! Shockingly, Braun never got the weekly away but won NL Player of the Month in July of his rookie season. “Braun was voted the National League (NL) Rookie of the Month for June, ranking first in RBIs (21) and tied for first in home runs (6) among NL rookies that month. He also recorded a .716 slugging percentage and a .435 OBP.”
  8. Also, while investing in those capital projects he is bringing our franchise along with the others. Those things are needed to sustain success long term.
  9. With the off days over the next week, they don’t need another starter until Aug. 3rd if they want to go that route. So yes, they can wait it out a bit if they want to.
  10. A sell off of guys we won’t have next year is still probably the smart play but it’s most likely not going to happen.
  11. You should check out how much WAR Galvis had through his age 24 season (-.2) compared to Arcia at 2.5. And $5.5M is not cheap for the type of player Galvis is. Nor should Stearns ever make moves on the assumption of what he may or may not be able to get in a trade for Yelich and/or Hader. Again, not how things work.
  12. Miguel Rojas, how would he adjust to Miller Park? Seems to be a pretty steady player the last three years averaging over 2 WAR playing SS but also can play other positions.
  13. At least I can understand wanting to upgrade from Arcia. His offense has been better than last year, but it still isn't good. And they aren't even playing him, so something is obviously up there. It sucks, because he's an uber-talented, home-grown 24-year-old kid who has shown elite defensive abilities and solid offensive potential. He's the type of athlete you build around, not jettison. I do understand if their patience with him is wearing thin, though. If they are going to upgrade from Arcia (who still has considerable upside), I sure as heck hope that they target someone better than Galvis, who as Brew4u said, is basically an older, less talented version of Arcia. Your insistence on upgrading from Gamel continues to be much more in the ridiculous category, though, IMO. Nailed it. Brew Crew 92, you found a player that isn’t an upgrade. Yes he’s having a nice year (finally) but you’re giving up on a player that is cheap, controlled, and has tons of talent for a player that isn’t. There’s also this: Sometimes it takes longer. The Brewers offense is good enough that just tossing away Arcia is a really bad idea. They are not desperate.
  14. Head scratcher. Galvis is basically Arcia but almost 30. At least Arcia still has a fighting chance to be good.
  15. Supak’s last start was on July 16th and Aaron Wilkerson was July 17th.
  16. Trey Supak to the rescue!!
  17. Because our understanding of rest as a preventative measure has evolved over time. Yes, hello back tightness. If Grisham CONTINUES to rake, the brewers should consider optioning Gamel, rostering Grisham and calling him up, to give more rest to Braun, Cain even Yelich, without losing much if any offense. He’d get plenty of AB’s, and be playoff eligible. No. No they shouldn’t.
  18. Cal Ripken might have been that much better with a scheduled day off here and there. But I love the streak so glad he did it.
