  1. Would have loved to see Counsell use Soria or Knebel in the 8th and keep Hader available for another game in this series but I understand his thinking of trying to win this one. It sucks because those other guys in the pen haven't been trustworthy and it has affected many bullpen decisions.
  2. I don't mind an ump calling a big zone but if you're going to do that, then you better stay consistent with it all game and not tighten up as the game goes on.
  3. Pull Hader. He's only thrown 17 pitches. He should be able to come back on Wednesday to help us hopefully win another ball game.
  4. The real question is, has Braun made enough starts in left field to collect his gold glove?
  5. Lot's of hot takes on Santana here. It was one at bat where the pitcher made some good pitches. Probably can hold off on crucifying him. I think he will end up having some big hits for us this September.
  6. It’s got to be frustrating. He knows these stats and I’m sure it’s reassuring to some degree for him but at some point you just throw up the arms I’m sure.
  7. It’s only disappointing if you went into it thinking we were better than the Cubs. We just aren’t. Doesn’t mean we cannot hang and beat them a couple times at home but we just aren’t there yet. Baseball is funny. It’s why we watch.
  8. Frustrating to watch. Hamels struggles and the Cubs put him in their rotation. Gio struggles and we seem to not be interested in pitching him.
  9. And now is where it’ll get interesting for Davies. Has pitched well for four innings but we are headed to the third time through in the 5th and 6th innings. Hope Counsell is ready with a plan.
  10. I think it comes down to all fan bases have idiots in them (even the Brewers). The five drunk Padres fans, yes they have fans, were unbearable a few weeks back. Ended up moving because of them. I think part of it is that the Cubs are a rivalry, they’re really good, and their fans know it. That is gonna rub our fans the wrong way of course.
  11. I would’ve loved to go to the game today but with school starting, it’s just not a good day for it. I have had fine experiences with other Cubs games I’ve went to but can tell I’m in the minority on that end. I don’t see a huge issue as they help us make some cash each and every year. Just win and they’ll be quiet.
  12. Figured a new thread was in order as we start into a new season. Opening the season on Sunday Night Football against Mack and the Bears! edited thread title to reflect FINAL record
  13. Miley, Davies, Anderson, Chacin and Gonzalez is my guess. They didn't get Gonzalez to pitch out of the pen. I'm guessing they'll start him. Counsel will say stuff about 'veteran' and 'been there' - then allude to not wanting to put a young player in a difficult spot (which I hate). That's my guess. Mine too. Woody will get some more BP action though.
  14. He’s a guy I thought would eventually just fall out of the league but continues to give teams a quality role player guy. I mean his OPS is mid 800’s
  15. One is basically 31 years old and the other is their prized arm and is 24 years of age. It does make a difference. They want him to last. It’s frustrating to lose games because he isn’t available all the time but the other part of me does understand what they’re doing. So then why not use Jeffress for the last out in the 8th? Probably didn’t want to have to use him in multiple innings. It’s a great question but I’m guessing that’s the thinking.
