  1. That's what happens when you run hard once a month. And he didn't even run hard the entire way.
  2. It's been just great to see Chacin and Miley do what they're doing. Tip of the cap to Johnson for what he is doing with these guys.\ Edit: And Stearns for finding a match.
  3. Thanks for the clarification Reilly. It is appreciated.
  4. This. Exactly this on top of I love a good redemption story. People mess up. We are all humans. Braun was an individual who was so insecure with himself and that is sad considering he was one of the best baseball players on the planet at the time. He messed up, he's paid his dues and he has done everything in his power to be a good teammate and citizen in the MKE area. What else could he be doing? To me there is an enormous difference between making a one off mistake, a guy makes a bad choice on one particular night and takes something he shouldn't, and a guy who is just a shady individual who says all the right things but won't hesitate to get away with anything he can. I think Braun is clearly in the latter category. Do you believe that if Braun were able to go back to the beginning of his career, he would say, "I'm not going to do that again." ? I don't believe that for a second. I believe he would say, "I'm going to do it again, but I'm going to be a lot more careful this time." I think if you were to ask him, he probably regrets what he did because of hurting those he cares about. And I'm talking about the lying when caught part. Doing the steroids/HGH stuff, he might do again. Plenty of these guys might. Heck I might've in their situations. I don't think this makes you a bad person at all. When it sets your family up for generations, it is pretty hard to not do the things they are doing to achieve it.

  6. adambr2 is right, (it is my post). It would've been a lot better if I had worded it the way he broke it down in his post and I know I need to work to get better at doing it. IGT's sometimes lead to more in the moment, off the cuff dialogue but that is no excuse. Where I get frustrated is exactly what 82brewcrew82 pointed out. And Homer, I don't mean to call you out but you publicly tried to embarrass/shame me for a lot less than the post used in 82brewcrew82's example. That is where it gets frustrating as a poster to see this stuff but yet, you are targeted (now twice). And at no time has a mod ever reached out in a PM to discuss anything. This thread is great for communication with some of this stuff that has been happening around here but that is where it ends with communication.
  7. Not only a botched call but like another poster pointed out, some of the umpires didn't even know he hit the ball with his bat. I mean, come on. Pay attention. I will say it is nice that a play like this didn't define the game for the Brewers. Some of their past teams would've rolled over and died that inning. Refreshing.
  8. Just wanted to put the actual post being called out because I believe Reilly’s post to be a bit misleading. Could the above post been worded differently? Probably. But it’s only asking a poster to not use BA as their only source of information. And in the context of the “argument” to not cherry pick stats to try to make a point in which the poster admitted doing after two posters discussed with him. And on top of that, when a mod said that’s enough, it stopped. I get that mods are using this thread to vent a bit too but this really wasn’t much of anything. Probably a better course of dialogue than the 15 other pages of “Brewers suck” this or that player sucks, yada yada yada.
  9. Haha I love your hatred for the umpires. It's usually over the top, I'll admit, but it's more than well-deserved tonight. Oh for sure it is warranted tonight (and most nights).
  10. He was optioned. MLB rules state he has 72 hours to report. I suppose he could have made the trip, but I kinda doubt it. Yeah I just remember CC saying he would work with Johnson in the pen before getting work in Colorado. Who knows
  11. Well we are in Cincinnati lol I would venture to guess Knebel did not make the trip to Cincy. He going to throw bullpens for Johnson via Skype?
  12. They're not my only assessment tool. Clutch hitting starts with hitting safely in high pressure situations. You can look beyond that one metric all you want. In situations where his team was behind, Shaw failed to hit safely in 8 out of 10 at bats. That's terrible. And when it’s tied, or a RISP w/ two outs? Those aren’t clutch situations? You literally picked out two stats of the entire bunch to make a point. It’s just such a crappy way to make a point. But I’m done arguing. Im sure I’ll get some sort of mod after me even though this was a flat out ridiculous take. Edit: and there it is....
  13. 1 season clutch stats are worthless because the sample is too small. For his career Shaw has a 134 tOPS+ in high leverage situations. He has been about as clutch as a player can be. Even that is only 387 PA though so might not be meaningful, but his actual stats in those situations do not support not being clutch. They're hardly worthless. Let me reshape the comment. Travis Shaw has not been clutch in 2018. Better? He's had 75 PA's when his team was in a late & close situation, and has hit .216. He's had 172 PAs when his team has been behind, and has hit .203. I don't care what he did two years ago when he was playing in a different city. Two years ago, Ryan Braun hit .300 + with 30 HR. Is that who he is now? No, of course not. Shaw, in 2018, has regressed. When we've needed him to step up, statistical analysis says he's failed to do so this season. Don’t let those 128 PA’s of over .600 slugging with the game tied slap you in the face while trying to pull certain stats to prove your point (in which you’re wrong).
  14. It seems like Freddy Peralta pitched yesterday. That’s what happens when you pull a pitcher too soon. I’d already be tucked into bed after a Brewer win.
  15. His clutch stats say otherwise. In 2018, per baseball-reference.com's "clutch stats", Travis Shaw is hitting .216 when the Brewers are behind. In "late and close" situations, he's hitting .203. Since it's late and close, and we're behind, both metrics apply, and I wouldn't say either of those would support your assessment that he's "clutch". Oh man. Using batting average as your only assessment tool. Try scrolling a bit to the right to see those OPS numbers. And then check out those career numbers to support it even further.
