  1. There are other ways to add a 5 ERA type pitcher to your staff this time of year without spending 5 million dollars. We don't need a "veteran". We need a good starter. Yep. If we are going to add to the rotation it should actually be a clear upgrade. If we grabbed Hamels and he continues his terrible pitching, the pitch forks would be outside Miller Park.
  2. Knebel’s walk rate is lower this year than his last two years.
  3. Worrying about what the Cubs do or don’t do would be the stupid thing. Stearns has a job to give us a chance to win this season and set us up for future seasons. Hamels wasn’t going to move the needle. Not sure why some want to keep getting so upset every time the Cubs make a move.
  4. Hader and Jeffress don’t get closing opportunities mainly because they can cover more than one inning and Knebel has trouble when doing that so it does make some sense that you keep him in more of a traditional role. Soria will probably push that a bit since he too is good at getting the last few outs of a game.
  5. Today is the first day I slept past 9am in a long, long time. Damn west coast games. Looking forward to another day of trade possibles and roster moves.
  6. I don't think anyone really has "jobs" in that pen, besides Knebel. You are just as likely to see Jeffress in the 6th as you are in the 8th. I'm sure Soria will slot in the same way. Matchups and leverage outs Meant more so that Soria will end up getting these types of spots late in games over Jeffress.
  7. Harvey would be a depressing get for the crew. I’d rather see Burnes start.
  8. Soria is going to take Jeffress job. He’s walked a tightrope for awhile now.
  9. Villar has played good defense at 2B this season. If he just hit from the left side better this year, he would be golden.
  10. Try being on the east coast. My brother complains all the time. When I lived in Albuquerque it was kind of nice to be in the Mountain time zone.
  11. Would love Thames to put one in the seats so I can hit the pillow. Going to be a long road trip.
  12. Much better. Keep doing that. It’ll all work itself out.
  13. Didn’t they say he was thinking about retiring before being traded?
  14. Pretty sure Thames has been in LF all game long. Yes all game. Just wondering if it had been other games before this. Oh gotcha. I think like other posters have said it’s by the ballpark. It’d be nice to get a lead and get Broxton out there though.
  15. If Saladino (or anyone else capable of playing short) isn't going to hit anyway, then we might as well have the glove out there. Getting a 2B who isn't an offense black hole would go a long way toward covering for Arcia's lack of offense this year. There aren't a lot of SS options on the market that are going to provide decent offense. 2B seems much more stacked. Yep. If Villar isn’t going to come through at 2B, or even stay healthy, then go get Dozier and live with what Arcia gives you. Finding a decent catcher could help too but just not sure who that could be.
  16. Arcia might be a player that can’t get out of his own way mentally. Either way I’ll wait awhile before jumping to conclusion. Sure is nice having him in the field again though.
  17. Well he better figure it out if he wants to continue being a 3-4 hitter in this league. The good ones do. Blaming him waving at a hanging curveball to strike out on Shaw and Braun is flat out absurd whether it is from you or the Giants announcers. He’s had plenty to hit. He just hasn’t.
  18. He basically replaced Suter. 2 runs over 5 innings... I’ll take it.
