Wouldn't logic dictate, then, that you, too, are playing armchair GM by assuming there wasn't a palatable trade for a starting pitcher on the table for Santana? For all we know, there could have been a very nice starting pitcher on the table, but Stearns is severely overvaluing Santana. If that's the case, that's on Stearns. Don't be condescending. Just because I have a more critical view of how Stearns has built this team, doesn't mean my opinion is any less valid than yours. It’s not condescending. Sorry if it came off that way but it’s not about my opinion or yours about how Stearns built this team that we are talking about even. You’re (and a lot of others) complaining about not making a trade that none of us even have the slightest clue about. It’s playing make believe by assuming Stearns could’ve just parlayed Santana into prospects of a rotation piece considering there went a single report that this would occur. Just speculation by people. Heck, there was more reporting on how Santana lacked trade value than there was of him being a piece we could move for something.

Probably smart to get Chase out of there but getting only four innings from your ace isn’t ideal.

Mike Cameron and Braun in the same sentence. Ay yiy yiy. Batting average isn’t everything but the dudes career OPS... career in the .700’s. Braun has an ops in the .800’s during a season and people lose their minds. -
Why? We constantly have good players playing... how doesn’t that help us win ball games? That us very arguable when it comes to the rotation, where trading Santana should have helped. Even if they had to package a good prospect with him, they should have gotten a pitcher. Just because there wasn’t a trade in the off-season doesn’t mean it won’t happen. And obviously these deals people speak of weren’t quality ones or they would’ve happened. We try to play armchair GM about crap we have no idea about. Done doing that. I’ll enjoy the extra offense while we have it. Heck we speculate about these awesome deals even those multiple reports said other Gms don’t value Santana. Arm chair GMs. I tell ya.

You don't really have anything. It doesn't work because they have guys that are everyday players on the bench, and guys that should be on the major league team in the minors. Sure, that is nice on paper, but it doesn't really help the team dynamic. Why? We constantly have good players playing... how doesn’t that help us win ball games?

The current roster construction doesn’t work because we have a good player on the bench and not Kirk Niewenhuis. Got it.

Braun will have a chance if he can put together a nice stretch of seasons and the Hall loosens up on their stance with guy and PED's. -
There is something to this. Selig created most of the mess and when guys like Bonds, Clemens etc... basically got away with it, he had to make a case out of someone. That someone was Arod and Braun was a byproduct of that situation. That doesn't excuse Braun but there were sooooooo many more players involved in this. Someone mentioned Kemp and how quiet he has been and the reason is most likely he was doing it too along with many other players.

Depends on what the price increase was and if that employer actually took care of their employees and didnt pay them crap rates.

He was a good player in 2015 and 2016 but nowhere close to the caliber of player he was in 2011 and 2012 pre-suspension. 2012 was his last year as an elite MVP caliber player. How many players have the production at 31-34 that they did at 25-28? I mean we have to be a little bit honest about the situation too. It's not like many guys produce at the levels he did while in their 30's... at least not guys who weren't (allegedly) taking something.

2014 & 2015 buck the trend that he fell off the face of the earth after his suspension. Not using didn't derail his career. Nagging injuries have put halt to some of the gaudy numbers he was putting up.

After listening to other teams broadcasts (I suggest you all try it), you'll realize that Bob isn't that bad. While he has more errors these days, he's not even close to the worst around the league. There are some flat out crap broadcasters in TV and radio.

Arcia being 23 years old helps me with it but yes, he flails away quite a bit still.

Yeah not disagreeing with that but I want to see these guys make 4-5 starts and then make adjustments accordingly if need be. Not unreasonable. Hopefully that doesn't bury them by then. If last years early season rotation didn’t bury them, I’m good with their plan. They didn’t really start to turn it on til June. It’s a long season.
