  1. I think this guy has defense and rebounding issues.
  2. Injuries don't need to occur for it to work. The days of 162 games played are over. Dead. And good riddance. If we keep five guys(Braun, Santana, Yelich, Cain, Thames), who can play at an all-star level, fresh for the entire season, that is a huge win for this team. They will be better because of it. Counsell's job is to make sure they all buy into that and I have a feeling he will. It's either that or one or more of those players won't produce or gets hurt and then playing time becomes really simple.
  3. Too tired to link up some stories but he’s talked about being mentally drained during the season a year ago and how he needs to learn how not to freak out and such. There’s probably a really good connection to his slumping mid year. He’s also talked about turning to English literature to try to help him relax his mind. English Lit always stressed me out more. I could barely even read Shakespeare and don't get me started on Chaucer. Could he be speaking of English poetry possibly? I'm much more of a Sophocles and Dostoyevsky fan, although they are not very relaxing in their own right I suppose. Thames turns to literature to aid consistency ---- "currently working on Alexandre Dumas' adventure novel "The Count of Monte Cristo." Thames given time off to clear mind at plate ---- "Oh my god, yeah," Thames said. "I had a good talk with Counsell. My mind's been working way too much. This gives me a few days to kind of relax and be able to breathe. When you start to slump a little, you start doing more work, and so it's going to be the opposite for me -- read, relax, take a step back and breathe, and then take on the Marlins."
  4. What mental issues? Is there a story here I missed? 5. Braun is a better RF than Santana. Not that it’s saying much.
  6. If Thames had mental issues in Milwaukee can’t imagine him in New York.
  7. But then he also said Braun would play some RF towards the end of ST. But he never did jump out to RF. He played 8 games at first and 4 at LF.
  8. I'd take Montgomery and pay all of Thames contact! Can't imagine the Yankees would trade us a 25-year-old rotation piece that isn't a free agent until 2024 for Eric Thames. Seems pretty unrealistic to me.
  9. Trade Thames to NYY and make Braun the everyday 1B. Choi could be a fine backup there because he's a lefty and can play 1B and LF which is nice for late game substitutions.
  10. That would be huge for the Packers to get Peterson. Think Charles Woodson changing except the guy is in his prime. Giving up a 2nd rounder would be a no-brainer for me.
  11. I feel no remorse for my Badgers beating up on the west. None whatsoever.
  12. Thought this was a really cool quote. Good to hear.
  13. 2018 Brewers Season Predictions Win-Loss Record: 87-75 Playoffs: Yes Highest Playoff Level Achieved: Wild Card Series All Star Game Representative(s): Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun Offensive Player of the Year: Christian Yelich Pitcher of the Year: Zach Davies Most Surprising Player: Ryan Braun Most Disappointing Player: Manny Pina
  14. Stop it, just stop it. You interject to every thread your hatred for signing free agent pitchers. It's annoying! (totally in blue) enjoyed this
  15. Can’t up their payroll because signing free agents pitchers is a crapshoot and the brewers are smart enough to realize that. Not blue.
  16. Fact From Fiction Article per Tom Haudricourt This seemed share worthy and a good read.
  17. You may doubt it but it very well could be true.
  18. Part of the reason I wanted to get out ahead of the curve by signing cobb. Careful with this take its horribly unpopular. I was almost certain you were going with the every year add a chacin model... but nope. I don’t agree signing Cobb adds to this process. I don’t want to replace one of our performing pitchers with an old guy. When a young in forces their way up, make a trade using the performer to fill holes, add depth.
  19. We've heard nothing about an offer to lynn... yu cobb we weren't even close. Might’ve not been interested in Lynn but only wanted to add for the right price and the right price only for the others. Once the offers became out of their price range and year range, that’s probably when Stearns realized that nothing more was going to come. I’m okay with that approach. They left themselves open for an add and it didn’t make sense numbers/years size. Oh well.
  20. Wanted to add, maybe. More likely they did it so they could add if price was right on any of the pitchers. Never happened so it is what it is now.
  21. Stop it. Stop making every damn thread about your Villar hating agenda. It is so damn tiring that every year you do this with certain players. This is exactly what has changed with this message board over the past few years- posts like these. Briggs, a long time poster, made a post that was insightful and gets told to stop it because of his "agenda." We all don't like certain players and we give opinions of that on here. Do we need to be the Police to tell him to stop posting his feelings on a subject? This post just gives his rationale for who is kept and who is vulnerable? Why do we want to "Stop it"? You are obviously don’t read every damn post of his that somehow, magically he connects some dots to either Villar being non tendered or cut. It doesn’t matter what thread it it, he does it. It’s beyond annoying. He does it every year. Every single year he finds something he disagrees with and beats the issue to death and hikacks threads while doing so. Insightful? Please.
  22. They don’t have to be. As prospects emerge, trade the established player before they get super expensive. Hopefully Stearns can guess right more often than not.
  23. Stop it. Stop making every damn thread about your Villar hating agenda. It is so damn tiring that every year you do this with certain players.
  24. The great thing is this will all be decided by production. If any of Thames, Braun, Santana stinks or gets hurt.. this all gets decided pretty easily. I could see Braun playing so well at 1B that he just becomes a permanent player there. I could also see him missing 80 games. We’ll soon find out.
