  1. He can be this way, there is no doubt about that. Last year it seemed to show up even more. The hope is that last year was a year for humility for him. Learning that he is replaceable down to being the 4th-second basemen on the roster in a pennant race either will kick him in the rear to do better or he will stink and we can move on from him. I would just hate to see a youngish guy that put up the season he did in 2016 not get the opportunity to follow that up.
  2. Thanks. Not responding to his reply though. Trying to stay away from that kind of stuff that happens here. Doesn't do me any good nor the boards.
  3. Thank you for that, much appreciated.
  4. Could you elaborate on what you said about it? I probably butchered it a bit.
  5. Someone around here mentioned in a post awhile back that a labrum injury the way he hurt it or that it was a different type of labrum injury that is different than if he hurt it while throwing. Hope that made sense and I wish I remember who posted it. I mean the fact that Jimmy is already throwing is an indicator that it might be healing and maybe not as bad as originally thought to be.
  6. What has changed? Well, the season for starters. It's a brand new one. And if we cut a 26-year old Villar, who has shown a lot of promise in his short time in his Brewer career over the likes of a Sogard... Stearns if flat out stupid. We could insert Counsell in our lineup and he could do what Sogard is going to give us this year. Stearns was silly for even offering him a contract. The guy is a flat out bum at the plate. We already have one of those as our versatile guy in Perez.
  7. How come? I ask because it just makes too much sense to put him in AAA over losing another pitcher because they don't have options.
  8. AL East: Yankees AL Central: Twins AL West: Astros WC1: Red Sox WC2: Indians NL East: Nationals NL Central: Brewers NL West: Diamondbacks WC1: Dodgers WC2: Rockies
  9. Isn't Walker starting at 2B? Or is that Villar and he's your backup? Because Walker isn't signing here to be a backup.
  10. Replace Thames with Aguilar and you have it. Thames is needed on this team either as a starter at 1B (if Santana is traded) or as a great bench bat that can change the outcome late in games. I also, and it pains me to say it, would hold onto Perez because he is so versatile. But Sogard can go. That's my point though. Who cares how versatile Perez is, he would simply no longer be needed. There would already be backups at every position. As far as Thames goes, I rather have Braun at 1B with Walker playing there some. That makes Thames redundant, so he can go too. I was already figuring Aguilar wouldn't be on the roster, so I guess you could say Walker replaces four guys. I think this roster would then be past the times where you need to create starts for guys like Perez and Sogard just to get them action. But you still need bench players. Who would be your bench? I'm getting a little confused.
  11. 5.5 inning per start * 162 games = 891 innings total that we'll probably need from our pitchers. Anderson= 180 (5.6ip per start (32 starts)) Davies = 190 (5.9ip per start (32 starts)) Chacin = 190 (5.9ip per start (32 starts)) Total= 555 We need to find 336+ innings from our 4 & 5 pitchers this year that won't be complete trash. It will probably come from 3-5 different pitchers to fill those two spots in the rotation (if none of the top three get injured).
  12. Replace Thames with Aguilar and you have it. Thames is needed on this team either as a starter at 1B (if Santana is traded) or as a great bench bat that can change the outcome late in games. I also, and it pains me to say it, would hold onto Perez because he is so versatile. But Sogard can go.
  13. I would like to see Christian Betancourt overtake Bandy for the third catcher spot.
  14. Walker does allow you to have some flexibility at 1B and 3B. I would love if they cut the cord with Sogard and signed Walker. That would be a dream because Sogard is going to be really stinky cheese to start the year and it's going to have to take Stearns to pry him from Counsell's cold dead corpse to get him off our roster, heck maybe ever our starting lineup.
  15. Men's curling going for the gold after knocking off Canada!
  16. I really wanted Walker as he would be a great guy to (currently) hit 6th in our lineup. But the more I think about it we have so many guys to plug into that position that you would just hope that either 1 or 2 of those three players would take it and run with it. As another poster mentioned we basically got Walker for nothing so if plan A doesn't occur, it is not like we could be added towards the deadline to shore up that position. Who knows, maybe Villar will come out and be the bandit that he was in 2016, swiping bags all over the place and hitting.
  17. Well the USA curling team beat Canada today for the second time in a few days to move to the gold medal game so I hope this "news" doesn't ruin that good mojo feeling I have today.
  18. I would love for us to stay away from whether HH19 is legit or not but it probably isn't possible. Some will never give the credit, others will take his word as gospel. Striking a middle ground on his source is probably the best course of action as it has provided lots of discussions this offseason and some pretty fun speculation about the Brewers plans. HH19 says 80% probability that Cobb is a Brewer by Monday, that is some fun stuff to think about as long as it is not some ridiculous contract. 1. Anderson 2. Cobb 3. Davies 4. Chacin 5. Woodruff with Nelson rejuvenated(hopefully) come June and possibly adding a starter(Stroman, Paxton, etc..) at the midway point to make the playoff push. This looks like a good course of action for the Brewers to be taking.
  19. Did we ask Thames if he can play second base?
  20. True but the path of scooter was very similar and he didn't show up until 27. Jed Lowrie looks very similar path wise as well. He's had 3 good seasons... 28 29 33. Drury hits more hr than those 2 but his path and milb stats prove nothing going forward. He's 900 ab in and so far he's a guy. I dont feel compelled to trade for a guy who's producing worse than 2 guys you dont feel belong on the roster and a guy we canned last year. I’d take a shot on him over an old Sogard (who I think was a flat out fluke for a month last season) and/or a no OBP Perez. Villar is the one in which who knows right now but Drury had better minor league numbers to his as well. The Scooter mentions I don’t get as Scooter had a nice season early on in his young career and then trended down the next two seasons and was well below replacement level. He’s had a great rebound but we will see how consistent that is coming soon. Drury will be 25 and cheap this year and had a pretty good season last year, similar to his minor league years. Wouldn’t surprise me to see an OPS near .775-.800 for him with some good counting numbers considering the lineup that he’s entering.
  21. Curlers match up against Canada tomorrow to get to the gold medal game. 5am for those that care.
  22. I’m really not sure why it’s so far fetched for an owner to be in tune with their budget and personal salary cap. I would think they would be all over that type of information. Also wouldn’t shock me if Mark is more in tune with players worth as he might be in more contact with Stearns than most think. Nothing wrong with that as long as he trusts Stearns when he gets an answer on a player. Arrieta could be that situation. Could even be something like Boras calls and says give me $125 for five years and Mark says let me discuss it with my GM and get back to you.
  23. You ever think that Stearns has told Mark that he would like Arrieta? And now Boras is going straight to the money man to decide contract for Arrieta? GM’s have their role to build the team and owners pay for it. Maybe we are down to the owner negotiating what he is willing to pay for said player. Not unheard of by any stretch.
  24. If it’s overall 4 for $60 I think I’m out on Cobb.
  25. Perez wasn’t better during the course of his minor league career and Drury has had way better line to his mlb career. When I look at Perez’s stats I wonder how guys like him and Sogard make our roster.
