  1. I don't recall a lot of 100 loss seasons?
  2. The constant whining is getting tiresome, that is all I'm saying... That could apply to a lot, to be honest. Villar playing. WHERE Villar is playing, Braun's days off, Brian flippin' Anderson and whether he's any good or not, CC's bunting decisions etc. Some very tired dead horses, lately... Yeah that's what 162 game seasons do and they get amplified when in a pennant chase. People just need to get over it a bit. No place better than a game thread. Even the strike/ball had ump stuff. It's a peeve of some and it's very warranted. So what.
  3. Santana... woof!! Back to watching pitches down the middle and swinging at junk.
  4. If they figure Villar can play OF, I will be fine with moving on from Perez. Have Villar be super untiliy and sign Walker again. Perez is our worst bat not including Susac.
  5. I'm still a bit annoyed that Perez didn't come in and make a play on that single that dropped in front of him and made it 3-0. I know it wasn't an easy play but with 2 out and a runner at 3rd that's a time to go for it. If he comes up with it it's our lead and the complexion of the game changes . Situational baseball. Being here it looked like he didn't sprint right away at it. Still could have probably made a play on it, agreed.
  6. Won't be in a pennant race for long when your "ace" doesn't pitch likevome. Just awful.
  7. I'm at the game today. It has the feel of a Brewers loss already. No reason that in a pennant race that our best hitter should be on the bench with two off days this week.
  8. Cubs lose! Cubs lose! Cuuuuuuubs lose!!! -1.5 back now I'm heading to Miller Park tomorrow for what I hope to be their 4th in a row!
  9. oh my!! I love Braun and Santana but they are the tops of your list for defense? I hope I'm misunderstanding this. Definitive, not defensive. Lol my bad. Eyes getting sleepy on me.
  10. Reds have walked the first 2 hitters in the bottom of the 8th... Got out of it. Who is red's closer?? Chap.... oh wait. Who knows?!?
  11. oh my!! I love Braun and Santana but they are the tops of your list for defense? I hope I'm misunderstanding this.
  12. Villar last week: .389/.450/.667/1.117 Broxton last week: .154/.267/.385/.651 Villar last two weeks: .308/.357/.500/.857 Broxton last two weeks: .250/.341/.472/.814 Yeah. Rock bottom . Add in the fact there was a righty on the mound and Counsell was looking for more offense. And most likely Villar is just as good defensively if given the innings in CF.
  13. Did Villar not do his job? Oh wait, he did. Complain to complain. 1-4 infield deflected single.... caught one easy play. That's his job? 2 more K swinging at ball 3 on his first freaking ab... not even close... tgats his job. Dude had 4 good games... broxton has been decent since coming up... but ok... 4 games... a position he doesn't play... contending team... villar really murdered nova. Great decision! Last I checked they're winning and he played a big role in getting that lead.
  14. Great way to show the Villar start was dumb Did Villar not do his job? Oh wait, he did. Complain to complain.
  15. You wanna get crazyNuts?? Let's get crazyNuts! Let me ask you something, have you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
  16. Can't hurt to try him out there. He's hot and we've had very little production out there offensively AND defensively. Brinson got hurt in yesterday's ballgame and Phillips looked lost at the plate for the most part. Maybe Villar/Perez are the better options right now.
  17. I guess I was more so assuming a team like the Reds would want to shed that salary. It always feels like they are in a similar position with us and payroll.
  18. Okay this is 99% a pipe dream and probably not reality but Votto has 6 years left on his deal at $25mil per year. The 2024(7th) year he has a $7mil buyout or you pay $20mil for his services again. This would be his age 34-39/40. Since Cincy is a bit away from a serious contender, would they dump that contract for let's say Thames and a couple lottery tickets if we take on that salary or at least the majority of it? 2018 1. Villar-2B (Arby) 2. Votto- 1B ($25 mil) 3. Braun- LF ($20 mil) 4. Shaw- 3B (league min) 5. Santana- RF (league min) 6. Brinson- CF (league min) 7. Pina- C (league min) 8. Arcia- SS (league min) SALARIES: About $50 million. Maybe it's just way too much money to take on over that time period but he's just been so goo and so consistent. Hardly any injuries. Would be fun to do with not much in the pipeline at 1B. Again this is more along the lines of a fun proposal so don't get all bent out of shape about a true rebuild.
