  1. Can't hold onto all the prospects. Some people liked Cordell, some people were meh on him, but either way he was definitely behind Brinson and Phillips in the eyes of Stearns. Couple that with Braun being cemented in left and Santana being cemented in right, this is a no brainer to go and even trade for a rental who is having good success this season.
  2. This will fire up the people who want Gray if true since we do have a lot of CFs in our system.
  3. Garza/Knebel/Villar for Calhoun/Buehler
  4. Can't we post things without being so dramatic towards the style or approach of our GM?
  5. Knebel/Villar to the Dodgers for Willie Calhoun/Walker Buehler.
  6. Snell? No. Brent Honeywell or nothing at all. If we are going to trade away our bullpen at this point it better be for a stud like that.
  7. As has Jacob Nottingham defensively from what has been said. If they find a pitcher in Derby and possible a catcher down the road from Khris Davis, that's a fine trade. If neither pan out, than yeah it was lousy. But still way too early to make judgement on the return.
  8. Maybe they have other targets that are not rental types?
  9. Paging Briggs... paging John Briggs. I kid, I kid...
  10. It is sort of comical that we are not complaining about having too many good players (or the possibility of good players). I don't think a trade has to happen right now. Even if the depth is there next season and we start the year playing the main four (Braun, Phillips, Brinson, Santana) and they do great and they look like the the greatest combo ever, do that stop us from then trading other OF guys (Broxton, Codrell, etc...)? To make a move, just to make a move would be a bad way to do business.
  11. The past two series have sucked, no doubt. But... to base the decision about this teams chances on just these past two series isn't a great idea either.
  12. It probably won't. He wasn't any good before his hot streak. That's okay, then just ride Villar into the ground and hope he'll come out of it. If not, make an adjustment in the offseason. A much younger and cheaper adjustment.
  13. I mean I know Broxton strikes out way too much and it's a problem he needs to fix if he's going to be a career starting caliber CF at the MLB level, but if you're expecting Phillips to be a big upgrade in that department you're likely going to be disappointed. Maybe this season but Phillips is younger and has a different learning curve than Broxton. If Phillips put up Broxtons numbers this year we would probably be accepting it. But Broxton is an older "prospect" so he doesn't get the same leeway as a Phillips.
  14. Just play Villar and Sogard.
  15. Regardless of the content of the post or the poster, let's please stop telling posters to get out or go away. Use the "report a post" feature or PM a mod if you see something that shouldn't be posted. These "go away" posts are cluttering up threads and conversation as much as the troll posts and stuff that people don't want to see. There's where I disagree with ya completely. Mods have not done a great job as of late with the shenanigans from a few posters. It's really taken a toll on this place in quite a few threads.
  16. Took one post back. Go away. This type of stuff is just flat out annoying.
  17. Better yet, the real talent, Braun is.
  18. Another day that the Cubs won be in first place! Let's make it two in a row tomorrow.
  19. Augie's analysis is just brutal. Literally makes me cringe. I feel like Andy Bernard.
  20. Gosh darn it! Stop saying break-in-ball. I'm going to punch a flipping hole in my wall.
  21. I know the jokes have been made but it is worrisome that Braun just had to go 1st to home.
  22. It would be great if Travis Shaw rubbed off on Phillips.
  23. Like I said, this offense has and does run through Braun. Guy's amazing at hitting a baseball.
