  1. I like Barstool. Granted they get a bit much at times but they don’t back away from calling things what they are or calling BS on certain things and I enjoy that. Yelich seems like a good dude though.
  2. Lol, sure. Must be why they are looking at all those “TOR” guys presently. Dang you Ryan Braun! Darvish isn’t a Brewer because well, we are the Brewers and he doesn’t want to be there. It’s okay. We will survive. We don't know if that holds true anymore. Lorenzo Cain could have been our one and only FA splash. Most likely true but that’s not because of a lack of money.

  4. Then both of you should be up in arms about the Cain signing. He won’t be worth by year 4-5 either. Brewers bought out highly productive years to basically pay for them now. That’s the MLB. Oh well. It’s a chance they took. We will find out if he can at least be a 2WAR player to make his contact okay the last couple years.
  5. It’s been overstated so many times that Braun’s contract hurts us. Well it didn’t stop us from adding over $20M to our outfield for years to come a few days ago. Not only that but if 1WAR = $8M, I think Braun will probably do alright in getting the value out of that contract. Also you may want to check out who the Cardinals are paying money to over there in St. Louis. Lol Sure it does. Are you saying if we had the chance to be free and clear of Braun's contract in exchange for not having him anymore, you wouldn't take it? There would be no reason to trade Santana, you would still be loaded in the OF, and you'd have more than enough money to go after Darvish or Arrieta and still have a ton of flexibility to make other moves. Right now, they could probably still make such a move but would be approaching the limit of what they'll probably be willing to spend. Any way you slice it, $20M spent is $20M less in spending power that you have. I am not saying Braun's contract is a disaster, although I disagree that we're going to get the value out of his remaining 3 years and $61M. He's projected for 1.5 WAR in 2018 and that number is certainly trending downward. If they wanted to go get a pitcher, they could go get one. Braun isn’t stopping that just like he didn’t stop the latest two acquisitions. The Brewers knew their financial “spending power” and have a way better idea of what that is than any poster we have. No real debating it anymore. The same people who bag on Braun and his contract have been saying the same things on repeat and yet, here we are, spending. We worry more about pennies around here. It’s cute, but it’s old and tiresome.

  7. I think with the moves happening at the same time it’s hard not to talk about both.
  8. Oh I don’t know. For an extra $20M I think I’d take a shot on year 4 & 5. That’s not much money for the type of player Cain could still possibly be.
  9. LOL! I’m actually feeling great about the fact that he thinks so highly of us.
  10. We'll see how that plays out in years 4 and 5 of Cains contract. There is a pretty good chance we have that bloated contract on the books when we need to have the money for another player at that time, but will be strapped. I might be wrong, but so could everyone else. But you’re more missing he point. He will be nothing but a bonus in terms of the value of the contact by then. In year three he will, most likely, have made the contract worth it. And $18M in 2021 isn’t going to be holding the crew back if in contention just like Braun isn’t present day. You’re just looking for reasons to hate this because your beloved prospects are gone.
  11. Doesn't that mean.. it's not an overpay? As I’m reading people talk about over pay as if this is 2002, the guys on MLB network are slobbering over the Cain acquisition. Speaking about how he only has to be a 2-win player per year for the contract to be worth it. Hell he could have that in two seasons.
  12. Makes you wonder if Stearns is targeting something!
  13. Not that he has a choice in this but it would be interesting to know his thoughts on coming to Milwaukee. And not the press bites I'm sure he'll feed those bozo's we have covering the Brewers.
  14. He has to be one happy guy right now. A lot of the pressure has been lifted from him tonight. Now if we can get lucky with some health he can go back to being Braun. Should be fun out there in 2018.
  15. Yeah my fingers hurt. Cue the happy gilmore quotes.
  16. Probably would have been if there wasn’t a stud OF with 5 years of control demanding to get out of Miami. Stars lined up for this one.
  17. but the brewers are going to need starting pitching.
  18. I love getting Yelich but was really hoping Barraclough was also going to be in the deal. Oh well, having Yelich the next five years will be a lot of fun!
  19. If it’s just Brinson and Diaz, oh my. This could be awesome.
  20. Seeing pictures of Cory Hart with a gray beard and Prince at Fantasy Camp is nice but for some reason it is depressing. Maybe because I always thought they'd be the group that brought a trophy to Milwaukee or it makes me feel older. I don't know. Great to have them with the Brewers though, even just for this.
  21. How do you "cut and run" on this though? The way I see this thing is the only to use Bitcoin is to spend it. Am I wrong on that?
  22. Doubled in over a month. Insane. Bitcoin is an alternate global currency. Not sure how they evaluate the "value" of a coin, but seems like its value is based on stock-market like speculation (probably most similar to gold/precious metals). Right now it's value is being run up by pure speculation, like the real-estate flipping boom of 2005-2007 on steroids. Bitcoin uses blockchain to determine ownership, which is actually the interesting part of it. Blockchain is like a transparent, permanent ledger that cannot be changed. When all parties sign off on a transaction it gets entered into the "blockchain" and no one can delete it. Blockchain has the ability to drastically cut transaction costs/time. Think of buying a house - all of the money you spend on title insurance is for manual research of title history to make sure that nobody has a lien/claim on the title. If there were an open, transparent, permanent ledger that shows all historical transactions involving the title... no, or at least very minimal, title insurance costs and shorter closing time. Thanks! Okay, so I buy some. Can I sell it and make actual money? I have heard that once you have it, you then need to buy things with the Bitcoin and can only purchase certain products that recognize that currency.
  23. Can anyone explain what the heck Bitcoin is to me in simple terms? I just don't get it.
  24. I watched The Big Sick last night. It was very good. Not sure it's must-see but its a good one to see.
  25. Could not be more happy with my Blues start to the season. Please let this be the year.
