  1. If we tank this year then a trade has to be made OR we have to sign an ace in the off season (Zimmerman) and go for it in 2016. Lohse isn't for sure gone next year. Could be had at a decent contract if still pitching well. I'd rather extend Gomez than Lucroy. Unless Luc is going to move to 1B full time because catchers just have too sharp of a decline past 30.
  2. Offensive numbers down last couple years. Find me another hitter like ARam that consistently put up .850 - .900 ops seasons. Don't waste our time with Segura.
  3. I think this is a huge point, and it's why I'm not prepared in any way to declare what Segura "is" as a hitter yet. He's probably not a .800+ OPS bat every year, but I also will be surprised if he's actually terrible. A corner IF that has a OPS of .750 is not an option.(and even that seems high for him) It just isn't. This team will suck badly if Segura is our 3B. I don't care how good Arcia or Sardinas is if it means Segura at 3B our offense will suck. Plain old suck. Your 3B has to be getting into the .850 range constantly with over .900 here and there. If he's not, then you need to find someone who can. I don't think Segura is terrible. Just a terrible, horrible, abysmal choice for 3B on any major league club. Heck, his OPS wouldn't be good enough for college teams.
  4. What veteran is available this time of year for $7 million?
  5. Uh oh they sky is falling again. ITS SPRING TRAINING!! R-e-l-a-x. It's not like we are talking about our ace getting smacked around.
  6. Maybe someone could clarify... are we saving money by releasing Perez? I ask because looking at the numbers in spring training a guy like Blazek hasn't exactly lit it up. Not saying he was bad, but not great. Considering he hasn't proved anything at the big league level, it was hard to see them getting rid of Perez after putting together a nice spring.
  7. If Segura is our 3B of the future we are in trouble.
  8. Im actually quite happy with the lineups that RR puts out there compared to a lot of the lineups I see on here. No rhyme or reason. Just put people in places because you think they'd be a good fit instead of actually looking at numbers and comparing.
  9. Shane Peterson and Sardinas were optioned today. Bench becoming a little more clear.
  10. But your seven other batters in your order get on base better than he does so why would he even be considered? The best thing your lead off can do is get on base. Why would we our our worst hitter or get on baser in that spot? Our worst hitter getting more at bats in a game just doesn't fly with me. To me it would be the dumbest thing RR has ever done and there has been some doozies. And I do agree, ARam being slotted in the 4-hole no matter what is dumb. I do believe in giving him the first month to show he still has it. If not drop him. Performance based lineup is how this should all work.
  11. Definitely a good thought there. I somehow forgot about Thornburg. Honestly, if I were the Brewers and I was gutsy enough...I would deal Lohse for Guerrero. I know it will never happen but I highly doubt the Brewers bring Lohse back in 2016 so it makes the most sense from a long term standpoint to deal Lohse as they will have Peralta, Nelson, Fiers, Thornburg, Garza and Jungmann fighting for the rotation starting next season. Trading any of those six would be difficult for me given Lohse's likely departure after this season. The question I would have is, could we get more than Guerrero for Lohse? I feel as though we might be able to so that would hold me back from a straight up deal. But yes, I am on board with you to some extent.
  12. Fiers? Big park he could do very well in. Brewers aren't punting 2015 and trading Fiers would be an indication of doing so. Unless the Brewers think Jungmann is ready (I don't) then I don't think they have the depth to deal SP. An interesting thought...Would a Guerrero + package be worth more to you than the package the Brewers received from Texas (Sardinas, Knebel, Diplan) for Yo? Maybe they can slide in Thornburg instead of Fiers. Jungmann remains your 6th. Or, we sign some vet off waivers in a week or so and make him our #5. I mean there are options to do this. Not saying it will or can be done, but I'd be all for moving Fiers, who is still somewhat unproven, for a guy that might be our answer at 3B.
  13. Come again? Cherry picking numbers? You gotta be kidding me. He's had enough at bats in his "early" career to know he should be nowhere near the top of the order to begin the season. In fact, the guy I said to put there over him has been a better bat in the MLB and in the minors so I think I contributed quite nicely to the conversation. Now, if he were to turn his "early" career around at the plate and start getting on base more to use that speed he has, I'm all for him being up in the 1-2 spots in the order. Until then, sorry but it would be one of the worst moves RR could make. Oh, and here is more contribution to the conversation from an earlier post:
  14. Fiers? Big park he could do very well in.
  15. The same Segura with a career .311 OBP? Or even better yet a career .305 OBP against lefties?? This move would be absolutely insane to do since we actually have really good hitters at just about every other position. Heck, if you're going to be insane, why not just put Davis in the leadoff against lefties? He is a career .311 OBP but at least supports a .486 SLG compared to .371 of Segura. Segura should bat 8th to start the year and if he hits like a sally as he did last season and part of the previous season, he should be demoted by the end of May.
  16. I wouldn't want to hurt any of the current players feeling by wearing only one players jersey. Plus I wouldn't want any of our players going in a slump because of my jersey selection so I just wear Brewers t-shirts so I am supporting them all.
  17. I probably wouldn't follow baseball much at all and I love baseball. That's how much it'd break my heart.
  18. aahaha, i sport my (grey) Brad Nelson jersey with pride every now and then. also got: - mitch stetter (blue) - doug davis (blue) - felipe lopez (gold) - manny parra (blue Milwaukee) - carlos villanueva (white) i like the "obscure" side of the force. We should call him up and see what he's doing. Could be our lefty specialist.
  19. -Losing to the Yankees of the 90's in three consecutive playoff series is not a mark against Melvin but getting them to the playoffs three times in their 48 year history is pretty sweet if you ask me. I'd say Melvin has had a pretty nice career making franchises who stink, contenders on a regular basis. Maybe not world series contenders each year but to take anything away from this guy is just not being realistic with what he's worked with.
  20. Yeah the answer should be none of the above.
  21. This is exactly it for me. I understand we need depth at 3B in our minors and a guy we think can be our next there because Aram is gone after this year but honestly, Rogers might be better than this guy. Key word, might. And he is in our own system. Not only do we have him but Jimenz again, might be better than Cecchini and again, he is in our own system. Now, would I like to add Cecchini for some depth and possible have a guy that can play a ton of positions? Sure. But giving up one of our better prospects (Sardinas) for this guy would be a terrible organizational move. I'd move Sardinas, Lohse or Garza and another prospect for Swihart though. Boston I'm sure would decline but he might be the next Posey.
  22. If Perez is pitching well, why wouldn't he be on this ball club? So far he's done pretty well I think so it seems pretty dumb of us to move him down when he is a proven MLB player.
  23. Exercise the option and if he goes out and wins a ton of games and helps get us to the playoffs, we have him for at least one more season. If they stink, he's gone probably. Doubt it changes anything in their plans really.
  24. Buy a blank uniform, go down to your local embroidery shop and make friends with the people there. I know a couple in my local town that would make a jersey up in a heart beat.
