  1. Suppan's pitch count was at 80 and they wanted him to pitch another inning with the bullpen being worn out.
  2. Line drive that J.J. made a leaping catch on and quickly threw to Counsell covering second to double off Fontenot.
  3. Heck of a play J.J.!!! Counsell did a great job of getting over there too. Now let's put some runs on the board!
  4. I think that one got him in the mouth. He was kind of checking out his lip.
  5. I'll take Prince with a 3 run shot in the 9th for the go ahead runs.
  6. Macha with a TLR move there. Did he just want to walk out there?
  7. Anyone else notice on Gameday that Soup has thrown 90 pitches 48 for strikes? I'm a little surprised he has had such a good day and thrown 42 pitches for balls.
  8. Dumb question here, why is FSWisconsin using w and x for yes and no? Why not have people use Y for yes and N for no? Not a big deal but the last few games I've spent a good 5 minutes each time being annoyed by it.
  9. I'd love to see a player that gets the sac bunt down 100% of the time. It sucked that Counsell didn't get it down but it happens. He normally does. If the throw to home is anything less than perfect Soup scores and Brad Fischer is a genious. The only thing wrong with sending Soup is that he ended up being out. It was the right decision. It's a 1-1 game where the team has not come through in clutch situations all day long. You have to take that chance. Now if McGehee gets a hit some people will think that he would have had the exact same at bat and saw the exact same pitches last inning, and they would also be wrong.
  10. Well that sucked. Good throw, right call at the plate. I understand sending him there though. The way this game and the last few weeks for that matter you have to send Soup and hope the throw is off line a little bit. Who knows if Casey even puts the bat on the ball or if we see another pop up.
  11. I like Rock's reference to Bradley throwing it in the stands there.
  12. The track record for Macha is to let Soup hit for himself and then 2 batters into the next inning take him out.
  13. Must be frustrating for the Cub fans to see a weak pop up when they have a runner in scoring position.
  14. nope. How about Soup there? Very nice. This team needs someone to toughen up. I'm not saying throwing at guys heads but the Brewers do get hit by pitches way too much and our pitchers never retaliate. They left Braun hung out to dry against the Pirates by not backing up his comments at all.
  15. Mike Cameron teaming up with Usher? Like R&B guy Usher? That's pretty cool, I guess when I think of a Brewer player teaming up with Usher I think of an elderly guy showing fans to their seats.
  16. 3 weak pop ups... thanks for atleast drawing a walk Corey.
  17. I don't think I changed the meaning...I did not mean to imply that my comment about some worrying too much about batting orders was meant for you. I was agreeing with you that maybe he pays too much attention to individual match-up stats that, perhaps, don't mean, but then pointing out that all the fretting about batting order is also about something that does not mean much. Sorry, I re-read it. Don't know what I'm talking about. Seriously, 2 foul pop ups with bases loaded no one out. Ouch.
  18. That's fine, but I think you are completely wrong. Go ahead and play that inferior player. In your lineups we would probably see Hall batting against RHP. Macha is giving Kendall an extra at bat today. Batting orders matter very little as long as you are not doing something really crazy like batting your worst hitter leadoff. Oh wait. Thats where my comment about how I wouldn't go only on that comes in. If that same hitter that was 12 for 20 was hitting .196 or whatever Hall is hitting for the season, 3 months into the season following an entire year where he didn't hit I would ignore the individual match up stats. I don't really know what we are debating here. I'm not arguing the opposite of you, all I'm saying is it isn't completely useless. If I had a team full of players that had terrible stats vs a pitcher but one guy that was hitting .400 against him, for that 1 day I'd bump him up in the lineup. I don't think that is crazy.
  19. Perhaps, but then folks here fret a bit too much over batting orders. Isn't the impact of batting order on expected runs very minor? You left off the last half of what I said, changing the meaning of it. The rest of what I said made my comment pretty similar to yours.
  20. They are. They looked at it in The Book and the top 30 match ups where batters owned pitchers from 1999-2002 came out as one thire each way in 2003.(pitcher owned hitter, batter continued to own pitcher, and hitter had normal stats) Same with the top 30 situations where pitchers owned batters. Completely useless. No predictive value at all. If I had a hitter that was 1 for 20 in his career against a pitcher, I'd sit him that day. If I had a player that was 12 for 20 against a pitcher, I'd make sure he was in the lineup that day. That might be wrong according to some study that was done but it makes sense to me. The same way players play better in one stadium vs another I see value in it. They may see the ball out of their hand better or are just more confident against them. I see value in that stat. I wouldn't go only on that though. A player being hot for the last week or two is important too.
  21. I think Macha relies a little too much on individual batting matchup stats a little too much but meaningless? I don't know about that.
